Omaha, NE I pay for 150 Mbps down and I am consistently under 80 Mbps - There must be throttling going on here.
Created a dedicated raspberry pi 4 with 4GB RAM to test my internet connection every 5 minutes and here are the results. The connection is wired from raspberry pi to 5 port switch to office ethernet rj45 cat5e to brand new unifi dream machine router to brand new ARRIS - SURFboard 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem - White. I pay for 150 Mpbs down and here is what I get for the past 6 hours today. See here : https://imgur.com/A1uDzHW The test runs every 5 minutes against this server : { 'url': 'speedtest.rd.om.cox.net:8080/.../upload.php', 'lat': '41.2500', 'lon': '-96.0000', 'name': 'Omaha, NE', 'country': 'United States', 'cc': 'US', 'sponsor': 'Cox - Omaha', 'id': '16621', 'host': 'speedtest.rd.om.cox.net:8080', 'd': 13.092320718374381 }589Views0likes1CommentIntermittent upload speeds
I have been reporting issues with intermittentchoked upload speeds over the past few months. I have since upgraded to a new DOCSIS 3.1 modem, purchased a new NIC (desktop), cross-referenced the same issue with different network cables to my laptop NIC (old and new modem). Same results. The issue seems to be more prevalent during the evening and weekends. A work friend also has the same package, lives in the same region (different node), but has seen no issues. Additionally, when I'm having the issue, we test the same speed checks (Cox site-NOLA, ATL, and Speedtest.net -various endpoints) to the same endpoints, with different uploads. Usually, I'll average right under 10Mbps (sometimes lower), when he has a consistent 20-30Mbps. I completely understand that servers vary with available bandwidth, but the results have been too inconsistent between 2 different Cox modems. This is NOT an equipment issue, but potentially a residential line issue or similar at the tap/node. Several technicians have come out to my residence, all testing appropriate speeds from each modem at the time. One technician did replace some older configurations at the junction box outside the home, but this has not helped. Another technician scheduled for a line technician to come out, which happened today. Unfortunately, this was a contractor who had another modem to replace and no history of work orders. He was at the house all but 5 minutes and left without saying a word. This contractor also debating with me at my doorstep, saying that I'm only guaranteed 1/10th of the upload speeds. I will be calling in AGAIN to report the same issues this evening, but it's doubtful anyone will do anything other than noting my account I have "internet issues". Very dissatisfied is an understatement.1.4KViews1like0CommentsVideo calls slow down my entire internet
Hi, This is a unique situation I find myself in, but i'm not sure what to do or why this is happening. Whenever I go on any video calls (keep in mind my internet should be 100 down/5 up), my entire internet grinds to a halt, dropping my speeds below 1mbps. I've tried resetting the router and the modem. Does anyone have any experience with this issue, and how to fix it?3.6KViews0likes6CommentsNetflix unable to maintain 4k or 1080p stream, an issue previously solved last year.
Netflix streams are dropping down to 480p when they should be 4k or 1080p. I had this issue before and it took months to solve. Calling support at Cox or Netflix was like speaking to a hole in the wall. I asked my neighbor if they had issues with netflix recently; he did not even notice he was watching 4k in 1080p or less. I guess some people do not notice the drop until it's at 480p. No router ,modem or saturation issues on my end. The issue was previously solved by a Cox employee on this forum when he/or she found the issue was related to a peering node at Akamai. Can I get someone from Cox to please check out Netflix stream issue here in 92610, thanks.4.3KViews0likes6Comments
