JUST ORDERED CENTURYLINK - Goodbye Cox and Packet Loss Issues
Cox Team - You're officially being fired! This move is a direct result of your failure to remedy gross packet loss issues. I and many others did our part to help solve the problem - actually far beyond what's normally expected of customers. I've spent countless hours of my personal time on the phone, forums, running tests, talking to techs, swapping equipment, etc. all because I wanted to help fix the issue and remain a customer, after all I've been a loyal one for 12+ years. Most depressing thing about this situation is Cox's response - "It's not on our end." You see, regardless of what the true technical issue may be or where it truly resides, Cox ISthe "internet" to the end user. The technical components you leverage to provide services are not your customers concerns. Fact of the matter is your service, and it's been proven, is part of the problem, thus is your responsibility to work to correct, through whatever means necessary. I'm a manager in IT and this concept is not rocket science. I hope this continues to be a thorn in your side and I strongly urge customers who are experiencing this issue to jump ship and impress upon Cox's upper management that this IS a problem and it's not going away. I've included below a ton of documentation to illustrate how rampant this issue is for everyone out there. I do not know how to explain this any better. The packet loss here is unplayable. I'm going to keep this very simple by saying: 1. I love to game. 2. I love to stream my gameplay. 3. It's impossible. Please don'twaste my time by asking for stupid tracer routes etc. because we all already know the issue is in your service. It can't possibly be a personal issue when there are hundreds of people on this forum with the same problem. Just type in the search bar: Packet loss while playing fortnite. Things I have already attempted: New high-end gaming router. New modem New LAN cable New $2000 PC (To ensure there is no problem in my equipment.) What's interesting is the fact that upon using a VPN, my packet loss was absolutely gone. Hmm, I wonder if this supports the fact that the issue is in the service itself. I would simply play with the VPN, but the problem is that of course, it causes high ping. Here is a video of my gameplay with just cox's service (sorry for the quality was in a rush): Let's see what COX support can cook up this time in response to my claim and I swear if this man asks me for a god *** tracer route or ping plotteragain..... I guess I'll just have to change ISP's.5.6KViews1like6CommentsOne condensed sentence that sums up the entire problem: When cox users go to utilize there upstream while connecting to services on AWS such as playing FORTNITE or streaming to TWITCH their incurring packet loss causing online gaming to be impossible or d
Hello Cox, I'm a fellow gigablast internet subscriber that is having the same exact issues as A LOT OF people in the southern California region. I'm in San Diego and I have amazing download speeds reaching that of 950+ consistently. Speedtest results:www.speedtest.net/.../7867448045 Networking Equipment: Tried 2 different Docsis 3.1's and both encountered same issue thus not LAN Cat 7 cables Multiple devices tested: Xbox X, 2,000$ PC (Both experience the same packet loss symptoms) ^The only reason I listed the above is to give you a sense that my equipment is top of the line equipment. The data loss isn't coming from the equipment nor the LAN Now the huge problem which degrades the entire service is this constant packet loss while using upstream towards AWS servers. I have diagnosed this through using ping plotter and viewing packet loss in between hubs passing data. The intensive upstream applications that I have experienced packet loss with are twitch (while streaming) and Fortnite. The Fortnite lag is so unbearable. All throughout the day 24/7 there is a constant nonstop packet loss ranging from 1%-6% then sporadic jumps up to 32% or so. It literally makes the game impossible to play as gunfights within the game are losing frames and data causing me to be essentially at a disadvantage 24/7. I understand sending out Techs is the first option and step to resolving this, however, by the looks of this issue it seems systematic. We as customers pay for our service to dependable and up to date as this is 2018. We want to play this game while it's popular and not 4 months from now when you deserve to believe this is a huge problem. There is in reality data loss on the upstream end of things causing Fortnite to be unplayable. The only game I play right now is Fortnite thus me having to be subjected and forced into packet loss by an incompetent ISP who either is over utilizing nodes or using incompetent hubs that incur data loss is petty in 2018. I have had 3 techs and the most recent one(DEC7) said there was data loss and they would have maintenance crews out there and if by Sunday the packet loss is till there notify someone. One condensed sentence that sums up the entire problem: When cox users go to utilize there upstream while connecting to services on AWS such as playing FORTNITE or streaming to TWITCH their incurring packet loss causing online gaming to be impossible or degraded services. I need this fixed please! I want to play fornite and knowing that every single gunfight is utterly affected by ISP issues makes it useless and a waste to play.Solved5.5KViews1like10CommentsCOX + AWS VPN Client terrible pack loss
I WFH and my company is switching from a Cisco VPN Client to AWS VPN Client. My internet is amazing (230D/10U) when I am not on a VPN and works pretty good when connected to Cisco VPN. However whenever I connect to AWS VPN Client I have intermittent terrible connection times, small image/js assets (<1mb) for a webpage or email will take a minute to reach my client. In working closely with my network engineers it appears the issue is between Cox and AWS, how does the issue get resolved? I won't be able to do my job when we make the switch.2.7KViews0likes8CommentsCox packet loss to amazon web services
Hello, For the past 9 months I have struggled with the most frustrating issue playing games using Cox as my ISP. The issue is between the connection of Cox communications and amazon web services. The games that use amazon web services ( that I play at least) are : Fortnite, Rocket League, Mordhau, and PUBG. A Cox employee will likely comment on this post that they have pinged my router and seen no traces of packet loss (because thats not what im saying), so before that happens please understand that the issue is between Cox and AWS. I need this fixed or I am done with Cox. For anyone who reads this and has the same frustrating issues, just know that Cox sweeps this under the rug by locking every post about it. Anyone who reads this who has not yet swapped to Cox and plays and AAA title games that use AWS for their servers, please do yourself a favor and stay away. FIX IT. Thanks,2.1KViews0likes7CommentsExtreme latency and blackouts while working in Amazon Workspace
All cabling has been replaced, I am direct connected to my Netgear AC1600 modem and currently pay Cox for 300 Mbps Download speed. When I run a speed test while I am in Amazon Workspace, the download speed is ~77.9. When I am outside AWS, it's 325. I have to use AWS for work and I am unable to work. The latency is absolutely unbearable and many times my screens completely black out before coming back on, at which time the security protocol pops on indicating I've been disconnected and now am reconnected. I have gone through an update on AWS and corporate IT can find no reason for the latency or connect issues on this corporate laptop from their standpoint. Please help me resolve this problem. I am at a loss at where else to look to resolve the problem. Thank you!948Views0likes4Comments
