Contour Voice commands not working
This post appeared 2 years ago: ~~~~~~~~~ Hi there, Any tips or troubleshooting to get my Contour remote control's voice feature to work again? All other remote features are working okay. I also checked the remote itself and it looks fine, plus its fairly new (I got the service less than 2 moths ago). I went to the remote features and the voice option is "on", replaced the batteries to no avail, also searched the web for tips but no luck either - any input its greatly appreciated. P.s. I have two such remotes, the other one is working just fine. TVFan35 ~~~~~~~~~~ I could have written this because the details are exactly as were my own. The only thing not mentioned here that applied to me was that the voice command tone sounded strange when I pushed the voice command button. It was more of a burst of static than a tone. After unpairing and repairing the remote, restoring factory settings, checking that the voice command feature was turned on in the receiver settings, I noticed that my battery life was very low. There was enough juice left for basic functionality (about 10%) but it occurred to me that perhaps there wsan't enough juice to activate the mic and/or the voice recognition algorithm. Sure enough - I swapped out the nearly dead batteries with fresh ones that registered 100% life and all was well again. The voice recognition tone returned, as did the functionality. About 80% of button presses don't work. The remote LED blinks green then red along with the fact that the button presses do nothing. The green then red blink indicates that the RF signal is not being received by the DVR. Had a technician come by to investigate the problem. He replaced the DVR and remote. The problem actually got worse. I unpaired then repaired the remote and removed the batteries but it did not fix the problem. The system was originally installed 3 weeks ago. The battery is at 90%. Nothing seems to fix the problem and Cox is not able to fix the problem with their equipment. Very troubling that Cox can't fix this problem. Been meaning to ask this for a while. Contour 2, Cisco 9865HDC DVR, Cox XR 11 remote. Even with battery levels at 100%, this remote will function *only* when pointed directly at the box. By comparison, my Roku can recognize commands even when I point it behind my head. Both are rated as RF but the performance difference is night and day. While using the YouTube app, none of the usual buttons to go back work. For example, if I start from the homepage and home page and select a to watch and then proceed to watch the next video that is suggested and then I want to go back either to the previous video or to the homepage I would expect to hit back twice to go to the homepage or once to get the previous video. However neither the last button or the little back button between the volume and channel changing rocker buttons do anything. I did find a method to get back to the YouTube home screen though, and that is to scroll all the way down to the bottom and then select the home button which takes me back to the YouTube homepage, which is not convenient if I just wanted to go back one video. Note: I did the "app reset" suggested in a similar topic on this forum and while some others reported that it worked for them, it did not change anything for me... Note 2: there is an icon labeled Back in the lower right corner (the pictogram looks like the replay button on the remote) but there is no way to "select" it (and then press OK) nor does the Replay on the remote work or do anything while in the YouTube app. Looking for suggestions... When paired with both my TV and stereo, the power all button doesn't do anything. When paired with TV only it DOES work. When paired with TV and stereo, TV power button only controls the stereo. Stereo is connected only to TV via the optical cable, not to the contour box. Tried multiple codes for TV and stereo. None work for power but do control sound level. Contour box does control channel change. TV is Sharp Aquos. Stereo is Panasonic DVD/Surround sound Stereo. Both are at least 15 years old.Solved3.3KViews0likes15CommentsXR15 Remote Problems
We've been having issues with the XR15 voice remote on our main Contour box (Cisco 9865HDC). Every few hours the remote signal is not sent to the box -- green light then red light on the remote. We have to wait 30 to 60 seconds and then we can use the remote normally again. At least until the next time that it won't transmit. This happens at least a couple of times a day. This only happens on the main box. We've never had a problem with the other 3 boxes -- 1 mini coax box (XiD-P) and 2 wireless boxes (Xi6-A). All of the remotes have been supplied with fresh batteries to eliminate that as a cause. In trying to remedy the remote lag, we unpaired one of the remotes. Now trying to get it paired again has proved challenging. The remote pairs just fine with the box. But then trying to pair with the TV, we just get a message that says "Pairing Remote" with 3 moving dots. It stays this way for several minutes and then returns to the Contour settings screen. Since we can't get past the step of pairing to the TV, we then cannot get to the step of pairing to the audio receiver. We realize that we can manually connect the remote to the audio receiver to control volume and power, but then the remote will not control power to the TV. Which would defeat the purpose of having a home theater set up. We had never had an issue pairing a remote previously, but it's been many months since we've needed to do so. Also, the devices we are trying to pair to have always been successfully linked -- a Sharp TV and a Denon receiver. No new devices have been introduced. So now we have two problems that we are trying to correct ... 1) how to eliminate the lag with the XR15 remote transmission 2) how to complete all 3 steps of the remote pairing process to connect to the box, the TV and the audio receiver. I love using the 'c' button to see sports information -- However what I cannot stand is thatannoying notification that comes up every time I tune to a sports channel. I am aware of the way the 'c' button works and don't need to be notified every time; It's problematic because I can't interact with the guide or other menu options while that notification is present; I have to first press "exit" to remove it. Is there any way to turn that notification off (or make it smarter to stop showing once I've demonstrated I know about the c-button?) Just installed Panoramic Contour 2 system with three hardwired and two wireless cable boxes. NO physical DVR, only cloud based. I am not able to remotely access the system to set recordings, or to watch anything on my DVR. I was told by Cox that this is because I do not have a physical DVR in my location. Asked Cox to add a physical DVR and was told that would not be compatible with the Panoramic system. Does anyone know if this is accurate information? Is it possible to program a TV (smart) remote to use on a cox mini box? right now I’m having to use 2 remote, the remote than cane with the tv and the cox remote for when I want to watch cable. It would be nice to only have to use 1 remote -my TV’s remote has the numbers & channel up/down button it’s only missing a guide button.
