EAS Code
Every night the box in my bedroom displays 'EAS' which I assume means emergency alert system. When I turn the TV on, the image is black and no sound. Doesn't matter what channel is selected. I can cycle through the cox activity menu and that is about it. If I run a diagnostic all signals are receiving properly. I have power cycled the box already and still get the same issue. Again, this only happens at night, probably sometime after 7p and lasts into early morning. I am at a loss..9.5KViews0likes0CommentsEAS override is inoperative, but only part of the time
I live in Ocala and whenever I get an EAS override on my cable boxes, I sometimes get Cox's "Call to subscribe" message, as though I do not have a cable subscription. It most recently happened around 5:05 PM on 9/2 (possibly related to Hurricane Dorian; portions of Marion County were under a Tropical Storm Watch as of the alert time) but happens intermittently whenever an EAS code appears on my cable box. The problem is compounded by the fact that, whenever I get an EAS message from Alachua County (via WUFT), the system works as intended:I get a sequence of 4 screens of text (2 in english, 2 in spanish) with 2 EAS audio loops, all detailing the alert, then back to programming. It's just that whenever the EAS message does NOT originate from WUFT that the "call to subscribe" message appears.1.6KViews0likes2Comments
