I am scheduled for gigablast install on 12/27 and I have a couple of questions and concerns. The main issue is I will need the modem/router to be installed in the same place I currently have it installed in my upstairs "computer center." The problem is there is really no way to get any wires over there through the attic like the original cable install. The reason is that the side of the house where the Cox port is has no access to the attic due to vaulted ceilings. And the builder decided it was a good idea to staple the existing cable to the rafters and studs, so you can't just pull anything through either.
The only alternative is to run the fiber wire under the eaves then go through the upper attic where I do have access, then to that room. I have already fished a wire through that upper attic to the outlet, so all I need the installer to do is get it from the Cox port to the upper attic by running about 30 feet under the eaves. So...the question is, will the installer put this modem where I need it? I have tried to make it as easy as possible by doing the wall fish in advance. I want to make sure there are no restrictions to running the fiber under the eaves to get it where I need it. Maybe a lot of it depends on the installer. I know they will want to run it right through the wall where the port is on my house, but that is my living room and don't want my modem there.
Does anyone have experience with an install like this? Possibly one of the moderators could answer as well. Thanks!
