PANORAMIC MODEM/ROUTER

I've had the Panoramic modem replaced three times in the two months of Gigablast service. It absolutely does not reach most areas of my home. I am going to purchase the Netgear Nighthawk X10 and Netgear CM1000 but that's another $650 investment. I've had a total of 10 technician visits between HWS and badged Cox employees. I would say half didn't really know much about networking even questioning my NIC card and blamed internet speeds on my equipment after testing multiple devices.

Just checking to see how many others dislike the Panoramic modem/router and opted for purchasing their own equipment and drop the $10 monthly recurring rental fee?

Thank you. Joe

From the Scamoramic to 7 Gbps is quite the leap.  Do your devices have ad-cards?

I think the first step is to determine how many devices will be on your network.  After your count, what will those devices do on your network?  If your devices will be simultaneously streaming UHD video, multiply your count by 15 Mbps.  That'll give you an idea for bandwidth.  Add another 15 for those other suckers on your network:  refrigerator, thermostat, doorbell, lady robot, etc.

If your house is prone to weak signals, I could understand more powerful antennas; however, I agree with Mouth of $700 being an overkill.
