I have a Western Digital PR4100 NAS, and it connects to my router via ethernet. It's 1GBPS. That being said, is your NAS USB 3, or USB 2. I tried finding the adapter on addonics page, they MAY no longer be making it? USB3 is needed for bidirectional communication, USB 2, is not, it's half duplex, meaning it can only send or receive, not both at the same time, something I think is needed for a NAS to function at it's best.

like my question said: I do not have an NAS. I have an adapter cable that convert my usb connection to ethernet. My external drive is USB 3.0. I'm just going to have to resurrect an old laptop and connect the external there and Share it to the network. PITA but oh well.
