Cox Not Allowing 3rd Modem to Connect?
Hello, I recently just started with Cox and for some reason my modem has not been able to connect to their service. At first I was using a Netgear CM700 that would signal having the upstream and downstream just fine but would be denied connection to the internet. A tech came out and we figured maybe something went wrong with my modem since the Cox Panoramic Gateway worked just fine. He recommended getting an Arris, so I did. I got the Arris SB6190, fresh from the box and the same exact issue occurred again. I have talked with support and they said everything is activated and it should be working, yet when I go onto my account it still lists the Panoramic Gateway as my modem device and I cannot add another modem to my account. There is another tech coming to try to figure it out, but largely I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem with Cox or is this some new scummy practice by them to force people into renting their modems? Does anyone have any advice in getting the modem to work? I've tried power cycle, switching coax cables, etc. Nothing has worked as again all I get are two solid blue lights for the upstream and downstream and a solid white light for the internet.Solved2.1KViews0likes58CommentsModem automatically reboots
So I have the CGM4331COM Revision 2.2 and my modem has been automatically rebooting at least 2-3 times a day. I’ve had COX come out to the house yesterday July 9th 2023 and they couldn’t find an issue with my service. I’m not sure how to check my single levels or why this is happening. Does anyone have any insight or can tell me why this is happening? My tech did mention that COX pushes software updates that seem to always break things but this is extremely frustrating especially when playing online games or watching shows. Thanks for the help.587Views0likes11CommentsAdmin no Longer Able to Make Changes Due to MyWifi
I recently setup MyWifi as I thought it was interesting and thought I would check it out. However now that I have signed up for it the local admin portal does very little as it is being "automatically managed by cox". The changes that could be done on the app/MyWIFI seem really limited. How do I get back to being able to use my local admin to change my configuration? So far I have hard reset the router and looked through most, if not all settings / webpages to unlink the myWIFI. I also looked through this forum to see if this has already been asked, but no luck. I'm hoping there is a simple solution I am missing but if not I'll try my luck with customer service.476Views0likes1CommentSporadic modem drops
I have been experiencing short term (~30 second) disconnects with my modem (Arris SB8200), and have been unable to track down the exact issue. An example of the disconnects can be seen through ping plotter:https://imgur.com/a/QgiFiVi I am also getting a large amount of Dynamic range window violations when looking at my modem event log:https://imgur.com/a/R2bVNrU I'm unsure if it could be related to the downstream and upstream powerlevels, as I haven't found any concrete cases that would show this is the problem (the power level dump is in the attached pastebin):SB8200 power level status I have seen this issue occur across multiple PC's, multiple CAT cables (CAT5e and CAT8) and multiple modems (This issue was evident with the provided panaromic modem/router). I have also tested by directly connecting to the modem, and by connecting via router (Netgear r6700v3). If I am connected via router, I see ~30% packet loss between the router and modem. Now, for the strangest part imo, is that if I am using a VoIP program (i.e Discord) while this occurs, I am able to receive all audio in the chat, but no one is able to hear me. I am not able to do much in terms of working with the RG6 coming into my home, as I live in a second floor condo and can't find where the cable is actually coming into my house (checked all rooms as well as the attic), so I'm unsure of the actual configuration of splitters throughout the building. I would love to hear any input as to what might be the issue, or if any steps could be taken to troubleshoot further1.4KViews0likes4CommentsPanoramic Modem Bridge Mode Intermittent
Panoramic modem is in bridge mode, most of time wifi band lights are off, but are currently blinking after requiring a reset after internet dropped. Happens multiple times per day, have a linksys router conncected WRT1900ACS, modem will stop giving internet to router and requires a reset.986Views0likes1CommentAris SB8200 unable to connect to internet even when all lights are solid and correct MAC and serial number in the Cox system.
I am a new customer and I am trying to use an Aria SB8200 that I had previously used with Xfinity. I factory reset the modem and it boots to completion showing all solid lights, but I am still unable to connect to the internet. I am able to reset my router through the Cox web service. Was on the phone with Tech Support all evening and they weren't able to make it work on their end. Is it the cable modem? It was working perfectly with Xfinity and it is on the list of modems that Cox says will work.532Views0likes0CommentsCan't forward ports
This is **. Just a couple months ago this was not a problem. I moved and my modem did a firmware upgrade. Now the port forwarding menu is just gone and replaced with a WiFi.Cox.com link. Except, when I click that link, it tells me to upgrade. When I click THAT, it tells me I am ineligible to upgrade.I contacted cox and they told me that the only upgrade I have left to buy is the cox complete care plan, which as far as I can tell is just tech support for people who don't know what they're doing. I'm a sys admin. I don't need help, i just need this feature.689Views0likes0CommentsNetgear CM-1000 Reboots at Same Time Every Night / Suspect Recent Firmware Update.
A week ago, I and at least two other Cox subscribers with Netgear CM-1000 modems began experiencing NIGHTLY modem resets -- multiple times per night, all at exactly the same time. Two of us are in San Diego, one in AZ. But the real issues appears to be the model of modem AND a recent (I suspect within the last 6-7 days) problematic firmware update. I have a hardcopy modem status page printed on 8/5/19 indicating firmware rev v3.01.04. CURRENT firmware rev is v5.01.04. WHEN was this revision pushed out?3.5KViews0likes1CommentBuying my own Modem (panaroma user)
I am looking to buy my own modem and router combo for the Gig speeds for Cox due to the issues I am having streaming on twitch. For some reason I am not getting the speeds when streaming, but getting the speeds doing everything else. I did a little research and found there is a certain software the panaromic modems use that interfere with the connection with Twitch. I am looking to purchase theCM600 is a DOCSIS 3.0from Netgear and was just wondering if anyone has purchased this one. Also, is it compatible with Cox here in Oklahoma. If anyone has any information, please let me know. 980 mbps down 50 mbps up is what I am getting right now and I cannot stream with Twitch. -Sean798Views0likes1CommentIntermittent disconnects with modem logs (
