Internet speed high, but everything loads slow
Since the big “update” a few weeks ago, I’ve been having issues with internet cutting in and out and more importantly everything being slow as molasses when it does work. I’ve done multiple speeds tests and everything appears ok, but all my devices on Wi-Fi load insanely slow. Just opening and loading the cox Wi-Fi app takes 5-10 seconds. Websites on a PC can also take 5-10 seconds. Turning on the TV with an Amazon fire stick takes nearly 30 seconds to load the Home Screen. Trying to figure out what could be causing the slow usage while also showing 200mbps+. I saw some into about clearing DNS cache and also saw IPV6 could be an issue, but from what I have seen access it pretty minimal using the app. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!
Upgraded to GIGA plus fiber now speed is 10x worse? any suggestions
We upgraded to Gigablast plus fiber with speed listed as 1000/2000. We are actually get 93 on a good day and 11 or even 7 .. Was told its not the equipment, and not the install, but no solution. Anyone else have this issue? and do you have any tips as COX keeps running us in circles and everytime we ask for help the speed gets worse.

Our church has been Live Streaming for over a year. We have upgraded to 200 x 20 Mbps service, but when I run the Cox Speed test to our Cox local server (Norfolk, VA), it shows we are getting about 185 - 195 x <10 Mbps. Upload is our concern for our Live Streaming. The confusing issue is when I run the speed test to other Cox servers, i.e., Providence (RI), Atlanta, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, or Las Vegas, I get comparable download speeds, but also the full 20 Mbps upload. That tells me the problem is not our internal church network or equipment. Interestingly, running the Cox test against Cox servers in Fairfax (VA), Oklahoma City, Omaha, Wichita, Phoenix, San Diego, and Orange Country (CA), again gives me comparable download speeds, but just half +/- on the upload. The Cox technicians who have been out say their meter shows 200 x 20 Mbps at the modem, but they can't explain why all Cox servers show appropriate downloads while some are showing uploads at very slow speeds. And it is consistently the same servers which are high and which are low. The techs are blaming the Cox sped test. This just seems odd. Does anyone have any ideas? And how do we know what is right? Cox Gigiblast never faster than 25MB Download. Always near 35MB Upload
I am connected via gig Ethernet to a gig switch. The first week was 300MB or so, never close to gig. Now a month later its never over 25MB. Yes I've tried all the reboots and no it's not wifi (I'm wired) and no it's not firewall settings etc. Same results with COX speed test and SPEEDTEST.com. If this is due to Covid traffic then tell people the network is overloaded.
Gigablast is SUPER SLOW 10-15 MBPS Download and 10 MBPS Upload
I've been experiencing snail pace connection speeds for the past few weeks so I upgraded to Gigablast after attempting some troubleshooting steps. (troubleshooting steps taken: power cycled all devices in home, switched from cox provided modem/router combo to my personal modem and router, power cycled devices a second time.) After attempting all the basic troubleshooting steps and even upgrading to Gigablast my connection speed got worse. I originally had the internet only plan beneath the Gigablast plan and was getting an average of 30 MBPS download and 20 MBPS upload, after the upgrade my the results were cut in half. With Gigablast I am currently getting 10-15 MBPS download and 10 MBPS upload. Someone please help, I've spoken to 4 separate supposed "Tech Support Agents" and no one has done a single thing to help. They all just keep taking me through the same basic elementary troubleshooting steps that I have been doing for the past few weeks.
Internet upload speeds is unbearably slow a night time.
So I have been a Cox customer for over a year now and I haven't had any issues with this company ever in my life, but that all of the sudden changed pretty drastically over the past couple of months. We pay for 100mbps download and 10mbps upload. Usually we get these speeds if not better every single day. However, at night time, our download is dropping to around 20mbps which is actually fine with me, I have used much worse download speeds in the past and made it work just fine, but the upload, oh boy the upload, it drops to around 0.2-0.7. Yeah you read that right. This is an extreme issue for me because I do a ton of gaming, and most of that is done at night since I work and go to school during the days. The reason this affects gaming so drastically is because it introduces a ton of input lag making it seem like I have an incredibly high latency when I dont at all. My latency averages around 19ms but I will unable to play due to such a long response time. Almost every single night at around 10-10:30 pm the internet drops from its regular speeds down to the ones I listed. I have called at least 3-4 times regarding this issue, and the response is always the same. I had a tech who was supposed to come out the other day but I had to cancel due to the fear of being charged the 75 dollar service fee, which I am certain I would have been charged for because this problem only happens after 10 and he was supposed to come between 5-7. Honestly this problem is getting out of hand for me. Has anyone else ever had an issue like this with Cox before? I hadn't had any issues until after the whole net neutrality thing happened, and im not saying thats what this is, but it's sure funny to me.
Slow speed after 9 pm!
My internet severely slows in speed when I need it the most! The speed test shows 8-15 mbps for download and upload speeds. That's using Cox's own speed test! New router and modem. Ethernet and wifi. No other users online. Cleared cache history. Rebooted router and modem. I'm paying for 150 mpbs. The techs have come out multiple times, the last one being less than two days ago. Cox is going to get me fired from my job!!!
Internet speed testers, use by tech?
We have been complaining that our internet speeds do no match the "preferred" plan we have, i.e., 50 mb download, 5 mg upload. On advice of CoxI have been using the Cox speed tester, MS Edge as browser. Consistently get 30-35mb download on ethernet from modem, 16-17 mg on wifi. I asked him why he wasn't using the Cox is tester; he said that Cox used OOKLA as well and would be the same. He said that he pays for 100 mg download, but routinely gets 130 mg on the OOKLA test! The OOKLA site he used consistently scores almost double the results from the other sites, and the 6-7 other sites confirm the Cox test readings. Why is this? And why would the tech use the one tester (OOKLA) that shows we are getting what we pay for?
