Utility Markings 5G or Fiber

Hi,

I'm posting in the forum to ask a question regarding whether or not you might know the purpose of the utility markings spray painted on my property.

There are red lines spray painted in my alley and backyard.

There is an orange circle spray painted in my backyard. I read that orange spray paint marks telecommunication utilities.

Is someone going to install a small 5G cell tower or a fiber line in my backyard? I don't want a cell tower on my property.

I live in Kenner, Louisiana.

    I would suspect the communications pedestal in 1 of your images before a 5G tower.  If you've noticed any utility vehicles alongside the main thoroughfare of your neighborhood in recent history, they were probably laying fiber.  Once the main lines are laid, utility crews would then replace tributary lines within neighborhoods to the nodes and pedestals.  Orange lines would be the run and circles probably akin to manhole covers.  They'll dig.

    5G towers don't really need to be tall...50-200 feet...so your house would probably prevent any line-of-sight for users.

    The customer support rep said Cox doesn't build cell towers and there are no tickets open currently in my area showing Cox performing any work.

    I'm seeing many utility vehicles in my neighborhood. They recently installed smart meters on my condo building and I noticed a new box on the utility pole across the street. I guess the box is a smart meter relay device.

    I've read a number of news articles about 5G rollout in my parish, but I haven't seen any new cell towers yet. I've seen many powerline snowshoes. I guess those are fiber cables.

      Smart meters would be wireless meters for the utility companies to get your meter readings.  They installed here a few years ago and now I see the gas company driving around collecting wireless readings.

      Cox rep didn't find any Cox work but the rep probably didn't look for contractor work.  I don't think Cox surveys (orange lines) but instead contracts a company.

    They're installing a 5G tower, less than 6 feet high. That's what a foreign workman said. The police officer that I called to my condo said the workmen are with AT&T.

      Would a 5G tower in your yard have any communicative advantage?  If not, I'd tie my rottweiler to it.

      Are you connected to this thing?  If so, does your house have coax or fiber?  If coax, something inside needs to covert light to electronic signal.  That'd require power unless there a battery inside.

    I've got a Cox Internet Starter coax connection and a Consumer Cellular dumb phone. I'm not looking forward to the 5G revolution.
