Question about Acceptable Use Policy regarding server?
Hello Cox, I have a question about the Acceptable Use Policy regarding servers for home residential use. I'm a residential customer and I am thinking about setting up my own private FTP server so that I can access my office documents and that's it. I will protect the FTP server by securing it and require a login. I know that I will only use my own FTP server for personal use just to access my office documents like spreadsheet and more. NO illegal files or anything like that. Just office documents because I want to access my office documents to log my mileage on my car for example, work on research papers, things like that. I also heard that setting up an FTP server would only require port 21. I looked on Cox regarding blocked ports and port 21 is not listed on the blocked ports. However, I know that according to the AUP, I am not allowed to set up a server. But I am not sure if setting up a private FTP server with port 21 not being listed on the blocked ports violates the AUP. I want to make sure that I am not violating any AUP. Also, is port 21 allowed? Can someone from Cox confirm whether this is allowed or not? I am asking this question on the Cox Support Forum for a reason. I don't want to just attempt a bullseye with a complete blindfold.
