Blocking Port 21 for Residential Connection
I spoke with a rep who said COX can't block ports on their end, yet there are multiple articles about how they definitely block ports for everyone's protection. I know COX is blocking my port 21, which yes, I know is not the most secure, but I use it securely enough for my extremely small business (1-person agency) out of my home office. It worked fine, up until COX decided to start blocking it. I know it's COX because I've dug through all of my router's and server's logs for hours and there is nothing about port 21 being blocked. Moreover, I can reset the connection and it works from an outside source for a few seconds before being blocked again. STOP BLOCKING MY PORTS!!167Views0likes8CommentsOpening Ports
I am installing a Bobcat 300 Helium Miner. I have a Netgear CM500 cable modem (DOCIS 3.0) connected to the Cox cable, and an Apple Airport Extreme router connected to the cable modem. My Miner is connected to theEthernet port on the Airport Extreme. I have Cox residential 150 service. The Bobcat connects to the Helium network, and the hotspot is Huge Concrete Tortoise on the Helium Explorer, BUT the connection is RELAYED. Helium says that this is because port TCP:44158 is closed and that it needs to be open both inbound and outbound. Anyone have suggestions on how to do this? Anyone know where the closing of port 44158 is taking place? The Airport Extreme, the Netgear Cable Modem, Cox head? I have read the list of Cox filtered ports but 44158 is not one of the forbidden ports. Is this related to my being a residential customer? Any thoughts on resolution would be very helpful. I see on theHelium Expolrerthat many hotspots have this issue. Thanks! Bob924Views0likes0Comments2-3 years and no fix for my gateway deleting and remapping ports

Hello, I need to forward multiple devices (a desktop and a laptop) through the same ports on my router, but attempting to do so throughwww.cox.com/mywifi gives an error that each port can only forward a single device. Is there a way to work around this?1.8KViews1like4CommentsPORT FORWARDING don't work ! ! ! !
I've setup port forwarding with the correct IPv4 shows in the wifi.cox.com settings of the port forward section but when i check my ports on canyouseeme.org nothing is opening i've restarted my computer / modem reapplied the settings nothing happens nothing is working and it seems they're trying to fish 10$ outta me to talk to the customer support whos gonna magically turn it on for me this smells SUPER FISHY!845Views0likes2CommentsPort forwarding for SSH or remote access?
Hows it going all. Been seeing quite a few people complaining about the switch that happened with port forwarding. I'm attempting to SSH into a raspberry pi from a completely separate network, and every time i port forward the raspi, the port never opens on the router (tested with telnet andhttps://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/) I went in (to the app COX support, because you blocked the firmware option that made it simple and easy), and selected the raspi, told it the port i wanted forwarded, and saved it. I can now view it, and look at it, but not use it apparently? Any ideas anyone? I've tried PuTTy and just ssh through cmd/powershell.1.1KViews0likes1CommentProxy Internet connection through networked device
Hi all, I'm running a Panoramic Wifi router/modem and pretty new to networking in general. I've got a laptop connected that I'd like to use as an internet proxy for my phone to sniff out some of the API calls an app is making. I've opened up a port (5555) on my laptop and set it's subnet ip (192.168.0.7) and port as the proxy address for my phone's wifi connection. The phone maintains a wifi connection to the network but isunable to reachthe internet. I think the router might be blocking access, though I'm not sure. I've read up on port forwarding and port triggering, though I don't think these come into play as theproxy connection should only go through the subnet, to the laptop, then out to the internet. I'm able to successfully ping the laptop from the phone, and while this gives confidence I can actually reach the laptop on the subnet, I understandthe ICMP protocolwon't help me verify if ports are open correctly and accessible. I'm not sure how else to debug what's going on. Any suggestions or tips? Thanks for any help!831Views0likes0CommentsCan't forward ports
This is **. Just a couple months ago this was not a problem. I moved and my modem did a firmware upgrade. Now the port forwarding menu is just gone and replaced with a WiFi.Cox.com link. Except, when I click that link, it tells me to upgrade. When I click THAT, it tells me I am ineligible to upgrade.I contacted cox and they told me that the only upgrade I have left to buy is the cox complete care plan, which as far as I can tell is just tech support for people who don't know what they're doing. I'm a sys admin. I don't need help, i just need this feature.689Views0likes0Comments
