How do I access my built-in TV apps like Hulu?
Ijust got Cox Contour and so far we like it, but it doesn’t seem to include Hulu, which was one if the built-in apps from our LG smart TV.So now I’m trying to figure out how to access the built-in TV apps, and more specifically the Hulu app, since Contour already hasNetflix and Amazon Prime. Is there a way to access the built-in TV apps?21KViews0likes2CommentsContour box rebooting and freezing constantly.
My TV was working great for quite some time and then last week around the 18th my box would start freezing, then the satellite boxes started freezing and then showing an error message and then rebooting the whole system whenever it wants. I have had three techs out. 2 times new boxes were put on, one guy even checked my voltage and said that might be the problem. I have tried other outlets and my other things plugged into the same outlet do not do the same thing. (Modem, phone etc). So I have no idea what to do about this. I am about ready to give up and turn in my boxes. The headache and the price is just not worth it. I even tried plugging my box into a different outlet and it still did the same rebooting dance. I have no idea what is wrong and these techs they send out just put in new boxes, poke around a few places and leave without it working at all!!!!!! Anyone else have this issue? Please tell me I am not alone.14KViews1like8CommentsContour Voice commands not working
This post appeared 2 years ago: ~~~~~~~~~ Hi there, Any tips or troubleshooting to get my Contour remote control's voice feature to work again? All other remote features are working okay. I also checked the remote itself and it looks fine, plus its fairly new (I got the service less than 2 moths ago). I went to the remote features and the voice option is "on", replaced the batteries to no avail, also searched the web for tips but no luck either - any input its greatly appreciated. P.s. I have two such remotes, the other one is working just fine. TVFan35 ~~~~~~~~~~ I could have written this because the details are exactly as were my own. The only thing not mentioned here that applied to me was that the voice command tone sounded strange when I pushed the voice command button. It was more of a burst of static than a tone. After unpairing and repairing the remote, restoring factory settings, checking that the voice command feature was turned on in the receiver settings, I noticed that my battery life was very low. There was enough juice left for basic functionality (about 10%) but it occurred to me that perhaps there wsan't enough juice to activate the mic and/or the voice recognition algorithm. Sure enough - I swapped out the nearly dead batteries with fresh ones that registered 100% life and all was well again. The voice recognition tone returned, as did the functionality. Hope that helps someone else -bp13KViews0likes2CommentsConstantly have to reboot DVR
I just signed up with Cox and I've had nothing but problems with my DVR. I've had it replaced once. At first my DVR was wiping out all of my recordings. That has since been resolved with the replacement. I've been having the following problems lately: 1. Recordings being corrupt and not being able to watch them 2. Recording a currently airing show, click the record button, click confirm but it doesnt actually record the show 3. Cancelling series but it continues to record them 4. different rooms show different recordings 5. The most frustrating is sports shows. A football game that is airing for 3.5 hours on the guide records for up to 5 hours which causes conflicts with other recordings Cox's only response is to reboot the DVR. So to use Cox cable I have to reboot the DVR twice a day?11KViews0likes4CommentsNBCSN has had choppy/jerky video for about three weeks on myTV.
Technician was out last week and replaced my cable box but that did not fix it. Hockey and racing was the worse I guess due to the speed of the camera action. Hockey and racing on my other channels are just fine. It's just NBCSN10KViews0likes22CommentsHDMI on Contour box not compatible with HDMI on TV
My mother was forced to switch from the traditional Cox main cable box to Contour, and the Contour HDMI connection is apparently not compatible with the HDMI port on her first generation Sharp Aquos HD LCD TV (she just gets a blank screen), forcing her to use the much lower resolution coaxial connection. Other devices, such as a laptop, DVD player, and Blu-Ray player, work fine with that TV HDMI port, and both the picture and sound on the TV are gorgeous, and worked perfectly with the old cable box, so she's not about to replace the TV. According to the tech who came out to troubleshoot, the issue is apparently with the overly sensitive HDMI port on the Contour boxes. Is there another type of box with alternate connections (i.e. DVI, composite, etc.) that Cox can provide at no additional charge? She's already paying around $200 per month for TV, internet, and phone, and that's without having any movie channels or a DVR; and since it was Cox'schoice to force the box change, the problem is on their end.9.9KViews0likes3CommentsIs there a way to delete or block the YouTube app?
My kids have time limits on their electronic for YouTube. But they found the dang YouTube app on Contour. I want to delete or block it. How can I do that? If there isn't a way Cox needs to create a parental control for it ASAP.8.6KViews0likes1CommentRecording in the cloud vs DVR with hard drive
I am relatively new to Contour, and I am at my wits end. Cox set me up to record shows on their cloud server. When I try to watch a show recorded in the cloud, the playback is often interrupted by loss of picture, sound, or both, plus picture freezes. The frequency and severity of the problem varies, but at its worst, it renders the program unwatchable. During these periods, it is also impossible to use FAST FORWARD, as the picture freezes as the time line progresses, making it impossible to know when to stop FF. I have had three service calls, which have included replacing the coax in my house. The technician told me it was not at my end. Live TV does NOT have this problem, nor does ON DEMAND or streaming on Netflix.8.6KViews1like11Comments
