Is there something wrong with the Cisco Explorer 8642HDC Firmware
I recently had the trusty Scientific Altanta DVR replaced after a Service Call about being unable to view ON Demand movies. The new Cisco box worked ok for few days until we tried to view a recorded program. It stuttered and was generally unwatchable on the playback. That started to occur watching live TV too. Was this a bad disk? Another symptom was that viewing the guide shrank the live TV picture as expected, but when exiting from the Guide, the picture remained small in the upper right quadrant. Changing channels didn't reset. A complete reset by unplugging power was the only way to get it back. The continued playback stutter made me visit a store for an exchange. The second unit seemed OK, but suffered from the same stuuer playback. I left the stuttering program on what I thought might be bad disk, and subsequent recorded shows seemed fine. This morning I noticed the program playing through this box, was about 5 seconds delayed from the same program playing through a non-DVR box, where previously they had been in perfect sync. I clicked the guide, and the same shrunken picture state happened. I have been searching issues with the Cisco boxes and the stutter is mentioned a lot. Is the box subject to overheating - it is in a cabinet with glass doors. Can I get a Scientific Atlanta DVR Cable box. I am seriously considering a move to satellite36KViews0likes18CommentsOn a Roku, how do I stream Cox channels I pay for
I have Cox digital and a Roku. I have managed to get some of the Discovery and History channels to stream on my Roku..Not live tv.. Yet other channels will not stream. Such as Boomerang cartoon channel, CBS live, ABC live, etc., that I pay for, through Cox. How do I get these channels to link to my Roku through my Cox account without having to pay additional fees for the channel? Is there a way to stream ALL Cox channels on the Roku? Is there a Cox Contour app for Roku? Thanks in advance for any, useful, help.32KViews0likes4Commentsbad routing server causing high latency
Ok so i was wondering why i had always had the minimum of 50 ping to any server i tested never below 50 i didn't really think much f it till riot games creator of the game League Of Legends made a post of more centralized north american servers they left an ip to ping expecting to be in the 30~50 range of ping i pinged the server only to get results of 73 ping from my location i noticed people who live in Miami and other southern parts of Florida showing there tracerts of around 45-50 ping using isp's such as Comcast and centrylink keep in mind they are moving the servers from PortlandOregon to Chicago with me living in the panhandle ofFloridagoing from 90 avg ping to 73 isnt a big change for how big themileage fromPortlandtoChicagois anyways i was at a neighbors house who has centrylink i was testing his internet noticing i was getting around a average of 6 ping to a serverapproximately120 miles away and i tested at myhouse only to get thestandard 50 ms ping so after looking through tracertsi believe this serverdalsbprj01-ae1.0.rd.dl.cox.net is the problem with the routing witch is located inAtalanta i was wondering if there is anyway you guys can fix/ or meblockingroutingto this server and i pretty much am sure its this server because pinging servers more west such as inDallasi can getunder 50 ms ping when im not being routed threw this server. Btw i know cox is currently in a deal with riot games so you can use there pop's but this has nothing to do with other servers i have tested and got same results edit also this server:ashbbprj02-ae1.0.rd.as.cox.net17KViews0likes39CommentsFirmware Upgrades for WiFi modems?
I have the DOCSYS 3.0 NetGear N450 CG3000Dv2 from Cox and was wondering how firmware upgrades are done, since it's a Cox modem and not one that I bought. With my previous self-bought modems & routers, I did my own firmware/software upgrades on them to keep on top of the latest security/bug fixes. But with the NetGear N450 from Cox, I'm not sure if I can do upgrades or if they're automagically pushed to the modem by Cox. The support pages on Cox are so idiot-proofed & simple, that there's almost no useful information for tech types who like to know this stuff and be hands-on with their hardware. How are upgrades handled? Does Cox push them automatically or do we have to request them from time to time? Also, NetGear offers their Genie software suite with their consumer modems. Is that recommended with the Cox version of their modems or not? Thank you.12KViews0likes3Comments"Enter network password" windows repeatedly popping up on Outlook email
I've had 3 minimum long chats with tech support and they've changed passwords, fiddled around, but in a nutshell I am still plagued constantly by these "enter network password" pop up windows. All PWs are entered correctly. Send/receive test works fine, all email addresses send/receive okay --- and then they don't! I have a Dell PC, Windows 8.1, MS Office 2013, I use Outlook 2013 for email. (Don't use webmail, just my PC.) Tech support has been hopeless in resolving this and I am tearing my hair out. Impossible to work with these darned pop-ups. Some days worse than others but no real rhyme or reason. One tech tried to tell me it might be because my McAfee security setting was high (it's set on medium level). I said, "and that would explain 6 pop up windows in 20 seconds?" No answer. I'm beyond disappointed in Cox. Twice, the tech support sessions left things worse rather than better. Has anyone had and resolved this problem? Thanks for any advice.11KViews0likes6CommentsIntermittent Email send/receive failures with POP3 - Again, for weeks
I posted this a couple weeks ago, have received no responses, and discovered it was deleted. So I'm posting it again. Don't delete it again...please solve it. For the past few weeks now, I've been experiencing the infamous & intermittent email send/receive failures, like many other customers in these forums have reported. My system specs: Windows 10 Pro x64 MS Windows Defender active, no other security packages MS Outlook Cox Internet Preferred package with the Cox provided DOCSYS 3.0 NetGear N450 modem/router My issues: For several weeks, my various Cox email accounts have intermittent problems sending or receiving emails through Outlook 2007. When receiving emails, I'll get the Outlook pop-up error window stating: ------------------------------------------------------------------- "Task 'myemailaddress' - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92 or some other error code) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)." ------------------------------------------------------------------- This issue happens consistently, several times a day with all my Cox email accounts...then emails will suddenly work again...then the issue reappears, rinse & repeat...it's an ongoing cycle of working/not working throughout the day for the past few weeks now. I don't bother calling Support about this because they usually blame Outlook and do nothing. It's not an Outlook problem. Everything works great, when it works...then this sudden issue pops once or twice a year, as so many other customers have been reporting. And as mentioned by other customers, Cox somewhat acknowledges that they know about this problem with email and it's been kicked upstairs for a harder look. In the past, I've reset my Outlook settings for the Cox emails, tried different settings and ports according to the Cox email support docs, and even deleted my Cox email account profiles within Outlook and recreated them (in case they were corrupted). Nothing has worked. This happens regularly, so please Cox...don't ask the usual questions about using Webmail, trying another computer, etc. We know, and you know, this has been a persistent, recurring issue with Cox email accounts for many years and these suggestions don't work or fix anything. Usually, Cox Support hems & haws and says they're working on it...or they wrongly blame Outlook...and nothing gets resolved. After repeated complaints to report the issue, they'll usually reset or do something to solve the issue. So I'm adding my issue & complaint here to be resolved also. Please fix this email issues ASAP. Thank you.8.8KViews0likes17CommentsSuggestions for down internet at same time every night?
Hi, I’ve had problems with my internet (50 mbps) either going out or becoming slow intermittently for awhile now and can often solve the problem with a modem refresh. For the last five nights my internet has gone down between 6-8pm and does not come up until the following morning around 8 or 9 am. After multiple attempts to get through to customer service with long wait times I was able to speak with someone over chat last night and after troubleshooting for an hour and a half was told they could not fix the problem but could see I had a problem. The only offer was to send a tech out for $75 that would stand outside of my door and tell me what to do to see if that would fix the issue. I have been down this road before and 1. I’m not paying for a service that should be provided as part of their contract for the exorbitant fees I’m paying for month in addition to the equipment I am renting from them and 2. My internet works fine during the day. This has been an ongoing issue for 5 days in a row now and is once again happening tonight and is extremely frustrating. Is cox turning off internet access at night? Is anyone else having this issue? Or can anyone recommend something that may help. I have manually unplugged and rebooted my modem. Unscrewed the cable, let it reboot. Powered down all of my devices and repeated the same process. It will not let me do a modem reset on the website now. It says it is unable to. It’s upsetting that cox is trying to make money on service calls for issues like this when they should be the ones offering a credit for the now 60 hours of time I have not been able to use my internet, but that is another issue of customer service. I would just like to find a solution to this issue.8.7KViews1like3CommentsCrazy/Spike/Low Upload/download speed.
For the passed 4 year's my family has suffered from crazy spikes, packet loss, and slow internet provided by cox internet. I have the 30DL/5UL plan, with reg/ cable TV. Issue with it is every few months I get huge packet loss, random disconnects, and slow speeds. this period last for a month or so of consistent calling of Tech support from Cox. Every time I call the support, I get the turn around. It's this, Its that, or try this or try that. I HAVE DONE IT ALL. I do all of it before I call and waste my time. With that being said, I will only go over this event for the sake of dignity to the cox support. 2 weeks ago, I started getting bad packet loss and Jitters. I ran my speeds on cox speed checker, Pingtest . net and speedtest . net. It is clear I was having issues since I was getting web hang ups and everything. I call tech support for them to only send out 2 techs. These techs plugged in their unit and that was it. Said they didnt see anything that is causing it. So few days after they left it stopped. Till about 2 days ago. I started noticing my uploading speed was spiking so bad. I tested it and dub checked it and it was coming back with solid download speed, but the upload was less than half '1.5Mbs' of what I am suppose to get '5Mbs'. I call cox about the issue, and all I get is the reach around. Sent to a Tech 2 support guy to tell me the same thing "cant find anything wrong" "Try this Try that.. Still nothing. Still getting ** upload. here is a set of upload/download speeds done directly on cox internet speed.. Now keep in mind when you see them, I pay for 5Mbs upload speed. The Download speed is actually higher than what i typically get. http://tinypic.com/r/2dvpqon/5 I have a tech coming out again tomorrow.. So lets see where this leads. Question is, Does anyone els have this issue?8.4KViews0likes7Comments
