I wholeheartedly agree. We have been getting mailers, phone calls, emails making it sound like if we didn't upgrade our phone it was gonna stop working. We finally capitulated, and today I came home to a brand new ugly **** modem sitting literally in the middle of my kitchen counter with a stiff white coaxial cable sticking out making literally impossible to put the modem anywhere else. And since the phone has to be plugged into the modem I guess we are stuck with this horrible set up. I think I am going to just cancel COX all together, add a cellphone to my ATT plan and use it as my home phone. At least it will work during a power outage without shelling out another 120 bucks to rent a battery or shell out to buy one outright. Cox, please consider actually providing a service and products to us that are warranted and needed. Oh wait, that doesn't work since the providers monopolize markets making us essentially slaves to their whims. Add in some repeal of net neutrality and the Cox's of the world get to continue to stick it to us. At this point, screw all these companies.
