Firmware for SB6141
I wanted to understand if I have the correct firmware for my modem. I have the SB6141, and according to the Motorola User guide it says following: Easily add the SB6141 to a deployed family of SB6120s and SB6121s, all three models utilize the same firmware image. This reduces qualification time for an Operator and eliminates configuration But the cox telephone person I spoke in tier 2 level support said they had entered my modem as a "6180". Infact they do not even have a SB6141 in their list of modems, but it is shown on the supported modems list. What firmware needs to be used on SB6141 for Cox Service in Gilbert, Arizona Current firmware (is this correct?) I have the DOCSYS 3.0 NetGear N450 CG3000Dv2 from Cox and was wondering how firmware upgrades are done, since it's a Cox modem and not one that I bought. With my previous self-bought modems & routers, I did my own firmware/software upgrades on them to keep on top of the latest security/bug fixes. But with the NetGear N450 from Cox, I'm not sure if I can do upgrades or if they're automagically pushed to the modem by Cox. The support pages on Cox are so idiot-proofed & simple, that there's almost no useful information for tech types who like to know this stuff and be hands-on with their hardware. How are upgrades handled? Does Cox push them automatically or do we have to request them from time to time? Also, NetGear offers their Genie software suite with their consumer modems. Is that recommended with the Cox version of their modems or not? Thank you.12KViews0likes3CommentsMotorola SBG6580 modem lacks upstream Channel Bonding and hangs on video play/page load.

On tech rep said he reviewed the version I have and noted there was a later revision that addressed upstream bonding problems. Another said COX does not provide firmware upgrades, in direct contradiction to Motorola, who says they legally can't upgrade firmware -- the ISP has to. The connection was 'flushed' and the account re-provisioned. Power cycled, all the usual suspects. The setup is straighforward. Cable to the router, no DTV splitters or signals, no other equipment attached to the router other than three client hardware via wireless IP. Despite significant speed increases in SpeedTest, the behavior of the system, particularly with pages that have, say, and instructional video, is worse. Pages hang. Load times vary. Videos don't play. Mail takes a long time to poll my servers. FTP is impossible unless I turn the firewall OFF, something I'm not keen to do. A ticket was made out, promises made and nothing has been done. The issue of getting the wireless router to work well with clients was solved by turning off IP Flood Detection in the Firewall section. I expect the Router to be the first line of defense, but it seems to only operate for FTP and other tools I need to do my job when the Firewall is off and there is no means for specifying a port to be opened for a service explicitly.11KViews0likes8Commentsmotorola mtr700 tuning adaptor firmware 4 updates outdated
I've been trying unsuccessfully for two weeks to get my tuning adapter firmware updated. A technician was supposed to come out and look at it, but he called before showing up and said that he doesn't have a clue and that their wasn't a lead tech in the area to help out. Because of this he wasn't going to bother showing up. He said he would get back to me when they figured it out. Guess what? I have yet to hear back from him. I also sent an email to technical support. They replied that they would forward the issue to the field specialists. It's been a week.......... From what I understand the firmware should get pushed out from the head end once the TA is hooked up. The people at Ceton (I'm using a ceton infinitv6 tuner card) agree with this and told me to contact Cox concerning the issue. Which I have done. The responses I get or lack there of is a bit concerning. Why is it that another company can tell me what the problem is, but Cox cannot? So, I'm stuck with an mtr700 that is running firmware version 1.33. I would like to have 1.36 or 1.37 so that the device will support 6 tuners. Anyone have any suggestions?9.8KViews0likes10CommentsFirmware update for a Netgear C3700 Cable Modem Router???

Why is it impossible to get cox to provide firmware updates to modems? The Arris SB8200 is listed as a GigaBlast modem. Many chats later and I had one tech tell me that it "would be very illegal for Cox to control the firmware on the MODEM". Obviously, that is not the case because the cable provider is responsible for controlling the firmware that is at the gateway. I don't even have the ability to do that as a consumer. So how do I get it updated>??5.5KViews0likes4Comments
