Cox bill, prices and options
I have been a loyal cox customer for some time now but with the recent billing hike I have been looking at my options. Our bill went from $156 monthly up to $210. When I called asking about it, basically I was told the rebates had dropped off. After almost an hour with the very unhelpful rep we were finally offered to use our free 25m internet upgrade to reduce our cost down to $168 for 3 months. Next month this rebate will also drop off and I will be back to $210 per month. We have Advanced TV (330 channels), one DVR, 15m internet, and phone service. We have no movie packages at all. We are under no contract and knowing the trouble we recently had regarding any type of rebate I am looking at my other options. I priced Direct TV and I can have 4 DVR's, 380 channels w/ multiple movie channels as well as the same channels I currently have, their price is $110 per month after all the rebates expire in three years. With rebates this package is only $78. So I can have their tv service and cox internet and only be paying $133 initially and finally $165 after all rebates expire. Please Cox tell me why your company is so unwilling to keep a current customer when your competition offers a much better deal. I have asked about the new customer pricing, but because I am already a customer, and because I already have the TV/Internet/phone package I do not qualify.4.2KViews0likes0CommentsBundling of services
I have been a customer for a year. My bill just jumped from $132 a month to $192 a month due to the end of a promotion. I added phone services a few months after I built my own internet/tv bundle. Does anyone know if it is possible for an existing customer to bundle their old services in order to get a low price?3.9KViews0likes2CommentsWhich Internet Bundle to Pick?
Good morning! I am moving into a new apartment the beginning of May and am going to be getting Cox Internet and TV. I'm just wondering which bundle would be sufficient for my TV watching and internet browsing needs. Right now, it looks like there is a 50 MBS, 100 MBS, and 150 MBS option for the internet. In the apartment, it's going to be just me so I'm wondering if I can just go with the 50 MBS option to save some money. I do surf the internet a lot, including watching YouTube, downloading music, and web design. I watch a lot of TV and will be watching Netflix through wifi on the Roku player. My question is, is 50 MBS enough for me? Or should I just go with 100 MBS. Thank you so much!1.9KViews0likes0CommentsInternet Speeds
I have Cox Gigablast (Coaxial) bundle with contour TV (7 cable boxes) and contour voice (phones work on the 1.9ghz) with the panoramic gateway but I disabled the wifi on the gateway because its signal is not good at all for my 7000 square foot home and I connected a Luxul XWR 3150 V2 AC-3100 Dual - Band router that has 4 external antennas, which I bought 2 days ago with the Cat5e cable that came with the router. On the 5ghz wifi, I only get maximum of 450 mbps, 2 feet away from the router. Shouldn't I be getting atleast 800 or 900 mbps? I understand 1000 mbps is very unlikely but I am not satisfied with 450 mbps. Cox changed the spiltters in August. I have tried the speed tests on multiple different channels and 450 mbps is the highest I've got. I've power cycled the gateway and the router and multiple speed tests. The DNS is set to Google's Public DNS. Nothing on my network is a old that would slow down my speeds. The coaxial cable is as tight and I've had others make sure the connection is tight. How can I get close to the speeds I am paying for?1.4KViews0likes3Comments
