Fluctuating Upload Speeds
Since about a month ago I've been having some terrible issues with my upload speed, here is what it's currently at right now: https://gyazo.com/8f25a6217a981c65a4cf9cfe61365105 My husband streams and has been unable to stay connected because the upload speed drops to literally zero and fluctuates up and down around 0MBs - 3MBs. I have called support, followed all of their instructions and had a technician out who replaced the old cable with a new one, no success. I contacted support via live chat, followed a number of their instructions, to no avail. Contacted live chat again only this time the tech was pushing to sell me faster speeds... I'm already on 150MBs Download 10MBs Upload (which doesn't work) and for some reason he thought upgrading would help and then he rudely ended the live chat session. I purchased a new modem, as I was told my existing modem may not be working correctly, not the case as the issue still persisted. I have removed my router and hardwired into my PC and checked the connection, it was still fluctuating badly. I hardwired into my husbands PC and checked the connection, it remained the same... fluctuating badly. With router connected, I checked connection on devices using WiFi, same issue. Here is whats happening during livestreaming: https://gyazo.com/ab18ea3ad62716424d105d87b8cf6bb2 It's impossible to stay connected. I explained this over and over again to every technician I spoke to, but it's as though they don't understand or like talking to a wall. they give the same instructions and after you're finished if the issue isn't fixed they tell you it's your equipment. How is it my equipment, if I have tested it all over and over again. The strange part of this is, this issue starts at around 12pm and continues on for the rest of the day/night, all morning from around 9am the connection is fine. I want some real help, not to be told to reset my modem or remove my router, I'm sick to death of hearing that. It isn't my modem or router that is the issue.13KViews0likes36CommentsSlow Upload Speeds; Trying to Stream on Twitch
So recently I have been trying to stream on Twitch.tv, and even thoughwe paying for the Ultimate Internet package, which includes 30mbps upload, I am only able to stream at 3500 bitrateand this still doesn't guarantee a good quality stream without dropped frames. I would also like to mention that even though we are paying for this service, I am getting an average of about 20-24mbps upload, with it very rarely reaching 30mbps. I called about this a week ago I had two techs come out so far. One came out Monday the 17th and another came out today at around noon. The first tech said everything should be fixed by Friday, but I have performed multiple speed tests since then and I have yet to see speeds remotely close to 30mbps aside from a couple trials. (see attached image) He also put in a ticket for someone from Cox's maintenance team to come and see if there were any issues on the line outside my house, and from what I have been told, everything has been resolved yet I am still experiencing less than expected upload speeds. I also have performed multiple Twitch Bandwidth tests toverify that there is an issue with my upload speed, and sure enough I get mediocre bandwidth results along with very low quality connections to servers that are close to me. (see attached image) Not sure what to do at this point because it seems like getting a tech out here for the third time would be nothing but a nuisance to them, since all they do is come here and tell me they can't do anything about it and that they will forward the issue. Hopefully someone on here can provide me with some help. Thanks11KViews0likes17CommentsCorrect firmware version for Cisco DPQ3212?
I've been having intermittent internet speed problems for the past month. After 3 visits by Cox technicians, I am still having the issue. The technicians have "improved" various things such as connectors, amplifiers, splitters, etc. About a month ago the technician told me that since I have both phone and internet, I could get a free cable modem from Cox. He gave me a CiscoDPQ3212 which worked fairly well for a while. However, we have continued to have slow speeds, with the upstream speeds sometimes approaching *zero* during weekdays. Very recently I noticed that myDPQ3212 was not bonding 4 upstream channels. It would sometimes do only 1, 2 or 3 channels upstream. I spoke with Cox Support today and we agreed that I should try a swap on theDPQ3212. I swapped modems and things do seem to be a bit better; however we are still experiencing some (less severe) slowdowns. The modem has (at least for today) bonded all 4 upstream channels. I think that is a good sign. Enough about my problems. Now to my questions. I noticed that my first DPQ3212 had newer firmware than the one I received today. The previousDPQ3212 had firmware version D3212-P15-5-v302r12901-110223a-COX(built on Feb 23 2011 16:13:10) but theDPQ3212 I received today has firmware versiond3200-P15-5-v302r125573-20131008a-COX (Oct 21 10:08:39 2013). Both modems report a hardware revision of 1.0. The only thing I can see that might be different is that the previousDPQ3212 reports itself as aDPQ3212C instead of justDPQ3212. But the Cmight have just been added by the newer firmware? Is the modem I received today running the correct firmware version? If not, how can I get this upgraded?6.7KViews0likes1CommentUnable to sustain full upload speeds
I am a Cox Internet Premier user in North San Diego County, CA. For the past month or so, my router/gateway (Netgear N450/CG300Dv2) has been dropping my connection at intervals varying from 8 to 24 hours, then reconnecting at near full download speeds, but often with reduced upload bandwidth. Logging into the router, the connection tab shows that I'm only connecting to one of four upload channels after the reset. I've done several tests with Cox technical support on the phone; I've even replaced my Netgear N450 (twice!) and yet the issue persists. I have an appointment scheduled for a technician visit next week, but I've had my lines checked and repaired at least three times over the past year and I'm getting frustrated with the lack of reliability in the wake of all I've done. This is my first forum post, so if there is any more information I need to provide please let me know. I'm hoping that I can get a resolution here.4KViews0likes8CommentsCable Modem Inability to Bond 4 Upstream Channels?
I have been battling an intermittent internet speed problem for the past month or so. I've had 3 visits from Cox technicians so far. As incremental changes are made by the Cox technicians and myself, the speeds are getting faster and more consistent (according to a 5-minute periodic test I've been running from TestMy.net). However, I am still stuck with the apparent inability to bond 4 upstream channels on my Cisco DPQ3212C cable modem. Below are my statistics (including my MAC address so you can identify me). Can you please tell me if there is anything that I can do from my end in order to get a better upstream connection? Thanks. I have to say the upload speeds I get are just horrible. Is there a way to boost them? I am on the premier plan, yet my upload speeds are only about 1.4mb (I am getting the advertised download speeds though). I can't seem to find an advertised upload speed for my tier, but for the ultimate tier I found it being advertised as 20mb upload speed, so I would assume that mine (being the next tier down) should be at least 10mb. Am I just getting ripped off on my upload speeds or is something else wrong? I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Edit: I did find a listing, and the advertised upload speed I should be getting is 10-13mb. Which I have never come close to getting.3.3KViews0likes7CommentsPremier Internet Running At 40 MBPS Rather Than 100 MBPS
Main question: Why am I getting less than half the internet speed I am paying for? 40 mbps when I'm paying for 100? Doesn't seem correct. So when I first had Cox installed, my usual internet speeds were coming in at a consistent 110 mbps or higher. It's been about 2 to 3 months since and I've just recently started experiencing issues. It started with being kicked off of servers while doing some online gaming. This made me curious so I did a few internet speed tests. They were coming back very inconsistent. They ranged all the way from 15 mbps - 50 mbps. The majority of the speed tests were coming around 40 mbps. I called Cox a few times and was told many different things. One Cox tech rep mentioned my modem had many errors rolling through and they weren't being corrected by the modem. He recommended me getting a new modem so I did so. Doesn't seem to have helped much. But I'm now getting a consistent 40 mbps. The fact that it's consistent makes me feel somewhat relieved but I still feel I should be getting more for what I pay for. I understand the speed I'm paying for isn't needed for most households but I like to be sure I have a consistent high speed for gaming, streaming, and downloading. And I'm not. What could be causing this?3.3KViews0likes2CommentsSlow Internet Speed/Increased latency after I exceed 2 Mbps upload.
I CTest my internet speed at around 20 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload with a 30 ms latency, but recently I have been having a problem with my internet connection if I do a sustained upload above 2 Mbps. I can upload a large file to FTP or Dropbox or any other format as as soon as I reach above 2 Mbps my download speed drops to anywhere from 1 to 2 Mbps and the upload drops to around 300 Kbps. The latency also jumps to around 300 to 500 ms. I have the Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 and the issue happens when I am connected directly to the modem or through a wireless router and with my PC and my laptop. I have swapped the cables, I have called technical support (no issues on their end), I have had the cable technicians out to my house (they found no problems with the line). I have not used all my bandwidth and technical support says that I am not being throttled. The cable guys says that everything looks fine using CTest with no load and that is all they can do because that is the standard test. They cannot load their test equipment and they have no method of escalating this issue to advanced support. They said if cTest shows no problem with no load, this is all they can do. I need a method of moving this issues up to advanced support because it seems to be an issue with the CIMS or some backroom equipment on the COX side. I don't do a lot of uploading, but when I do it is a pain to have my internet effectively crash over 2 Mbps. Help!? Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks.3.2KViews0likes1Commentspeeeds
