Internet Speed Capped to 100 Mbps
I have been a Cox customer for about 10 months and within the last month I moved and transferred my service. Every since then, I have been unable to obtain download speeds higher then 100 Mbps. I have been paying for Gigablast the entire time and I also pay for unlimited data. I have contacted multiple support representatives and I have not gotten a clear answer as to why this is happening. Most tell me that it is my equipment that is causing the issue and that I should contact the manufacturer. They have even stated that if my equipment wasn't the issue, then there wasn't anything else Cox could or would do for me on this issue. I am using an Arris SB 8200 that is just about 11 months old and a new Amplifi Mesh WiFi system that is less then 2 months old, all of which where working just fine until I moved into this new place. But never the less I have contacted both of them and they can not find anything wrong with their equipment. With that in mind, I reset both to factory settings twice in the last month and I still am not able to download anything faster then 100 Mbps. The last service representative I spoke with scheduled a technician to come out to my home to attempt to resolve the issue. I am skeptical that this will work because when I asked what the tech will do during the appointment, the representative said " hopefully they can fix it, if not they will just have to run it up the ladder and escalate it." They said they had the same problem at there home and that the technician could not resolve it so they have just been dealing with it. So now I will just get to wait and see what happens on Thursday. Hopefully someone can offer up a solution a solution other just then dealing with it, or down-grading my internet package.4.5KViews0likes13CommentsRandom lag spikes
Hello , I've been getting random lag spikes for some quite time when I play on xbox and pc. Recently I upgraded my service to gigablast. But it still does it , I've been doing speed test when theres no issues and when I get spikes. I get around 560mb download & 3mb upload on a good moment. 190mb - 300mb & 0.5mb upload when I get spiked. Also my router just loses internet at random times . I have a couple people connected on my router but they mostly watch videos or go on social media. Just mostly affects me whenever I play games. Don't know if I need things to be checked out or what.4KViews0likes3CommentsCox Cable internet is garbage. I don't know why.
When using a separate modem and router, I ping about 25-30 ms to LA. It randomly spikes to over 300 very frequently. When I take away the router and just use the modem, I get the same results. Cox told me to get a new modem, so I did. Same problems. Cox sends a tech out, they say they fixed whatever was wrong. Still get the same results. Can't get stable ping as the ONLY device on the connection. I am properly confused.3.7KViews1like8CommentsInternet was slow with cox modem, why?
Has anyone else had problems with their cox modem? Had mine for a year then suddenly started cutting internet in and out. They did a "health check" and said it was unhealthy and sent me a "brand new one". the new one did the same. they did a health check and said it was fine and wanted to schedule a technician because my internet was also lagging. I bought a third party modem and my internet is great again. Was it my modem or a screw up on their part?2.5KViews0likes7CommentsUpload speeds insanely low
Upload speed has been below 0.10 mbps recently if not lower. My download speeds have been perfectly fine. I cant figure out the problem and i cant find any other forum post like this that has been answered ,But it seems like a lot of people are having this issue. Speed Test Results2.2KViews0likes8CommentsCox is throttling speeds of DOCSIS 3.0 modems
I used tohave250-350Mbps down 2 years ago but Cox has throttled down some older DOCSIS 3.0 modems to only have access to the essential 150mbps speed. If Cox didn't have a monopoly on internet service providers in my area I'd switch ASAP. Probably just trying to sell more of their junk modem rentals to unwitting customers and take advantage of their lack of knowledge.1.9KViews2likes11CommentsGigablast Slow Speed
Hello, I recently upgraded my internet to Cox Gigablast but I am not getting the speed that is advertised. Modem - Netgear CM1000 Docsis 3.1 (Swapped twice because the tech advised that the previous modems were defecive) Router - Netgear AX8 I have been having this issue since I upgraded and I tried using different computer and I know for sure that the Ethernet port supports gigabit connection. All of my connection tests are hardwired directly to the modem and I am only getting an average speed of 200-350Mbps. I had 2 technician visit already and they could not figure why am I not getting speed they checked my line and it's showing good signal. I have been reading the forum and it seems that a lot of Gigablast customers are having the same issue, can someone point me in the right direction who to contact or maybe give me a solution to this problem if you have one. Thank you.1.8KViews0likes3CommentsWhen can our Upload speeds stop being throttled?
Really hard to maintain a live stream when my upload speed drops to below 1 mb/s every night until I get so mad I log off for the night. You expect everyone to continue to pay ridiculous prices for purposely controlled speeds the directly impact the reason we use your service. It’s disgusting.1.7KViews0likes4CommentsHigh Latency/Ping
I have been dealing with a very poor internet connection with very high latency/ping for over a year(especially bad in the last 6 weeks). A technician came out today. He said the signal going from the modem to cox was weak, then spent 40 minutes changing wires in the cable box outside. He then said things should be fine and left before we could even see if the "solution" worked. Of course, the problem is still there, if not worse. Online games are unplayable, voice comms online are impossible, and videos are struggling to buffer. I've run twp tracerts to google, one to overwatch (blizzard), and one to discord (voice chat). Okay, so here comes a very interesting problem. 2 days ago, my internet started acting up. When I ran a wireless speed test I was getting about 290mbps download (normal) then only getting .2mbps upload. It has been causing issues with my TV, computer, gaming, etc. I then thought maybe my router was acting up, so i disconnected my router and plugged in directly to the modem. Same results. Then, maybe it was the modem right? After talking with cox and 4 representatives later they told me to get a newer modem (even though the SB6190 is on their approved devices). I went to my cox store and picked up a modem for rent. Went home, plugged it in, same thing. I firmly believe it has something to with the physical line or the signals they sent or didn't send to my modem. I saw a COX van parked in front of my apartment a couple days ago. Is there something I can do while I wait for the tech to come out? I pay for 300 down and 30 up (i believe the up is 30), but i am receiving .2 for upload and the highest I have seen it cap at was like 4.5. Please help if possible.1.5KViews0likes3Comments
