IMAP Mail Not Synching and More With Apple Mail (Mac OS 10.9x)
Hello, Is there a fix and/or is there a support case that addresses IMAP email accounts not syncing with Apple Mail in Mac OS 10.9x (Mavericks)? Ever since the upgrade to Mavericks (and taking that opportunity to switch my email accounts from POP to IMAP), all Cox accounts have not been synching with my desktop Mac, but have worked flawlessly with the same accounts on an iPhone and iPad. It takes closing/opening Mail to make things right again. This has gone on for a month now, but just within the last few days I have sent messages and there has been no record of such in my Sent Folder (either on any device or via WebMail login). Some emails have made it to their destination, while others haven't. This issue is growing with other Apple customers as seen on their forum site. I have called Apple and Cox, spent hours on this issue, all without any solutions. In the end Apple blames Cox and Cox blames Apple. Regardless, there seems to be no progress by anyone to finally correct this issue. For what it is worth, here is the most persistent error log entry for email that is sent and lost: 12/12/13 12:43:54.448 PM Mail[47011] Error Error Domain=NSPOSIXErrorDomain Code=60 "The connection to the server “imap.cox.net” on port 993 timed out." My husband has an iPhone 4S that was successfully receiving our Cox emails. However, he wasn't able to send emails from the Cox account on his phone. When I tried to add a "test" account to his phone, I was happily surprised that settings were automatically detected and I didn't have to enter any server or port settings. I sent him a test email, he replied, the new account could both receive and send, everything seemed great. I deleted the original account from the phone. The next day, my husband said that emails he'd read on his phone had disappeared. After searching both Cox and Apple support pages and forums yesterday, it seems that at least part of the problem is, when I add an email account, once I enter the Cox info, it says "Verified" and takes me to the next screen that says "IMAP" right across the top. There's no POP option, which we had before. The mail settings with IMAP include options like How long to keep deleted items, but nothing about keeping messages in the Inbox. Maybe the idea with IMAP *is* to get rid of messages you've already read -- I hadn't heard of IMAP until this experience -- but if that's the case, then we want our POP option back, so my husband can refer back to a recent message that he's already read on his phone. Thank you in advance for any info or suggestions!7.4KViews0likes5CommentsApple HomePod disconnecting from internet
I’m running on a Motorola Surfboard modem and a Netgear Nighthawk router. WiFi has been great and has not had any issues. I have a Google Home, Amazon Echo, Nest thermostat, Hue bulbs, iMac, iPad, iPhone, PS4, etc. that work flawlessly on my WiFi. Yesterday I purchased 3 Apple HomePod devices and connected them to my network. Every minute or two they all lose internet connection, and about a minute later they work again. I’ve reset the devices and power cycled my modem and router but the issue continues. All other devices are working fine. I called Apple Support and ended up being handed off to one of their senior level techs. The first thing he asked me is if I had internet through Cox. He said that they have received numerous complaints similar to mine over the past 24 hours and the common theme is that everyone experiencing the issue has Cox as their internet provider. Has anyone else heard about this? The really strange part is how it is only affecting my Apple HomePods and everything else works fine. At any rate, they said their engineers are looking into it, but that it might be a good idea to contact Cox to make sure they are aware of the issue. Any advice on how to get this resolved would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.5.4KViews0likes7CommentsWhy are emails sent from Apple to my Cox address being blocked?
Starting Friday night my messages feature stopped working on my iPad. After lengthy diagnostics with Apple I have come to find my email address can not be verified by Apple. I've used the same email for 12 yrs. one of Apples senior technical support advisors attempted to email me while we spoke. The email was immediately returned to him as blocked. I have not blocked them or anyone for that matter. The Cox support staff has been anything but supportive, telling me to wait 48 hrs before contacting them again.4.8KViews0likes14CommentsCox HS Router and my Airport Extreme Router
So tomorrow, I'm supposed to have a guy come out and possibly install Cox HS (Home Security). I told the sales guy that in NO WAY shape or form were they to mess with my existing Airport Extreme router and they said they could do it without touching it. I asked if I was getting a seperate line ( meaning modem and router) just for the Cox HS. THe sales guy couldn't answer. So I'm asking those who have Cox HS....do they install a seperate line for this service?4.3KViews0likes1Commentterrible signal strength and loss of connection
I use a Motorola SB6121 for a cable modem and airport extreme for wireless router. The motorola is 5 months old. For about ten days we experienced wide variations in wireless connectivity, from .5 mps download to 30 mps. This was entirely new after 5 months of cox internet service working great. I spoke with COX and they checked signal strength on live, walked me through a series of reboots of modem and router. They checked the signal on their end. They said it was not a problem on their end. I spoke with motorola and they walked me through a series of diagnostics and resets of their modem. The signal via a direct Ethernet cable from the modem to the computer worked great at that time. I spoke with Apple and they ran me through diagnostics and finally replaced by airport extreme (it was under warranty). Results: 1. When I first hooked up the router and the cable modem after the router was replaced, I had a great signal -- 32 mps, which is as good as it gets here. 2. 4 hours later the connection dropped and then became very slow. 3. I plugged the cable modem directly into my computer and got a full signal. I left it oversight doing an offline backup. 4. The connection was lost during the night with a direct hookup to the cable modem. It seems the problem is clearly not the modem or the router but something in the cox system, as none of these pieces of equipment causes the problem. They are new equipment. What shall I do?Solved3.8KViews0likes2Commentscant connect iphone 4s and ipad to wifi after ios 6 update
i updated my iphone 4s and ipad to ios6, and now they wont connect to home wifi. my iphone 4s does connect to wifi at work, so i know it can work, and our iphone 4 (also updated to ios6) connects to home wifi, so i know home wifi works. already changed all router settings to apple's recommendations, that didnt fix it if i restore factory defaults to the router, then, and only then, will it connect...but that's no good either... i cant even change the name of the network, and instantly it stops working. have a belkin n600 router any ideas?3.2KViews0likes0CommentsiPhone removing email
