$50 Remote Service Appointment Fee
https://imgur.com/5UGOfF2 I've had three different technicians out to fix these speeds. The third tech said it was the modem I owned and charged me $50 for the visit. Today I went and got a rental modem from Cox. Still the same speeds. Customer service is now refusing to credit back the $50 even though the issue was clearly not the hardware I own. At this point I just don't want to be charged for that visit and deal with the degraded speeds. I just don't like being taken advantage of by my ISP. From what I understand, the reason I was charged is because thetech came to the "conclusion" that my modem was the issue. By using a rental modem, I have proven that is not the case. What can I do for this charge to be removed?1.2KViews0likes1CommentWhy does Whole Home require $80 Professional Installation?
I was denied shipping and was told that hooking up cable boxes would cost me $80. I am a pretty savy techinical guy so hooking up a strand of COAX shouldn't be much of a problem. I should be able to have someone troubleshoot any issues I encounter over the phone.I can move to Verizon for $20 more. Can anybody tell me if there is a way to get this fee waived? Thanks!18KViews0likes12CommentsInternet speed/price changes
I have been with COX for a long time so know the history of my internet connection. At one time I paid approx $20 a month for 3 meg download which caused some problems. This wasabout a yearago so I called them about an upgrade to 5 meg download which was approx $30 a month. In fact they told me the 3 meg serivce was not even available anymore because 5 meg isrecommended at a minimumto do most things. I even did speedtest.net before and after to verify the download speed. So I now I noticed they just increased my internet cost to $40 a month and guess what the download speed is now back to the low 3 meg which is by the way still not recommended for many applicationswhich suggest a minimum of 5 meg which explains a few things. Of course now I can go to the next option for $55 a month which jumps all the way up to 18 meg download which is quite a jump. I would say it probably takes an effort on Cox's part to maintain the 3 meg. So I think you get the picture in that 5 meg is recommended but now their basic service is 3 meg again with nothing in between without going all the way to 18 meg. I am to the point of filing complaints with any agency I can find as well as the better business bureau. I am also shopping for other options.2.9KViews0likes1CommentUltimate Internet only providing 25-35mbps...
Is anyone else having issues getting the advertised speed of 50mbps with the Ultimate plan? $109 a month seemsEXTREMELY steep for speeds that I was getting with the Premiere service. With Premiere I was almost ALWAYS clocking between 25-35mbps. It was always above the advertised speed. Now I feel like I'm getting ripped off only pulling up to 40mbps (very rarely). I have had techs out on 3separateoccasions what have all done the same work, checking connections and redoing the last guys work. They're are telling me it's going to be hard to get up to 50mbps because I have two PCs, two 360s, and one laptop. I always got between 25-35mbps with this same set up on Premiere. Our tower PCs plugged right into the modem don't get any higher. I WANT MY MBPS! I will not be paying $100 for the same service I was getting with Premiere.4.5KViews0likes4Comments$240 early termination/disconnect fee
Summary: I recently called to downgrade my cable to save a few bucks and to eliminate channels we do not watch. I was told that I was in a 2yr contract and I could not make any changes to me TV, but I was allowed to change internet speeds. 1 year ago: When I initially called last year to cancel TV, I was talked in to upgrading my TV and get faster internet for $5.00 more per month- I even got a titanic cable box for HD channels and a fancy remote that I only use 4 button--and she did mention that it was a 2 yr contract, but that the loophole was that I could change services at anytime, BUT I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO DISCONNECT services--so I thought that wasn’t a bad idea, I don't not need TV, but in the future I could downgrade to basic cable and internet we do need for work--so no plans of disconnecting. Yesterday: I explained what I wanted to do and she said that there would be a $240 early termination fee and that this was explained in my bill. Now I receive my bill paperless, and not sure if anyone else has trouble logging into to COX services, it usually does not work for me and if you log in and click on the link to check your bill, it usually takes me to their homepage and logs me out. So during this past year I usually just refer to my bank statement for the amount paid to make sure things are correct. Now I noticed my bill went up ~$27 (80-->107) because I lost promotion discounts and now only receiving $13 discount. Has anyone else ran into this problem? The woman who helped me yesterday was not verypoliteand she sounded like a tape recorder trying to explain to me what I apparently signed up for. NOW: debating to A) pay $240 to cancel TV all together now since I has lost faith in COX (I just wanted basic cable, really that is all). I cannot cancel Internet since we need it for work. Any goodexperiences with Century Link? I neverthoughtabout using Netflix, but it NOW seems like a good idea for the times we want to see something on the TV screen or when we have company and want to watch something entertaining. Before this, I was turned off from Netflix after what I read what they did to their subscribers (price hike) and told myself I do not want to do business with them... B)Or continuing to pay $107 till next February (total of $1,284) for something we do not use. If we sit down to watch the tube, it is usually diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (Food network is sadly turning into a MTV reality junk shows and Triple D is a shows that still shows how to cook stuff after 5pm), Discovery or Travel Channel, but I can live with out this "luxury." Am I the only one out there with this issue with Cox? thanks-73KViews0likes3Comments
