block specific website addresses
I have a Panoramic Arris tg1682 router/modem rented from Cox, at Cox's strong recommendation. I want to block access to specific websites as I have children who are now online. When I log in to the router at 192.168.0.1 and access the router controls I cannot find where on the menu to block websites by addess. Under "Parental Controls" it says to log into cox.wifi.com which then presents the same menu you get when using the Cox wifi app. After spending the time to create profiles and add each device to those profiles, I then turned on "Parental Controls" for the children's profiles I wanted to restrict. There were no more granular controls offered with respect to specific websites. My child was no longer able to login to their favorite video game. I want child to be able to play their favorite video game. I don't want my child to access certain websites. Every router I have used for 15 years has been able to block websites by name. How do I block specific websites from my rented Panoramic Arris tg1682 router/modem?10KViews0likes10CommentsHow to reset gateway password
I recently upgraded my Cox router and have forgotten the password I changed it to from the default "password" when I set it up. I've looked through the Cox Support articles and have searched everywhere but somehow no one, in the last 20 years, has forgotten it. I'd rather take a bullet than have to chat with a representative so, please, if anyone knows how to do this and can tell me I will be forever grateful.9.9KViews0likes2CommentsGigablast WiFi super slow
My wife and I pay extra money every month for the Gigablast because it was supposed to be able to support all of our devices but ever since we’ve had it we have to pause devices and disconnect others just so the ones we’re using at the moment can function semi properly. We live in a small house so I thought maybe that might be interfering but we’ve had WiFi here before and it’s never been this bad. Is there an extension for the cords for the modem so i could move it closer to the bedrooms? I have the TechnicolorCGM4140COM Gateway that came with the gigablast installment7KViews0likes4CommentsCox Communications Email Scam
I recently received an email from cox referencing their updated Ultimate Plan. Presented with option 1, keeping my current tier 300mb down 30mb up at my current rate but I have to update my modem. Okay. Option 2, 500mb dowload speed 10mb at my current rate as well but i still have to upgrade modem. Okay. Clicked on cox link of approved modems and purchased one. Upon calling cox decide option one or two and to activate my new modem. The rep tells me my bill is going up $15 with my free upgrade? Its bad enough cox lost the RSN sport networks, if internet goes too im afraid my 15 years+ with cox is over. Very dissapointed in Cox Communications Marketing & Sales customer service.5.6KViews0likes13CommentsDaily restarts at the same time
Every day at 5:19 am, my ArrisTG1682G restarts itself. I have attempted tech support, where they just check for outages. I have downloaded the WiFi app, searched and found no help there, no settings that control such an event. I have logged into the modem's interface and looked for any type of settings to change the time it resets or to disable this feature completely.4.9KViews1like8CommentsWe're looking to move into a house and noticed it doesn't have any cable outlets. How much would it cost to install one in the living room for a modem?
There's not a single one in the whole house! I don't know if they never had internet or...something else I guess. There aren't any phone outlets either.4.5KViews0likes7CommentsStop blaming Cox, you whiners!
Since I first discovered this forum I've read many dozens of questions in which users blame Cox for their email or internet problems. Many others chime in with posts like "Yeah, I have the same problem" or something like "Me too. I'm sick of it. Cox **" But have these whiners called Cox technical support, describing their problem in an intelligible and thoroughly descriptive manner? I can surmise from the posts and replies that the answer is mostly "No". My experience with Cox has been more then satisfactory. I did have to call Cox technical support once for a modem issue that only they could resolve.. And they did, in a heartbeat. If you have internet problems and your device is a PC then I can tell you the primary source of such problems are: - Registry cleaners like Ccleaner et al. If you let programs such as this modify your registry you might as well reinstall Wndows to get it working properly again. - Installing device drivers from "who knows where". - 3rd-party ant-malware software. You don't need that **. Rely on Windows Defender. - Editing your registry or configuration based on info from non-Microsoft websites or upon the advice of your neighbor's cousin's 14 year old "PC guru" son. And the list goes on. I'm an EE and certified IT specialist. Let Windows take care of itself. Uninstall 3rd party anti-malware software. Don't install drivers from ANY of the many "device driver" sites. Don't open emails from sources you don't recognize and don't go browsing where you shouldn't be browsing. Or you could install one of the many Linux distros. But if you're not an expert coder you'll find yourself up the creak without a paddle. At this point all I can say is that I'm running Window 10 with all current updates installed and my device drivers are maintained by appropriate sources. Windows runs great and my Cox internet connectivity is impeccable. If you have a problem, call Cox. Most of the recommendations you may receive here are 3rd party misinformation, even from the moderator (sorry, whoever you are but dems da facts).4.3KViews0likes11CommentsCM1100 - New gigablast user stuck at 300M instead of 1000
A few weeeks back I got a CM1100 Netgear Modem, and upgraded my cox service to gigblast I have never seen the gigablast speed The best I have achieved is 300MB speed Im wondering if the cox side still thinks I have a docsis 3.0 instead of a 3.1? Any ideas? Can anyone who gets close to gigablast tell me what looks different on their modem status page? Looking at the modem status screen I see this Frequency start Value This field below allows you to modify the frequency the cable modem start with its scan during initialization and registration.
