McAfee Security Suite
The latest update to the Cox McAfee Security Suite has seemed to cause a lot of problems with internet browsing, uploads, and downloads. After the update was installed, simple internet browsing became extremely slow (if the website would even load at all) and I was unable to download anything, even small and simple files like Mozilla Firefox. The download would start but freeze up quickly thereafter and never complete (I even left it overnight, it didn't budge from where I had left it the night before). I have now completely uninstalled Cox McAfee Security Suite and everything has returned to normal, performance-wise, with the obvious exception of a running anti-virus program. Is it possible to re-install Cox Security Suite and revert it back to the previous version?12KViews0likes4CommentsMcAfee MSC install seats
McAfee Security complaint 2014-01-10 I have a wasted McAfee installation seat assigned to "PC". My system disk crashed and I had to reload a new one. There was no chance to remove the installed McAfee subscription prior to the crash. The Support person told me I could not recover the seat. Is that true? If so, there should be a way to do that.3.3KViews0likes1CommentDid McAfee monkey with TCPIP or Client settings?
Had trouble with McAfee a few days ago. I finally downloaded McAfee Virtual Technician, which found: Expected File not Present c:\program files\mcafee\virusscan\mcvsoutil.dll I did an on-line Chat with Dileesh Das. Then phone call with Zack in Louisiana to remove completely then re-install the new McAfee to fix it. It was OK or so I thought. Worked OK all day. Then re-boot (over night) and presto, NO INTERNET ! Since then, I found that either the NIC is zapped or McAfee changed some SETTINGS like under Control Panel, Network Connections, Local Area Connections, Properties. Maybe TCPIP, or Client for MS Networks. I called Cox, and was on hold a long time. An hour later I got hung up. Called back. I'm still on hold. So has this happened to anyone else?3.2KViews0likes6CommentsCox Security Suite Plus
McAfee is active on a newly purchased laptop for a trial period to expire; my question is it best to uninstall this existing promo McAfee subscription prior to downloading the subscription of Cox Security Suite Plus from Internet Tools in My Account on Cox.net? If I do not remove an existing active McAfee subscription, will Cox Security Suite Plus (which I believe is also McAfee) cleanly install over the promo subscription.2.7KViews0likes1CommentSecurity Suite update not branded. No graphic logo was installed for the app Home page. No McAfee, No Cox Security Suite! ?? looks generic/un realiable
My security Suite was updated to the new version of Mcafee. However, there is no App identification or branding inside the app. On the Home page? This looks pretty unprofessional and cheesy for an Anti Virus we are supposed to be counting on for all our PRIVATE, Sensitive personal informration. I want something that can at least look professional2.6KViews0likes7CommentsThunderbird Mail and McAfee
I recently installed the McAfee internet protection package offered by Cox. Since then, when sending e-mail I often get an error message the first time. Then I try again and the message is sent. I checked Mozilla and found this information. Thunderbird All versions and McAfee High CPU usage, a message 'Sending of message failed. Unable to open the temporary file C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Temp\nsmail.tmp. Check your 'Temporary Directory' setting.' and in extreme cases Thunderbird crashes McAfee have been aware of the issue since early 2013. Issues should be raised with McAfee so that they can fix their product. Is Cox doing anything to influence a fix with McAfee?2.5KViews0likes1CommentMcAfee and RootKit
A recent virus scan hung up while scanning "rootkit". I searched for a file called "rootkit" on my system and found none. I ran the scan again and it completed OK with no viruses detected, but I noticed that scanning "rootkit" was displayed a number of times during the scan. Following the advice in the forum I downloaded and ran Microsoft Safety Scanner which said no infected files were found. I also downloaded and ran McAfee's rootkitremover which again said no Trojan viruses were found. I've also run Safety Scanner on the other computer that I have on my home network and again it was clean. My virus scanner version is 16.8. Do I have a problem?2.2KViews0likes2Comments
