Firmware Upgrades for WiFi modems?
I have the DOCSYS 3.0 NetGear N450 CG3000Dv2 from Cox and was wondering how firmware upgrades are done, since it's a Cox modem and not one that I bought. With my previous self-bought modems & routers, I did my own firmware/software upgrades on them to keep on top of the latest security/bug fixes. But with the NetGear N450 from Cox, I'm not sure if I can do upgrades or if they're automagically pushed to the modem by Cox. The support pages on Cox are so idiot-proofed & simple, that there's almost no useful information for tech types who like to know this stuff and be hands-on with their hardware. How are upgrades handled? Does Cox push them automatically or do we have to request them from time to time? Also, NetGear offers their Genie software suite with their consumer modems. Is that recommended with the Cox version of their modems or not? Thank you.12KViews0likes3CommentsExperiencing Lag during online gaming
Hi, I'm experiencing lag and stutter during online gaming. I've Cox Preferred plan and play game over wireless connection. I've tried restarting and rebooting modem several times but the issue still remains. I also tried playing game using the LAN connection but the issue persists. I've contacted customer support twice but they have only helped me by restarting the connection again and again. For debugging purposes, I ran Speedtests (www.speedtest.net) and Pingtests (www.pingtest.net), and i figured out speed fluctuations, at times I get 63.2 Mbps and other time I get 12.2 Mbps. Also, I get 9ms, 12ms and other time 223ms and 300+ pings. These figures are from tests that I ran back to back when I started facing issues during gameplay. Please look into this issue. I've Netgear C3700DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem router and I'm using 2.4 GHz connection for wireless connection. Thanks, Gaurav K.7.9KViews0likes12CommentsWhy doesn't Cox support 16x4 DOCSIS 3.0 modems?
It is strange to me that the MSO competition (although not in this market) has significantly faster HSI options than Cox, and currently support the newer 16x4 DOCSIS 3.0 modems. If Cox was serious about this whole "Gigablast" rollout by the end of 2016, then one would assume that this would be something of a priority for them. As a long time customer of Cox, I was disappointed to hear that the Netgear CM500 modem (16x4) was not on the approved list, but the Netgear CM400 (8x4) is. I planned to fork over whatever it cost to retrofit for this gigabit internet option, but after seeing that I would need to spend even more money in a year to probably not get a fraction of the advertised speed was disheartening. I wish we had TWC or Comcast as options here in the valley as I would change providers right now. This may sound like a rant and quite possibly is, but the only difference in hardware between the two modems is the amount of downstream channels they have. This is ultimately irrelevant since the ISP determines your internet speeds. The most frustrating part is that the approved modem which can handle half the speed of the non-approved one; is only $20 less than the better one. Thank you Cox for still finding a way to cost me more money....I hope Google Fiber or CenturyLink rollout before Cox does, because that is where my money will go.5.8KViews0likes3CommentsNetgear R6300 V2 firmware update?
How do we update the firmware on our Cox-supplied router? My Netgear R6300V2 is showing firmware ofV1.0.3.48_10.0.85COX. If I go to Netgear's website there is much newer firmware available. However, it won't update since Cox has it locked down... Is there a newer Cox-approved firmware?5.5KViews0likes5CommentsQOS for Netgear CG3000D Make and Model: DN3000D ?

This modem/router has been giving me problems since it was installed a couple of months ago. I believe it was a used router. Is there anybody else out there having issues or had issues with this device? My Wi-Fi drops all the time and I have to reset it. My PC is the one most affected by it. This device model is from 2009, to me it seems a little old, and there are no Firmware updates on the Netgear site or this site. By the way, I'm leasing the router from Cox.4.5KViews0likes11CommentsCertified Cable Modems
I am researching DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems that utilize eMTA (telephony) so I do not have to have a separate device for my Cox Telephone Service. Aside from the Cisco DPQ3212 cable modem, which is Cox certified, I am wondering if there are additional cable modems that Cox will allow to be used, or if other Cox customers are currently using for their Internet/Voice services at home. I have found the following other modems that are not on the Cox "certified cable modem" list, but are DOCSIS 3.0 and do provide eMTA / telephony function that may be used for the Cox Voice Service: Netgear C7100V Arris TG1672G (listed as a "Gateway." What's the difference between a cable modem and a gateway? The data is digital anyway, right? No need to demodulate it to an analog signal anymore). Can anyone confirm if there are additional cable modems or gateways that are not "officially" on the Cox Certified Cable Modem list but are using them without issues? Is anyone using the above modems in their home?4.5KViews0likes5CommentsNetgear CM-1000 Reboots at Same Time Every Night / Suspect Recent Firmware Update.
A week ago, I and at least two other Cox subscribers with Netgear CM-1000 modems began experiencing NIGHTLY modem resets -- multiple times per night, all at exactly the same time. Two of us are in San Diego, one in AZ. But the real issues appears to be the model of modem AND a recent (I suspect within the last 6-7 days) problematic firmware update. I have a hardcopy modem status page printed on 8/5/19 indicating firmware rev v3.01.04. CURRENT firmware rev is v5.01.04. WHEN was this revision pushed out?3.4KViews0likes1CommentWhat is wrong with my WiFi Modem?
I've been a customer for a little over a month and a half and since I became a customer I've had so many problems with my internet. The technician that came in and installed it made a fresh new line. I have no splitters going from my wall to my modem. I have the premier speeds (60 down i believe) and I cant even get online to play a single game on Xbox Live without my internet crashing. its been like this for the last 2-3 days. Today I had a tech come by and he added something the the cable port on the modem, checked my speeds and noticed i have a different software version on mine then he had ever seen. Anyways, here is a video demonstration of what happens. I cant even play a full game of CoD Ghosts without dropping my connectionhttp://youtu.be/s-Fnm5Vk4F02.8KViews0likes1Comment
