Extreme increase in data usage
Since I have renegotiated my price my internet data usage has spiked to more than 2X my previoususage. I added the additional 500GB of data so I wouldn’t go over and now this month I am on trend to use more than the 1TB + 500GB. I’ve changed my network password and name, even factory reset it. No new devices or software are being used. Has anybody else experienced this? I’ve spoken to tech support over the phone and they’ve been utterly useless and suggest I up my plan AGAIN to the unlimited. I received an overage notification email. Per the instructions in the email, I logged into my Cox account and reviewed the data usage for the time period in question. Since I have had several surgeries recently, I know there was no one at my home on the days when Cox was reporting more than 10 Gigabytes of data usage. I then sent Cox Support an email indicating that there was no way I could possibly have used this amount of data as no one was at the house on that day. They referred me to "Cox Abuse Department at 1-800-753-6085". When I called there, I spoke with a person who identified himself only as "Fernando". When I questioned the data usage amounts, he would only repeatedly state I must have been hacked and I need to change the security on my router. When I explained that I am not even broadcasting my SSID, he maintained I must have been hacked, talked over my objections, bid me goodbye and hung up on me. Little did I know "Abuse Department" meant the customer was likely to be abused when they called. How do I get more information on the data usage Cox claimed I have used? This is all I am requesting and I am getting no where so far. If this continues, I will terminate my all services with Cox.11KViews0likes3Comments
