Packet Loss issues
Hello, I have been living in myapartment building for almost 2 years now and I have been having horrible and inconsistent packet loss. The inconsistency has made it hard for me to get a tech to find any issues. I have had a tech come out twice now and report speeds are just fine. My issue however is not my speed. It is my high amount of packet loss. My setup: Modem: Arris SB8200 Router: Netgear Nighthawk XR500 All devices are brand new and have been replaced. Below are some tests done on ping plotter directly connected to mymodem. All tests are wired. I am not sure how I can show this to a tech because whenever they come out they tell me my speeds are fine.2.1KViews0likes3CommentsWhat's the reason for packet burst?
I've been reading a lot on packet burst for games. I ruled out my system being an issue as its up-to-date and high spec(x570 mobo, 2080 super, amd 5800x, 3600mhz ram) and its either the panoramic router provided by cox(something to do with the integrated QoS not being very good) or the ISP itself. Here is a ping plot showing how bad its been for me. It ** because I'm paying so much and for what? I upgraded to the 500 mbs ($120 total bill) only to suffer lag, packet burst/loss, and frustration. Is there not one person who can help?https://imgur.com/a/rO0khI61.2KViews0likes0CommentsPacket Burst and Packet Loss
So, I have been having packet burst heavily when playing games online and when this happens sometimes the ping will spike for a brief amount of time. There also has been some packet loss here and there. I have been experiencing this for about two months at this point. I have recently tried solving this since it is extremely hard to play anything. I have gotten a new modem and router, replaced my ethernet cable, got a ethernet pcie card, and reinstalled windows. Nothing has fixed it. I have a tech coming out tomorrow to see if they can do anything. Has anyone else been experiencing this and has anyone gotten this resolved? I hate to but, I might have to switch to another isp if this issue can't be fixed. It has gone on for far to long and if it is just a matter of network congestion then, I will have to if I want it to be resolved asap. Thanks.1.8KViews1like5Comments
