SLOW Streaming Netflix/Amazon (using wireless Internet)
I have a Samsung "smart tv", and a Tivo, both are connected via wireless to my internet service with Cox. Both, are super slow, lag, or quit on me, telling me my internet speed is too slow, or my connection is lost, etc. This happens when I am using Netflix, or Amazon Prime to watch movies (or tv episodes). And it happens whether I am streaming through my TV or through my Tivo. Only one is used at at a time, no other wireless is used in my house while I'm trying to use the TV/or Tivo. Does anyone have any suggestions of how I can fix this? (do I need to upgrade internet speed, buy better wireless adapters for TV and Tivo; connect directly to modem??? or anything else?) I have the Cisco DPQ3925 router/gateway and noticed that the wireless coverage in my townhouse varies considerably. Does anyone have an idea how the built-in antennae are oriented and what the shape of the covered space is? It seems that the signal at the top is much stronger that at the bottom. Could anyone confirm? Thanks.Solved5.6KViews0likes5CommentsLinksys AE3000 on a SBG6580 Modem
I am having HUGE issues with my internet using my Linksys AE3000. My internalwireless adapter works on my laptop without any hangups or drops at all. My AE3000 when plugged in works for 5 minutes and freezes and has to be reset on both my desktop and laptop using newest drivers and old drives with doing fresh installs each time. I sent in 1 AE3000 to be replaced and the new one does the same thing. I even had it plugged into my laptopright next to the modem and still did it. Then when I unplugged it and turned on the laptops internal wireless the laptop worked fine. I have reformatted, released and refreshed my IP, direct connected cable modem to cable hardline with NO splitters, replaced AE3000 Unit, tested on twodifferent computers which did not work, Internal laptop adapter works fine,uninstalled/deleted drivers/registrys and reinstalled fresh copys.Linksys support was worthless. My internetdoesn'twork when the modem/router (a Motorola SB901) is connected to the wall via a splitter. That is, the main cord out of the wall to a splitter, and a cable going to the tv and one also to the modem/router. It works fine if I bypass the splitter and plug it directly to the wall. The entire system worked fine, until one day it just decided not to. I have tried three different splitters, thinking that that was the issue, but nothing works. I use a Motorola SB6121 for a cable modem and airport extreme for wireless router. The motorola is 5 months old. For about ten days we experienced wide variations in wireless connectivity, from .5 mps download to 30 mps. This was entirely new after 5 months of cox internet service working great. I spoke with COX and they checked signal strength on live, walked me through a series of reboots of modem and router. They checked the signal on their end. They said it was not a problem on their end. I spoke with motorola and they walked me through a series of diagnostics and resets of their modem. The signal via a direct Ethernet cable from the modem to the computer worked great at that time. I spoke with Apple and they ran me through diagnostics and finally replaced by airport extreme (it was under warranty). Results: 1. When I first hooked up the router and the cable modem after the router was replaced, I had a great signal -- 32 mps, which is as good as it gets here. 2. 4 hours later the connection dropped and then became very slow. 3. I plugged the cable modem directly into my computer and got a full signal. I left it oversight doing an offline backup. 4. The connection was lost during the night with a direct hookup to the cable modem. It seems the problem is clearly not the modem or the router but something in the cox system, as none of these pieces of equipment causes the problem. They are new equipment. What shall I do?Solved3.8KViews0likes2CommentsWireless constantly disconnects
My wireless connection constantly disconnects. The time it takes for each disconnect to occur varies between 5 seconds and about 10 minutes. Sometimes the only way to get it connected again is to reset the modem, sometimes if you just do nothing the connection comes back on it's own. The wireless connection is never steady for more than about 10 minutes during any time of the day. This is with all devices using wireless connections (3 different laptops, 3 different phones, PS3, etc). The Xbox 360 I have set up with a wired connection works fine and seems to never disconnect, same when I use a wired connection on my laptop (though it does seem to be slower than advertised). I'm at work at the moment, so all I can say now is that I have the high speed ultimate package with a Cisco modem (Dpq3925? not entirely sure on the model number, can update once I get home) and I am in the Newport News, VA area.2.8KViews0likes0CommentsModem for Wireless
Hello, I just signed up for service and received my modem, but i don't think it's wireless. There is an iPad in the house. Could you tell me how to configure this modem for wireless and if it doesn't have wireless capabilities, how can I get one. It's a Cisco DPQ32122.7KViews0likes1CommentWireless vs LAN connectivity issues
Just got internet service. Over LAN I can stream video and play games with no problem. Over wireless I can't stream a video even if I'm sitting right next to the router. My devices (which were perfectly fine using wireless at my last home) have continuous connectivity issues and are constantly freezing to the point that they actually need to be rebooted. Does Cox offer a decent wireless router? I have no idea which one I have, but it's horrible. If Cox doesn't offer a decent wireless router, can I buy one and just connect it to the existing cable hookup? Thanks for any help.2.3KViews0likes1Comment
