Modem Firmware Question

Quick question for Cox Internet Support...

I have the Netgear CM700 and it is currently running firmware version V1.02.04, but according to Netgear the Cox approved modem version is V1.01.09. How does one update the firmware on their modem?

You don't.  Cox has to test, approve and then push the update to your modem.

        Hi jedediahe,

Thanks for reaching out to us through Cox Forums. We can certainly review the current firmware on the modem. Please email my team at cox.help@cox.com with this post, your full name, and complete address.

Just to clarify here, if I buy a cable modem, and I want to download the latest firmware and install it before I ask Cox to allow it to connect to their network, that's not allowed?  I have to connect the modem as is out of the box, and hope that Cox has the current firmware and will push it?

most if not all cable providers update firmware that's not something users do
