Outgoing SMTP - Windows Live Mail Fix

Just went trough the settings again.

I'm not the best describing everything, but here goes:

Incoming Port - 110 (using my own domain)

Outgoing SMTP set to 465

On the servers tab, for outgoing

1.  check the box that says My Server requires authentication, click settings, select Log On Using, input your COX username and password.

2. Make sure the Box - Log On using Secure Password Authentication is UNCHECKED

If it works for you, your welcome.

Maybe COX should give me free service for __X__ years to solve their problems......

    Sailor Tech,

Here's a link to the new settings after our security update. Please make sure you use the correct port number if you are using pop. or imap. If the issues continues, please confirm the server name, port number, and authentication for incoming and outgoing server.

    Stephanie,

I FIXED my problem SENDING mail out of the COX server

I was trying to tell the community how I fixed the setting to allow ME to send email through COX using Window Live Mail.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    All I did was to:

    Servers TAB:

CHECK  on the Outgoing Mail Server authentication BOX

    CLICK [settings tab]

    CHECK - Log ON Using

    Enter COX User Name

    Enter COX Password

CHECK - BOX - Remember Password

(BOX) - LEAVE BLANK  -  Log On using secure Password Authentication

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UNDER the ADVANCED Tab I used:

Outgoing mail SMTP - 465 Port

Checked BOX - This server requires a secure connection (SSL)

    Incoming mail POP3 - 110 Port

(BOX) - LEAVE BLANK  -  This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
