our phone is NOT ringing.
It has an available/free tone, but does not accept any incoming calls. All incoming calls are immediately sent to voice mail and it does NOT ring at home. Why?
Yes, there is a dial tone, we can dial out, but people cannot call us as it doesn't ring.
TWO cox tech specialists tried everything they could think of, including rebooting the entire system several times, but nothing changed. We still have a dial tone, but people cannot call us. Any ideas?
What is the make/model of your modem?
I don't know...it says "Panoramic" on top...that's it...
Okay. I just wanted to ensure you only have 1 modem. I have 2 so I'd need to select the correct modem. However, this doesn't apply to you because you only have 1.
This could be a software or hardware issue.
Software: When Cox resets your modem, Cox is only resetting the modem. Resetting a modem would not clear any Phone feature (software) you have enabled in your Cox account. Log into your account and check for any enabled feature.
Thank you, Bruce. Yes, I checked and deactivated everything that I could see. Also, deactivated lots of/all features with *... I even deactivated the voice mail online thinking that it could perhaps ring then, instead of going to the voice mail. Nope. Nothing fixed it.
A technician is supposed to come tomorrow evening, but I was hoping that somebody online would know what is happening...
Thank you.
