Just to be clear, Incoming settings on an iPad and iphone:
SSL is on
server port 993
imap.cox.net

Outgoing settings
SSL is on
server port 465
smtp.cox.net
—-
And outgoing email is not functional. Incoming email works.

UPDATE after spending 2 hours each on the phone with tech support at both Apple and Cox. We set the outgoing server to 587 then The Cox tech reset my incoming and outgoing passwords. We then put in new passwords manually The email send and receive began working soon there after on both iPad and IPhone. I have no idea what was done or why it worked.
