Cox Cable scam call?
I've been receiving calls from an 814-704-6974 number and the caller ID comes up as COX CABLE. I picked up once and there was a distant voice on the other side of the line but no one said anything. I just wanna make sure this number is a scam before I block it and I'm not missing any important information. Thank you:)Solved157Views0likes3Commentsis it normal for cox customer support to ask for your ID and password? contour tv error tvapp-00281 is why i contact cs
currently my contour tv internet doesnt work. using watchtv.cox.com i get currently resuming and then error code tvapp-00281. im using google chrome, but i tested it on firefox and on a different computer. same error. while contacting cox customer support this is what they asked: 10:55:32 AM [Ray N.] Ok. I am working on the ticket. For troubleshooting, the back-office video support team requests your Cox User ID and password. Are you willing to give that to us? at the end of the conversation they summited a ticket (my problem is still there). so two questions. anyone know why im getting this error and is it normal for cs to ask for your login and password. i refuse to give it to ray.1.1KViews0likes6CommentsPhishing Scam?
Last night I signed up for Cox service and an installation at my new apartment. I received a text to schedule a phone call to discuss/confirm my appointment for the installation. The number called me at the agreed upon time, and prompted me to press 1. The man on the other end wanted my phone number associated with the account, PIN for my account, and answer to my security question. This sounds insanely sketchy. The number that texted and called me was addressed in Reno Texas, and was1-800-234-3993. Need to confirm this is a legitimate Cox Communications representative.3KViews0likes12CommentsBait and switch?
Been a Cox subscriber a little over a year now. Moved into a brand new apartment community that was pre-wired for Cox services. The apartment came with a modem that will ultimately transfer to the next renter after I'm gone. I'm a simple user and only need internet, and nothing extreme either. I'm not a gamer or doing anything requiring super fast upload or download speeds. My first year as a subscriber I was paying $70.00 per month for the "Internet Preferred 250" plan. After the year the cost went up to $90.00 per month. I recently had a service need and logged into my Cox account for the first time in ages and I discovered that other plans exist. Upon my search I discovered a plan that, lo and behold, is the EXACT same plan as the one I'm currently subscribed to. It's even called"Internet Preferred 250" plan, with not one single difference in services offered. Same download speed of up to 250 Mbps, same upload speed of up to 250 Mbps, same being ideal for 5-7 devices, and same included data of 1.25 TB per month. But guess what, it's only $70.99 per month!!! What's the catch? The catch is you need to have a tech come out to your residence and change your modem for a fee of a $100.00.I mean really, it requires a new modem for the EXACT same service? This seems deceptive and feels wrong to me. Am I being unreasonable thinking this smells rotten to the core?1.9KViews0likes11CommentsFAKE COX GUY CALLING IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA NAMED ALEX...from COX COMUNICATNS (missed spelled)

I went in today and picked up my equipment after ordering online, I received an estimated bill of $72.99 when I get my equipment and leave i get a new bill for $92.99 I find out Cox care was added to my bill and not given a reason for the other $10 increase. They won't let me speak to a manager. My first experience with cox I knew this was a mistake, I cant wait to cancel my service what a terrible company I cant wait to file as many complaints as I can. Im pretty sure adding services with out concent is illegal.709Views0likes2CommentsPhone Scam? I was supposedly called from Cox from 402-526-7359
Phone Scam? I was supposedly called from Cox from 402-526-7359 and told that if I pay $99, that my monthly charges from Cox would go down $25 for the next two years. And, they wanted me to give them a credit card number to charge the $99 to. I didn't give them my card number. Was this a scam?717Views0likes2CommentsThis is how COX cheat its customers
We always think we are given what we paid for. False. Most customers do not know how to check and confirm they are given the speed they paid for. and cox use that to cheat and steal their customer Here is an example, I pay for a 50Mb, however Cox speed tester detect that I haveESSENTIAL 30 with 30Mb speed. and after taking the test it shows a speed of 16Mb here is a picture of my speed test indicating that I am on a 30mb plan and saying my speed is 16Mbhttps://imgur.com/lu2jlcJand here is a picture of my plan saying I am in a 50Mb speedhttps://imgur.com/KpEP7AD1.8KViews0likes6CommentsCOX data measuring tool is off
I have been going back and forth with COX for about a month now trying to explain that their traffic analyzer is off but have only been told that it can't be because they work with a "third party" who's own 2018 report show that theyDO have a chance over over counting traffic used. There has been no report for 2019 released to the public yet so it is impossible to verify if they fixed the issue. The problem is that I've spoken to my router manufacturer who has assured me that as long as my router firmware is up to date the wifi traffic should be accurate to the KB. After my own research I've found that the only way to be sure of the traffic used on wifi is to take the measurement from the router (which I do) and nothing else (COX uses the modem) so I'm starting to think that they are sending a fair amount of data to my modem (my personal modem not theirs) and then charging me for it, which they shouldn't do per their support reps, or their measuring tool is off which they wont even consider. I'm curious if anyone else has run into this issue or even just COX's refusal to engage with their paying customers about possible issues.587Views0likes2Comments
