I am not getting the speeds I am paying for!
So as I mentioned in the title I am not getting the "108 Mbps and11 Mbps" that the cox speed test is showing. I have aMotorolasurfboard sbg6782-ac so I don't believe that the modem/router is the problem. You may wonder how I know I'm not getting the speed that I am PAYING for and that is because of this site testmy.net. It has manyexplanationsof whycertaininternet tests aren'tcompletelytrue. Secondly I have been trying to stream on Twitch.tv and the quality is based off of upload and computer hardware. When doing this you need to set a max bit rate setting which is based off of your upload, and if I were to go by what cox is saying, 10Mbps, I should be able to put that setting on the max. But guess what, I can't. It can only work when the setting is at 1000kb/s which means I am only getting about 1Mbps - 1.5Mbps. Also if you use the speed test that I posted above you will see that(might not be for all) your download is about half of what the cox speed test says. While yes there is somevariablesthat will make it so that you don't get 100% of what you pay, 50% seems a littleridiculous. So I am posting to see if others might have this problem and have found a solution or if cox will hopefully give me what I am paying for. I am still having connection problems this is very annoying. My signal are very good so I am assuming that it is a problem with cox or how my account was setup. Ethernet and wireless mess up, furthermore I was hoping that if a moderator could check my account. Please playing online games is impossible sometimes as my ping number is above 400ms. This has to be a problem with I have very good signal and SNR levels so that can't be on my end. We have a cable modem and router (separate units) that we have supplied ourselves (that is, they are not ones we rent from Cox). Does Cox limit the number of devices (e.g. laptop, Macbook Pro, iPhones, iPads, Roku boxes, etc.) that I can connect to the internet through my router? I heard someone mention once that they had an issue with the number of devices that their ISP allowed them to connect to their Wi-Fi router, but I wasn't sure if that was something that Cox did or not.8.9KViews0likes1CommentIntermittent Internet - Started Today 10/25/2015
Starting this morning, Sunday 10/25/15 I have been troubleshooting an intermittent internet problem. As always, I reset the cable modem and routers and it would work on the reboot, but then the become intermittent again. I checked the modem (an Arris SURFboard SBG6782-AC)diagnostics and found that due to T3 and T 4 errors, the modem was resetting. On searching for an explanation it appears that low signal levels or noise could be the problem. T3 ( Ranging Request Retries Exhausted ) Explanation: The cable modem has sent 16 Ranging Request (RNG-REQ) messages without receiving a Ranging Response (RNG-RSP) message in reply from the CMTS. The cable modem is therefore resetting its cable interface and restarting the registration process. This typically is caused by noise on the upstream that causes the loss of MAC-layer messages. Noise could also raise the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) on the upstream to a point where the cable modem’s power level is insufficient to transmit any messages. If the cable modem cannot raise its upstream transmit power level to a level that allows successful communication within the maximum timeout period, it resets its cable interface and restarts the registration process. This error message is DOCSIS event message is R03.0, Ranging Request. T4 ( Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received ) Explanation: The cable modem did not received a station maintenance opportunity in which to transmit a Ranging Request (RNG-REQ) message within the T4 timeout period (30 to 35 seconds). The cable modem is resetting its cable interface and restarting the registration process. Typically, this indicates an occasional, temporary loss of service, but if the problem persists, check for possible service outages or maintenance activity on this particular headend system. Hello, Our internet is dodgy at best. If we have 4 home devices on it, one or multiple start to lag tremendously. Also, the modem goes through spurts where it just resets itself over and over again. I erased all of our MAC Addresses, but I posted the log below. With my educational and professional background, it looks like the signal is not coming from Cox like it should. The signal is being lost somewhere. Any thought on what to do or look for? And, no, there are no splitters. There is a cable from the wall to the modem. We have 2 ethernet cables coming from the back of the modem going to 2 computers. Everything else is on WIFI. Hello Customer Support, I am located in Orange County and I have my DPC3825 configured for B/G/N Mixed mode. While sitting next to the wireless router, I can only get 54MBPS on my laptop. I know that when I am at work or others' houses, it indicates I am connected at 130MBPS. Can you advise what is the best configuration details to get back to at least 130MBPS? My current settings are: B/G/N Mixed mode. 2.4GHz Band. Auto Channel. Everything else is default. *** Lastly, my wife's VPN continuously drops out every 5 minutes connected through this router. I recently upgraded to Cox Ultimate 200Mbps for my market and my modemwas only showing 4 channels bonded. I called tier 2 and they were able to push a firmware update that brought modem up to 8 bonded channels, but according to tier 2 Ultimate 200 should be receiving 16 Channels Bonded. So I'm only getting around 165 Mbps down 20 Up when I should be getting 200 Down 30Up. I saw Colleen D was able to force all the channels to bond and would love assistance on this. I understand that Ultimate is up to 300Mbps but my market only supports 200Mbps. I'm a Cox employee for a third party but don't know who to really reach out to. Hello , I've been getting random lag spikes for some quite time when I play on xbox and pc. Recently I upgraded my service to gigablast. But it still does it , I've been doing speed test when theres no issues and when I get spikes. I get around 560mb download & 3mb upload on a good moment. 190mb - 300mb & 0.5mb upload when I get spiked.Also my router just loses internet at random times . I have a couple people connected on my router but they mostly watch videos or go on social media. Just mostly affects me whenever I play games.
