Terrible packet loss while playing and streaming all video games using Gigablast
So, every since I got COX service I have had unbearable levels of packet loss. As stated above I am currently using the gigablast service which has 1000mbps down and 35mbps up speeds. The packet loss only gets worse throughout the day and I haven't had a day where my packet loss has been stable at even 1% packet loss. I have called customer support multiple times and they only send their useless technicians that claim that there are no problems in the system. Out of the 100 that have come out some have revealed that there is an issue and that the field team needs to come fix the tap outside the house. You would think this is where everything gets fixed. But no, since this is an intermittent issue they see there is no issue on their side and simply close my ticket without telling me. The logic on the side of these so called technicians is preposterous. I simply have no idea what to do with COX at this point as it has been over a month now since I first reported this issue. I really hope someone here can help me resolve this **. THINGS I HAVE DONE: Replaced modem and router changed all my lan cables factory reset my hard wired pc used cox's panoramic router modem combo PLEASE HELP ME HERE IM GETTING 3%-25% loss in the mornings until around 5 and can go up to 75% in the afternoons.8.4KViews0likes12CommentsJUST ORDERED CENTURYLINK - Goodbye Cox and Packet Loss Issues
Cox Team - You're officially being fired! This move is a direct result of your failure to remedy gross packet loss issues. I and many others did our part to help solve the problem - actually far beyond what's normally expected of customers. I've spent countless hours of my personal time on the phone, forums, running tests, talking to techs, swapping equipment, etc. all because I wanted to help fix the issue and remain a customer, after all I've been a loyal one for 12+ years. Most depressing thing about this situation is Cox's response - "It's not on our end." You see, regardless of what the true technical issue may be or where it truly resides, Cox ISthe "internet" to the end user. The technical components you leverage to provide services are not your customers concerns. Fact of the matter is your service, and it's been proven, is part of the problem, thus is your responsibility to work to correct, through whatever means necessary. I'm a manager in IT and this concept is not rocket science. I hope this continues to be a thorn in your side and I strongly urge customers who are experiencing this issue to jump ship and impress upon Cox's upper management that this IS a problem and it's not going away. I've included below a ton of documentation to illustrate how rampant this issue is for everyone out there. Title speaks for itself. My company shifted everyone to working from home. With my upload speed. Which lets be honest i dont have any upload speed i cannot even upload files that are less than 1 megabyte. I work in accounting. I cannot email invoices, i cannot save changes to excel sheets on the company cloud. I LITERALLY CANT WORK!!!!. I have contacted cox more times than i can count regarding this I have let then know many times my livelihood is at stake, AND THEY COULD CARE LESS! Agents and tier 1 supervisors are useless. They will spout nonsense saying they see no issue on their end or that my signal levels are strong. They blame my equipment which i had to go rent a cox modem to prove to these crooks the issue was on their end. Tech arrives and says the issue is at the tap on their end WOOP TEE DOO how suprising!! Submits a ticket and says the problem will be fixed in a 3-4 days. 10 days later my internet is STILL barefully functional. I call to find out the ticket is still open! And these useless reps cant give me any details other than that the ticket is open, this was on thursday. On friday the ticket is closed as "resolved" and my internet is STILL in the state described in the title. Here is my most recent speedtest. KEEP IN MIND THIS WAS DONE AT 3 AM!!! I am paying for 100 down and 10 up! https://www.speedtest.net/result/9849250742 50 down and 0.02 up!!!!!! + 6% packet loss!!!! I pay these crooks 83 dollars per month! What will cox do when i get fired because i cant work!? On Monday that will be the third consecutive day that I CANNOT DO MY JOB!!!! if i cox rep responds to this asking me to restart my router i am going to freak out! FIX YOUR GARBAGE INFRASTRUTURE!!! A class action lawsuit NEEDS to happen, these levels of service are abhorrent!2.1KViews0likes3CommentsPacket Loss: Gaming and Cloud connections
Hello Cox community: Lately, I am getting significant packet loss when playing games (PUBG, Overwatch, Fortnite, etc). I've had up to 12% upload packet loss, but rarely any download packet loss. This packet loss is also causing frequent disconnections from my Amazon AWS instances, or connections to Microsoft Azure. I've replaced my modem, bypassed the router, refreshed the Windows OS and re-downloaded the software. Today I reinstalled all the drivers, and the issue persists. I've had a Cox technician in my home, who states everything looks good on my end. Has anyone else found a resolution to this issue? It is painfully annoying.2.1KViews0likes3CommentsPacketloss In Games and Discord.
Hi, My name is Michael Bienvenu, I live in Jeanerette Louisiana, and cox is the only ISP in my area that is worth having. I have been having ongoing internet issues, Packetloss on every single game I have ever played, I just got a new Router, I have tried a new ethernet Cable, and have gotten a new modem, multiple techs have came out to my house in the past year to help fix this but none of them have been able to permanently fix my Packetloss. I know that it's my internet and not the game servers because when I start to lag in game I check my discord and I see 100% packetloss and 10000 ping. Then it goes away and comes back every 10-15 mins. I have just ordered and received a new pci e network card for my pc. I tried gaming on call of duty modern warfare and had discord open and I started to lag the same as before. So it didn't work, Might as well keep the new nic installed, not hurting anything, my router is the Netgear Nighthawk AC 2100, I had the Panoramic Wifi Gateway and it also gave lag in games and discord. I had another router and tried it also, but same issue. I then got a dedicated modem from cox. and it is the same issue, Had linemens come out and say that the drop looks fine, I am thinking now that it is cox and how they route stuff or something, or it may be noise in the line, but the last tech said that they don't detect any noise, or packetloss, when I run a test and shows packetloss using ping plotter. I have tried bypassing my router and connecting my pc to the modem and I couldn't get a connection. I have talked to people over the internet and they too have lag in all games and discord too. For the last several months, we've had techs come out to the property to address packet loss. We've moved the modem, replaced our router and modem several times, and replaced some connections outside the home. The issue is still there, and I am unable to play games like Counterstrike without rubber-banding crazily. The last time a tech came out, he stated that it's "unlikely" maintenance will come out to address the issue, because it seems "fine" on their end. It's clearly not fine. He mentioned that we are at the very end of our neighborhood, and it's possible that there's noise, causing issues with bandwidth. This is a consistent issue. When running a ping test, the time (ms) is consistently between 14ms-50ms, but shoots up as high as 492ms. I've tested a wired connection on both my PC and laptop, and the results have been the same. This has been incredibly frustrating, and the tech visits have been endless. What are we even paying for? Edit: Any advice would be helpful. The last thing the tech on the property said before he left was, "to keep calling us until it's fixed". My last resort is to switch providers.1.2KViews0likes5CommentsI am having significant packet loss when connecting to a blizzard server.
I have tested this over the last few days and it is consistently an issue. I also tested against NYTimes.com to have a comparison. Based upon some forum suggestions from blizzard, I turned off IPV6 to force IPV4. I also rebooted and turned off the gateway. The gateway is one that one of your support personnel suggested. ARRIS Surfboard Wireless Gateway SBG7580-AC. The aforementioned forum suggested WinMTR so I downloaded it. The most recent results are included below. The main points are the overall level of packet loss and the loss even in the jump to the router. Any suggestions or ideas? WinMTR results March 5, 2018 ~11 AM after turning off IPV6 on my LAN connection and the cable Modem/router. |------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| I've been experiencing packet loss issues for at least a few weeks. I notice this constantly in online games and when I remote desktop into my work computer from home.Sometimes I just completely lose internet on all my devices for 3-5 minutes. There ARE periods of time where the connection is totally smooth, but these are rare. I just had a tech over today who said he removed some old unused connections and fixed a broken connector. He also added a coax cable attenuator pad to my coax cable. None of this seems to have done anything for the packet loss. I've started using PingPlotter recently after looking into this problem. I attached an image of 10minutes worth of PingPlotter with Google DNS as the target for reference. I'm already experiencing about 10% loss at the second hop. Is there anything else I can do about this? I'm located in Kenner, Louisiana if that helps. Thanks for reading. https://imgur.com/Zd2QPE3730Views0likes0Comments
