Intermittent Connect. Drops and Lag.
So I've been having some connection issues since early April whenever I started the Cox HSI service. The connection intermittently drops out. Sometimes the modem restarts (I'm on my third modem). I believe the upstream is having problems because it seems to only happen whil either playing xbox, which requires sending information back and forth constantly, or doing something of a similiar nature on any other device such as uploading videos or other information on my computer or phone. My connection is going through the Cisco DPQ-3212 into an ASUS RT-N56U. The problem persists even while connected directly to the modem, xbox and computer. I have had 6 Techs come out so far, the next one is coming out this Sunday. All but one of the Techs said that there is nothing that they could do in regards to the connection drop out and advised that a maintenance team would have to come out and replace the line, which has still yet to be done. Is this the problem? Should the line be replaced and all be fine? Or is there another issue outlined somewhere? I'll upload some modem specs later on. If any other information is needed just let me know. Also, I have searched and searched for answers on forums including dslreports and can not find any resolve.11KViews0likes4CommentsLinksys AE3000 on a SBG6580 Modem
I am having HUGE issues with my internet using my Linksys AE3000. My internalwireless adapter works on my laptop without any hangups or drops at all. My AE3000 when plugged in works for 5 minutes and freezes and has to be reset on both my desktop and laptop using newest drivers and old drives with doing fresh installs each time. I sent in 1 AE3000 to be replaced and the new one does the same thing. I even had it plugged into my laptopright next to the modem and still did it. Then when I unplugged it and turned on the laptops internal wireless the laptop worked fine. I have reformatted, released and refreshed my IP, direct connected cable modem to cable hardline with NO splitters, replaced AE3000 Unit, tested on twodifferent computers which did not work, Internal laptop adapter works fine,uninstalled/deleted drivers/registrys and reinstalled fresh copys.Linksys support was worthless. What's the replacement for the Cisco DPQ3212? It's been a terrible piece of equipment since install and I've been waiting for a replacement to be rolled out. It's also a 8x4 docsis 3.0 and a 32x8 or at least 24x8 should be available by now. The DPQ3212 does have the distinction of being terrible for for both voice emta and Cox slow spotty drop out internet service. I have had calls drop, garbled with or without a headset, and have even purchased a new phone that is DECT 6.0. The base is in close proximity to the router (just replaced it also) and modem. The phone base is about 3 feet from the router and 5 feet from the Cox modem with two other handsets in the house. On calls, I constantly get drops, garbling, and told I sound like I am underwater. I have had Cox out here numerous times with no luck finding problem. I purchased a better headset, but even when not using it, I still have some problems. This issue is intermittent. I have Cox Hub in my backyard, so I am close to it. This happens on long distant calls the most, as that is the calls I am usually on. The problem is the same as with the previous phone and previous router. In addition, there are times that the Caller ID does not work and just displays 'incoming call'. PLEASE HELP!4.4KViews0likes4CommentsCable Modem Drop - Phone and Internet
I have the cox supplied old SBV-5220. It seem to disconnect during high traffic/usage times. This problem became a real pain when my speed went from 5mbs to 15mbs. It would be great if cox would update this modem to DOCIS 3 before I terminate my service. The only interest to resolve this has been to charge me for a house call. I would suggest a low cost solution: Send me a new one UPS for self install and a return label for me to send the old one back. Feel free to do the right thing. Just lookup my account info via the associated cox email address and "GET -R- DONE". I look forward to swapping out my cable modem and keeping my services with Cox.4.3KViews0likes3CommentsConnection keeps dropping
For the last few days the internet at our house keeps cutting off. If we do nothing it will eventually reconnect however resetting the modem via unplugging it seems to cause the connection to refresh faster. We have tried directly wiring a computer to the modem but the connect drops anyway so we can rule out the router. When the connection drops all of the lights on the modem turn off except for the power light and then it will eventually go through same process it does when manually reset. Sometimes the lights for send/receive blink for a long while before going solid and connecting. What is causing this issue? It makes it difficult to get any work done with this kind of service interruption. Setup: Motorola SB5101 modem, Linksys RT31P2 broadband router (to run Vonage), and a Net Gear Nighthawk wireless router, in that order. I experience frequent drops on the wired line and the wireless line as well. Makes watching Netflix streaming a pain in the b***. Can I get rid of the Linksys router and run Vonage from the NetGear Nighthawk? Do I need to upgrade the Motorola modem? Looking for any suggestions, or where I might find modem log or other performance information that helps me understand why I have the frequent interruptions. Been going on for years. I've tested my upload speed consistently and it's always around +4 which is fine. But once I start streaming, I start dropping frames every so often. But with the upload speed I'm getting tested with, it shouldn't be dropping any frames. I'm not sure if my upload speed is fluctuating or something. I've tested on two different streaming programs (OBS/XSplit) and to two different streaming sites (Twitch/YouTube). But I still get dropped frames. So I know it's not the programs or the servers. It didn't start happening until 3 days ago. I had my bitrate at 5000 and it was fine, but once I started dropping frames I changed it back to 2500 then to 2000. But I'm still dropping some frames. I've also restarted my modem and router multiple times and reset it back to factory settings. But it hasn't helped at all.2KViews0likes1CommentInternet keeps dropping out, losing signal, Modem shows errors
I have had issues off and on since Feb 2015 with about 6-8 techs coming to my house, 2 different modems, and many other things checked/done by Cox to correct the issue. I continuously have issues with my modem dropping the internet or low levels which affects my router and it drops my wireless and wired connections. Most recently last night I received a broadband outage notification from my alarm company and when I check my modem logs there is a error around the exact time and as well in my router. I then receive a notification about 2 hours later that broadband was restore and similarly in my router logs it shows internet connection restored. They have checked all wiring from street box to modem and even ran a drop line from the street direct to the modem, Cox has tried a couple of their own modems and even replaced mine for free. The issues resolved after rebooting everything for a couple hours to a few days. For the Cox techs on here you will see in my account numerous records of me being told it is something on Cox end and also some saying they see nothing wrong because by the tie 2-3 days later when they send someone it is working. I've been having some issues with my internet dropping numerous times a day, the only solution being to reset my router which seems to re-sync the router with the modem and all is well again. I had a tech out recently and he replaced a few splitters, ran a new cable to the main drop for the building and said it all looked okay, however I'm still having some issues, and looking for any advice.
