Router (CGM4140COM) not properly negotiating 1000mbps link speeds with Ethernet connected devices.
Devices seem to keep negotiating 100mbps link speeds when they are gigabit capable. Problem only started to occur for the past month or so. Current fix is to just replug/restart the networked devices until it properly negotiates to gigabit link speeds. Have one device hardwired with a CAT6 cable, and two others via a switch (Tenda SG105)846Views0likes0CommentsInternet is not stable - Cox recommended replacing modem still having issues
The whole house started dropping 12/28 at about 4pm. The router is an AC1750 Archer C7 v1 (bought 2014) the modem was a SB6141(bought 2013) but Cox recommended replacing it so I did - to a SB6183. I have a new router arriving tomorrow, so maybe it's the C7 but the modem has some interesting log data below - I removed the MAC address. I also added the signal data as well. Can anyone help as Cox is scheduled to test the node but it's going to cost $75. Is there a way I can test? Thank you in advance for any recommendations. Is anybody having trouble downloading the anti-virus software from the cox.com website? I'm having problems. The page just show a small crossed out circle where the picture of the product is suppose to be and the download button is not there where the instructions say it should be.2.9KViews0likes0CommentsHow to Watch the Game
I have SEC Network and ESPN on my cox tv. So I have the proper packages. I have the watchespn app installed and it has always worked fine on my android phone. I downloaded the SEC Network App so I could watch the LSU - Sam Houston game. But I can't login and the espn app doesn't list the game although it list multiple other LSU games when I do a search. Is the username and password the same for the SEC NETWORK app as it is for logging in to Cox website? That username and password don't work on the app??? Is there some place after I login here that I have to request an additional username and password for the SEC Network?4.1KViews0likes2CommentsChanging Network Name/Password
I had a Cox Commctns guy come out here today & set us up- very helpful btw. But now I don't know how to personalize the Network name & password. I know you guys recommend not to do that, but it will make things easier for us. I've been looking around on this site for some answers, but nothing has worked so far. I was only given this little set-up guide. No official manual or anything. I have a Ubee. It is a DOCSIS 3.0 WeMTA. The S/N is: D484M13003917 What other info would you need to help me? There are a bunch of other #'s on this box, but not sure what's what. Thanks in advance! I'll probably call Cox in the morning, but just thought I'd ask here while I'm thinking about it.39KViews0likes1CommentUnacceptably Slow Performance
For the past few days, and various times. Afternoon, evening, and late at night, our connection in the house has been fluctuating at an alarming rate. I believe we are on the preferred or premier package, one that offers 20-30mbps down. For weeks I've been seeing speeds just barely hitting around 20.50mbps download (on the days it works correctly) only for the connection to spend most of it's time at terrible speeds on other days. Example below: We had a tech come out several months back (this problem has been present off and on as far back as late 2012,) couldn't find a problem, had no idea what packet loss was, etc. It was worth mentioning Cox had been doing line maintenance in the area both before and after the problem was noticed. After their "maintenance," I started seeing it get as bad as the following: Is there anyone in the Hampton Roads area, specifically around Portsmouth (State of Virginia) experiencing issues like this? Can anyone at Cox shed some light as to what the problem might be? I've called the automated support number numerous times. I've power cycled the modem and router numerous times and checked all my lines and connections inside the house, it's nothing on my end, at least nothing I can do anything about personally to my knowledge. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.4.4KViews0likes5CommentsConnecting to Router Settings for NetGear CG3000D
I cannot seem to connect to my COX-provided NetGear CG3000D router's settings. I am having issues with getting my Nintendo Wii to connect to the internet and it recommends changing some network settings via my router. The manual for the router available through COX.com says to access the setting by going to http://192.168.0.1 but this does not load anything for me. Thank you for any advice.8.4KViews0likes5CommentsUnknown computer shown on my network
On Windows Explorer I noticed under Network a computer listed above my own. It wasn't there previously. It is named IVANNANICOLE-HP. Is someone accessing my Linksys wireless router or getting on my network through my COX modem? How do I get this computer removed from my network? I tried unplugging my router and waiting a few minutes, but when I plugged it in again, it was still there. I don't know if it is safe for me to go on the internet if someone is accessing my computer. I have COX's Security Suite installed and run scans regularly. Anyone else have a problem like this?11KViews0likes11Comments
