Last Saturday, I woke up to all of my recordings on my DVR gone (it was about 60% full. Tried refreshes and resets with tech support and nothing worked. It just kept happening. I'd record something, and then a few hours later it was gone. Went to a Cox store yesterday and swapped the box out for a Contour 2 and now I don't get any of my basic cable or premium channels. If I go to ESPN or HBO or MTV I get the XRE-03121 error. After refreshes and reboots for hours last night with tech support I've still got the same issue. The tech escalated the ticket, but after reading the posts about this error, it sounds like I'm gonna need a tech to come out. I currently have a Contour 1 DVR with 6 tuners. My second identical DVR recently broke and I found out during an attemptedswap out at the local Cox Store that Cox no longer allows two DVR's on the same network. I ended up with a client box instead that is fed from my remaining DVR. So I am used to having 12 tuners available for recording. I see the Cox Ultimate DVR with 24 tuners on the Cox web site, but no real information on how it works or is configured. 1. Can it store recordings locally or is everything stored in the Cloud? 2. Does it require Panoramic Internet from Cox? 3. What is the true cost, (the web site shows a $10 bump from $20 to $30 a month when going from 6 to 24 tuners) Any hidden costs I should expect? 4. When l signed up for internet and added contour television, I was told no box was needed, why don't you make your contour app available to Roku and Fire tv, Directv Now and Sling tv were not afraid, stop jerking us customers around and do the right thing, why should we be forced to wear out our pc's, laptops, and tablets, streaming Cox television to our big screens, just because Cox thinks it can force us to rent a box? I am unable to watch Paramount+ shows on my Contour host box (brand new today).On the host box, when I select the episode and choose to go to Paramount+ (watch options), I get an ad, then a spinny circle in the upper left, and that's it. Spinny circle forever or eventually an error code. I am able to watch Paramount+ shows on the client box. It shows an ad and then the show starts up fine. We upgraded to a Contour 2 system with three boxes just over a year ago. We've had ongoing issues, but in the last couple of month, the issues have worsened. Trying to playback recorded programs is a master class in frustration. We have picture freezes, sound dropouts, or both. More recently, we simply get an error message popping up right in the middle of the program and it crashes out. A technician has come out and said there are issues upstream of the pedestal out in the yard that they were supposed to come look at. Calling back after nothing has changed results in the operator telling us that what I'm describing is a known issue with the Contour 2 and they're working on it. Looking at the forums, it looks like this has been a known problem for quite some time, although the support operator led us to believe it was a recent issue. So what's the real story? And maybe in the interest of customer satisfaction , Cox could have informed us they know about the issue with our service without wasting our time with service calls? One of the techs put a call on hold saying we were in a gated community when that's not the case. No phone call whatsoever. We were forced to reschedule the tech, even though at the end of the day it turns out there's nothing he can do anyway.1.4KViews1like3Comments
