Record without a TV subscription?
I have Cox Premier High Speed Internet. I do not have a TV subscription of any kind. I don't have and don't want premium content. The internet coax carries signals that I can watch on my TV without a cable box. Some are wide screen digital. I no longer have a TV Guide because Sony dropped the subscription to TV Guide for TVs manufactured before 2013 but I can label the channels, which is good enough for me. I'm considering getting a third-party ATSC tuner and using Plex to record scheduled broadcast shows for later viewing. Is that possible without a TV subscription? Specifically I want to record the 6 PM news (yes, it's old school) to watch later in the evening and skip commercials. Hi all. I just setup my Plex Media Server and it's asking me to configure port forwarding. I've tried everything I could think of, including using the triggered and forwarding options in the routers config as well as assigning my Media Server PC an assigned internal IP address and nothing seems to work. I've enabled uPnP support (which is the protocol that Plex uses, and I see it showing up as an active device but it doesn't connect) UPnP Portmap Table Active Protocol Int. Port Ext. Port IP Address Yes TCP 32400 7281 127.0.0.1 Additionally, whenever I check my Event logs I get this message coming up. Can someone explain why this is showing up? I have an HD Homerun Prime device I use with a Cox cable card. I have used this setup for around 3 years now with no issues. The past couple of weeks all of my non local channels are not loading on the hdhomerun app. They say HDCP required to display. This has never been the case before. I use to be able to watch ESPN, TBS, etc without any issues. Now I can't even view these channels. I also use this with plex live/dvr and the channels will no longer load there either. Only my local channels. This is horrible. Is there anything I can do? A couple of months ago when I would call in Cox there was an automatic message asking if I was calling due to needing to update my cable card. I wonder if it has anything to do with that? I don't want a list of blocked ports or directions for port forwarding. I had no problems with xfinity but cox is blocking every port number I have manually put in for my plex server to be accessible to me via the internet when I am not home. Can cox look up or even dedicate a port for such things as peoples private media servers. this should not be an issue for so many people out there. just a port number that is confirmed to work for plex,on cox internet thats all I ask.......1.9KViews0likes1Comment
