Internet upload speeds is unbearably slow a night time.
So I have been a Cox customer for over a year now and I haven't had any issues with this company ever in my life, but that all of the sudden changed pretty drastically over the past couple of months. We pay for 100mbps download and 10mbps upload. Usually we get these speeds if not better every single day. However, at night time, our download is dropping to around 20mbps which is actually fine with me, I have used much worse download speeds in the past and made it work just fine, but the upload, oh boy the upload, it drops to around 0.2-0.7. Yeah you read that right. This is an extreme issue for me because I do a ton of gaming, and most of that is done at night since I work and go to school during the days. The reason this affects gaming so drastically is because it introduces a ton of input lag making it seem like I have an incredibly high latency when I dont at all. My latency averages around 19ms but I will unable to play due to such a long response time. Almost every single night at around 10-10:30 pm the internet drops from its regular speeds down to the ones I listed. I have called at least 3-4 times regarding this issue, and the response is always the same. I had a tech who was supposed to come out the other day but I had to cancel due to the fear of being charged the 75 dollar service fee, which I am certain I would have been charged for because this problem only happens after 10 and he was supposed to come between 5-7. Honestly this problem is getting out of hand for me. Has anyone else ever had an issue like this with Cox before? I hadn't had any issues until after the whole net neutrality thing happened, and im not saying thats what this is, but it's sure funny to me.1.9KViews0likes4CommentsInternet Speed Much Lower than 100Mbps and Drops Dramatically
I currently have the up to 100Mbps package with Cox but my speeds never seem to get even remotely to that speed. I can usually get 20-25Mbps on a wired connection using a router, but roughly 4-5 times a day the speed drops dramatically down to 5 Mbps or lower. Sometimes it will go down as low as >1Mbps and become pretty much unusable for streaming or gaming, which are the main reasons I have the service. Other times my modem will lose connection and the internet will drop completely. I do not have any issues with the modem or router, it is definitely on Cox's end. I'm not as concerned about reaching top speed as I am getting usable speeds for streaming and gaming on a consistent basis. Any answers or help with this issue is much appreciated.1.1KViews0likes1CommentExtremely slow downloads on Valve's Steam Service
Hello, I'm trying to determine how I can have speeds like this: But download from Valve's Steam like this: This has been going on for the better part of 2 years now. The only reason I haven't asked a question earlier is I do most of my gaming on consoles. But on occasion I'd like to play my PC games as well. However, it becomes a detriment when downloads are constantly lower than they have been in the past (I was easily getting above 30 Megabytes, not Megabits, in the past from Steam). Here are my stats from my cable modem: I'm at a loss for what could be causing these consistently slow speeds with Steam, while allowing EVERYTHING else that uses my Internet connection to run at the expected rate. TL;DR -- Steam is slow, but used to be fast. I'd like it to be fast again please. Any help appreciated. Thanks.5.1KViews0likes4CommentsConstant Speed drops last 2 weeks
I am hoping I can find an answer here to the issues we are having with my Cox Premier service. For about the last 2 weeks our internet speeds have been dropping drastically. It will start up relatively high, 25 Mbps or so and then slow down all the way to 3,4, or 5 Mb. I have run multiple speed tests on different sites to confirm. I had a tech come out yesterday who claimed it was my router. He would connect the modem directly to the PC and I would jump back up to 190-200 Mbps. As soon as we hooked it back up to the router, it would drop again to 15-20 Mbps sometimes into the single digits. I took his advice and purchased a Netgear N600 dual band router, hooked everything up last night and bam, same issue. I have reset the modem multiple times, tried hooking it again into the computer and I am still getting the pull down even without the router. I am at a loss at to what I need to do next. I should also mention that I the router had two Xbox's hooked up with direct wired connections and one Pc and the speed is a constant across all devices. I do not really use our wifi for anything other than our two phones.1.5KViews0likes1Comment!!!!---Constant Internet Speed Issues---!!!!
Since I have had Cox I have had constant connectivity issues. Our modem has been upgraded to the Netgear N450 CG3000Dv2 to assist with our previous connectivity issues. We were running at 15 Megs on our previous plan and had constant speed of 8 Megs MAX. I just upgraded our internet to 50 Megs and we are lucky to get 2 Megs of download speed on a good day. We are paying almost 2x the prior cost for a slower speed. I checked our modem compatibility and it states the hardware can process up to 150 Megs of download speed. I have hard RESET the modem and RESET the connection on the online tool multiple times now. I understand Cox to be more reliable than other internet providers. Their customer service is extremely friendly, but unfortunately I have not been able to have any of these issues resolved. I have our most recent speed test provided below. Of which, I see it doesn't show up. Basically, it details we are running at 1.66 Megs on download and 2 Megs on upload. Our upload speed is faster than the download! Any advise or information would be greatly appreciated.2.2KViews0likes1CommentInternet drops to <1M down and ~1.1 up after 9PM 7 nights a week
Hi there, Same situation as others are describing here. I'm receiving 0.91 down and 1.1 up after about 9PM every day of the week. I've checked my modem, it appears to be fine. I've power cycled it, let it drop connection and re-establish, made sure I've got a Docsis 3.0, etc. I've even pulled up WireShark and traced the hop issues outside of my house. I already made the call to Verizon this morning to change to FIOS. They're gonna get back to me as soon as they know the status of my community's utility line upgrade. My income is supplemented by streaming, so as you can imagine, being unable to stream due to poor service is unacceptable. I've heard of Netflix-o-clock and that cable is shared among community, but if I pay for 15 up 15 down, I want at least 33% of what I'm paying for. I'm looking at T1 lines for $199 a month, too, but that's a large chunk of my streaming income and I'd prefer to not cut into my margin line that. A solution would be preferable. Thank you, Mr. Michael1.1KViews0likes1CommentHIGH bill!!!!! Had 2 YEAR price guarantee... Laughable joke ...
Since having your service, I've been lied to repeatedly.. My bill continues to get higher, even though I was told my bill would be the same for TWO years!!! (Kept the recording as proof!) It hasn't even been a year and my price has gone up... I call in and complain, they 'fix it' (to what it should have been anyway!) next month same thing... and you want me to continue with your service??????? I don't think so!! Fix your problems with billing, follow through with what your employees are telling people, and maybe, maybe you might keep more customers and have a LOT less complaints to deal with...1.6KViews0likes2CommentsI am getting less than 1 Mbps download speed
I have been having slow and unreliable internet speed problem with my Cox connection for quite sometime now. I called several times, sometimes escalating the case to level 2. I even had a Cox technician to come and check everything inside and out. Here is what usually happens: As part of the routine diagnostic test, each time consuming about an hour on the phone and on the computer/modem/router, I end up restarting the modem a few times, clearing the cash, and the speed gets back up to expected levels, 100-160 Mbps. After just an hour or less, I am back to single digits, sometime less than 1 Mbps. Unbelievable. I have a modem, SB6141 (which is still the best seller on Amazon). WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? Why Cox internet is so unreliable? The support has not helped so far. If I had a choice of another internet provider vendor, I would have been gone by now.3.3KViews0likes1Comment
