If you want DVR on a app, look into something like Youtube TV. Should be compatible directly with your TV. Unlimited storage. Cox doesn't offer anything like that and probably never will.
Watching TV on the go is not a major concern of mine. I am interested in DVR functionality. Does that work through the Contour app? Thanks and best regards, Steve

Unlimited storage sounds very interesting to me. I will mark your answers, taken as a whole, as the solution.
Just keep in mind their are some downfalls of going that route. For 1, it isn't as simple as using a box. You can't just use the remote to choose the channel. It uses a guide. You might be able to use Alexa with the TV for voice commands but not sure about that.
The other thing is the Youtube TV app will count against your Cox data cap(1.25TB). 4K Youtube will take over 7GB per hour. If you use one of their boxes, it is exempted.
