Still Can Not Watch Netflix or Paramount +
I posted about a couple of weeks ago that I cannot access my Netflix or my Paramount+ without subscribing through COX. I spoke to one of the COX Rep and she did not know that COX has changed. She was able to verify it while I was on hold. So again, Why is COX blocking my access to the other apps that I pay for monthly? I had no issues before the change that was made. I am unable to watch Paramount+ shows on my Contour host box (brand new today).On the host box, when I select the episode and choose to go to Paramount+ (watch options), I get an ad, then a spinny circle in the upper left, and that's it. Guide shows only 5 channels
Is there someway to see more than five channels in the guide? I don’t mind if the guide would be smaller, but it would be nice to see maybe seven or 10 channels at a time instead of just the five. I ordered a change in services today (9/13/2024) - eliminating Phone Service and Homelife - ONLY! Upon completion of this order, we lost the ability to record programs and lost our previously recorded programs!!! The only resolution to this issue, based on the Technical Support response, was to pay an additional monthly charge to regain recording capability, when the change in service clearly stated 'NO CHANGE' to Internet Service and 'NO CHANGE' to Contour Premium - which should have retained 1000 hours of program recording that I originally paid for when the service started two years ago!!! This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE and amounts to FALSE REPRESENTION of the offer!!! Apple TV app not working. Was able to use 2 days prior, than yesterday went to use the app and it said I needed to sign in again, tried that, kept receiving message “something went wrong, check your internet connection, than try again”. My Cox Contour remote was not working. I had to unpair it and then re-pair it to get it to work again. Afterwards I noticed that none of my Contour DVR recordings were appearing. My future scheduled recordings still appear. And the hard drive memory bar still indicates 42% full. Hopefully my recordings. are still there. How can I get my existing recordings to appear again? I did try a system refresh and a reboot and that did not resolve the issue. I have Cox on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA. There are a couple of channels (both Los Angeles area broadcast channels) that have issues. I have checked all of my TVs and the problem occur with all. Channel 817, which shows older shows in their original 4:3 aspect ratio format is being horizontally compressed to a 1:1 ratio. I've checked this channel with my antenna and it is normal (4:3 ratio). Channel 818, which shows old movies, is experiencing "frame-dropping" with the picture. Again, I've checked with my antenna, and the picture is normal. When I've reported it to Cox, nothing gets done. I've reported it over the phone and with online chat. I have the Ultimate Package which is the most expensive my Cox Arizona offers and I LOVE it. My internet is one GB and works incredibly for all the video production I do from home as my business. I have five TV's, and sometimes as many as four laptops and a powerful PC going at one time with all connected to my home network. My main 55'' TV has my digital Cox converter box plugged in with a Stouche 2.1 brand new HDMI cable, I bought this hoping it would fix this, what I call "freezing glitching and pixelating" problem. It's just this one TV that has the problem, my Cox internet handles all my other tv's and laptops perfectly, it's truly amazing. Doesn't that tell us that it's the digital converter box with remote is where the problem is? The new HDMI cable helped cut down this freezing a little, but still, I get this awful freezing on the internet channels (especially Prime Video and Disney+) and constantly with the ESPN channels, and they pixilate with what looks like low signal strength for a while before returning to my 4K or 1929x1080. All of them will freeze, sometimes for over a minute and sometimes for four seconds. You gotta know know how irritating this is especially during a game. On the remote, I have to hit "exit" and it then sends it back to live after a few more seconds. UGH! My rep is sending a crew out to take a look and he explained how the channels work through different Cox "internet channels" and some are busier with less bandwidth than others so they can change the channels to other less "busy" internet channels, and I bet that will work. They are coming Sunday which is great. Will Powerkey Cable Cards Stop Working In October?
Hi. Earlier I asked if cable cards for TiVo will continue to be supported by Cox because some cable companies are stopping support (Optimum) or no longer providing them to new customers or existing customers if their card stops working. However, I’m now being told that the PowerKey cable cards have a date flaw and will stop working some time in October. I’m not getting any answers whether this applies to all PowerKey cards on all systems or just some. So, I’d like to know if anyone knows if this applies to cards supplied by Cox here in Phoenix? Other cable companies are sending letters saying their cards will no longer work, but I’ve received no letter from Cox and there’s nothing on my bill. Is there a DVR report similar to one available at a cable modem’s IP address that shows power status, signal to noise ratios, event logs, etc.? On a recent visit the Tech said my DVR was probably failing but he did check the signal, filter, and splitters which seemed to improve things slightly. My DVR is an old Arris AX013NC. Today had a unique series of events that happened while I was watching and I took notes. The daily update happened on schedule and finished a little faster than usual at 9:00 AM. At noon the picture froze for a minute or two, then the DVR rebooted (a mini-box on the same channel had no problems). While the DVR was rebooting I went to my Cox account for TV support and it said no equipment was connected. Just before the DVR finished it flashed a couple of codes just before the clock came on. It wasn’t the 8888 & 3 lights I’ve seen before but they went away before I could write them down. Since the daily update had already been done, I’m just curious if this was a different kind of update or caused by a lost or noisy signal, and wonder if there is a report I can access? Incidentally, no recordings were lost immediately after the last reboot finished, but 15 minutes later one did disappear, an old recording from 2016 or 2021 (a series I recorded parts of in different years). A few recent deletions had been recordings made a few months ago. Last week our cable box was updated to the latest model. Since the change, the Weather Channel is no longer showing the local communities at the bottom of the screen or during the Locals on the 8s. On the bottom ticker, we used to see Crestview Fl (the town we live in) along with Laurel Hill, Defuniak Springs, etc. (all nearby towns). Now we see Ft. Walton Beach, Eglin AFB, Destin, etc. (all towns further away). In addition, during the Locals on the 8s, the radar map and hourly predictions for rain and temperature are no longer shown for Crestview but for Ft. Walton Beach. Recordings keep disappearing from my DVR. They were not watched or deleted, are less than 1 year old, and the DVR is only 75% full. I’m forced to monitor this daily. A recording made 7/14/24 was still listed on the evening of 8/19/24 but was gone on the morning of 8/20/24. Another recording made on 8/4/24 disappeared on 8/6/24. There are 2 others I know of that were recorded on or after 4/24/24. I also discovered that 7 of the 10 episodes of the VietNam War documentary recorded in 2017 have disappeared. About a month ago, in July 2024, I was furnished a new tuning adapter, a Vecima HSC-1-H high split converter / tuning adapter, to replace a Cisco STA1520 that I've had since at least 2013. I understand this is to ensure continued functionality when the cable plant in the Las Vegas, Nevada area switches over to high split SDV. The tuning adapter is paired to a Ceton infiniTV 6 USB external tuner, which has a CableCARD. After self-install and diagnostics over the phone failed, a service technician was dispatched. Despite having a visit from a Cox technician, we haven't been able to figure out a solution to the problem. The infiniTV has an internal webpage configuration and status interface. There is a page for Tuning Adapter specifically. Under TR Status, the status gets stuck as "Waiting for Initialization." Under the CableCARD menu, the CableCARD appears to pair and authorize without issue, reflecting "Validated, validation message is received, authenticated, and the IDs match those in the current binding" under "Card authorization." In the log menu, the infiniTV shows that it's getting stuck in what appears to me to be an initialization cycle for the tuning adapter. For what it's worth, it pairs and initializes with the Ceton infiniTV just fine, though it loses WMDRM Pairing every night and has to be manually rebooted and reinitialized to regain WMDRM Pairing. But at least I can still get the Cisco tuning adapter to work with the infiniTV. Given that the infiniTV and CableCARD seem to be working just fine, and continue to work with the old Cisco tuning adapter, I think I can confidently say the issue is something with the configuration of the new Vecima tuning adapter and it not wanting to initialize and pair with the infiniTV. On Sunday, September 1, 2024, The CW will no longer be on WGNT 27 in the Hampton Roads market. It will move to WVBT 43's digital subchannel, 43.2. Currently, WGNT is occupying channel 7 on the cable grid. However, WVBT is claiming on-air that they will take the slot on channel 7 for CW programming. And WGNT stated that they too will keep the channel 7 slot on Cox. Now, I'm curious. Which source is correct? This has been going on ever since we switched form Contour 1 to Contour 2. The hardware is the same, Cisco 9865HDC (both Contour 1 and Contour 2). In our case, the problems occur whenever we schedule | record major tennis events, and more recently Paris 2024 Olympics. According to tier 2 support, the same issue occurs for Cox customers doing the same for golf events. The current issue we are experience is with the US open tennis tournament. These problems started when we switched from Contour 1 to Contour 2, Replacing the DVR did not help. 3 related issues: 1 - I scheduled the DVR to record all new US open tennis events. If there are two channels showing different matches at the same time, one of the channels will not get scheduled to be recorded. An example of this is today (August 28, 2024), ESPN - channel 15 and ESPN2 - channel 16 have live coverage starting at 4 pm west coast time (6 pm east coast time). But 16 was not scheduled to be recorded. 2 - Scheduled recordings are getting lost on the day of the scheduled recording. Again using the example from above, the scheduled recording of US open on ESPN - channel 15 at 4 pm on August 28, 2024 showed as scheduled to be recorded as late as August 27, 2024, but bit after midnight, at the start of August 28, 2024, the guide no longer showed that program as being scheduled. The DVR gets reset at 3 am, not at midnight, so this issue was unrelated to a DVR reset. For the first 2 issues, I record individual programs, which show up on the guide as scheduled to be recorded with a single red dot, as opposed to the series 3 red dots, which are getting lost. 3 - Single or series recordings are failing to get recorded. I can check the guide to verify that a program is scheduled to be recorded 1 or 2 hours before the recording should start, but sometimes the recording never starts. If I happen to notice the DRVs' red recording light did not turn on, I can manually record the remainder of the program, but will have lost the part before I started the manual recording. Again, these problems started with the change to Contour 2, and have been occurring going back at least to Jan 2023 (Australian tennis open), and probably back to sometime in 2022, for any of the major tennis tournaments. I have been able to connect to Apple TV Plus until this week. I cannot connect now for no reason. Netflix,Prime, Hulu all connect just fine but Apple gives me an error message to check my internet connection. So I fell behind due to medical issues and now have to pay extra for making a physical payment in a store so that I get a physical receipt and now I'm being charged $50 for 2 payments which were made in store. This has me VERY heated and having a very negative outlook about Cox Communications. Earlier this morning a Cox representative told me that I would NOT have any interpretation in my services as long as I pay by Friday no later than 6pm. Only now, I have been suspended and I'm tempted to say **bleep** it and let it go all together! I moved from an apartment to a new construction townhome. i transfered my services, however new equipment was needed. a cox technician came with the new equipment on move in day and hooked everything up. A week later, i had took the old equipment back to the cox store like i was instructed to do. Eveything from the box to the hdmi cords were returned. Why is cox sending me emails about unreturned equipment fee will be charged? i called and informed them, everything has been returned. Today, im getting another email, saying the unreturned fee is being applied. I look at the serial number, and i noticed that it matches to the box the cox technician gave me on move in day. I was told by Cox that I needed to upgrade my cable boxes which were working fine. We were given the Contour boxes and they have been nothing but trouble. At least 2 or 3 times a day we have to reboot the boxes. When we try to watch Netflix after about 20 minutes the television shuts down. Having to reboot my modem more than usual, I noticed that I was eligible for an upgrade. It says that this will be at No Additional Cost. But if you go deeper into pricing, it is only $0 for the first month. After that, $15 a month. That should be made clear up front. Am I having modem issues because Cox wants more money? My tv pixels all the time on my main Contour Box and the tv connected to the contour small box in my bedroom freezes almost daily and I have to reset it. I got all new equipment about 6 months ago it worked better for awhile and now’s it’s back to this. I have also missed multiple Olympic events because of this. Very frustrating. Hello, I recently installed a Wireless 4K Contour Stream Player. I'm able to stream On Demand programming, but the TV channels won't play. I see the guide, but when I select a channel, I get an error message "Sorry we're having trouble." and it wants me to restart my equipment. (XRE-10007 is the message number at the bottom). I've done that many times. I've also used the online chat to ask for technical help. They basically just restarted my equipment also. They didn't seem to be much help. They wanted to send a technician out but were going to charge me $100. Forget that, for some equipment I didn't even know was coming with my upgraded internet package. I wondered if it might be a signal strength thing, but I wouldn't think I could stream programming from the on-demand apps then either. I might test that when I have time. Searching forums, I saw posts saying maybe enabling MoCA might help, but I'm not able to find that. How do I check this?
