Slow Upload Speeds; Trying to Stream on Twitch
So recently I have been trying to stream on Twitch.tv, and even thoughwe paying for the Ultimate Internet package, which includes 30mbps upload, I am only able to stream at 3500 bitrateand this still doesn't guarantee a good quality stream without dropped frames. I would also like to mention that even though we are paying for this service, I am getting an average of about 20-24mbps upload, with it very rarely reaching 30mbps. I called about this a week ago I had two techs come out so far. One came out Monday the 17th and another came out today at around noon. The first tech said everything should be fixed by Friday, but I have performed multiple speed tests since then and I have yet to see speeds remotely close to 30mbps aside from a couple trials. (see attached image) He also put in a ticket for someone from Cox's maintenance team to come and see if there were any issues on the line outside my house, and from what I have been told, everything has been resolved yet I am still experiencing less than expected upload speeds. I also have performed multiple Twitch Bandwidth tests toverify that there is an issue with my upload speed, and sure enough I get mediocre bandwidth results along with very low quality connections to servers that are close to me. (see attached image) Not sure what to do at this point because it seems like getting a tech out here for the third time would be nothing but a nuisance to them, since all they do is come here and tell me they can't do anything about it and that they will forward the issue. Hopefully someone on here can provide me with some help. Thanks11KViews0likes17Commentsatrociously inconsistent upload speeds as well as connection to twitch.
Hey everyone, I've been a cox customer for 3 years now, and I am a affiliate twitch streamer who is just starting to grow my channel in hopes of doing this full time. Now up until about 4 months ago I was streaming to twitch using the premier package and had no problems, then we had a slew of problems in my apartment complex that effected multiple tenants have EXTREMELY low upload (like less than 1 mbps). During this time I tried many many solutions (including upgrading to the ultimate package) however since then, the speeds seem to have leveled out a bit (only on speedtest.net, still a little inconsistent on other tests) and NOW my streaming to twitch is horrendous, I can only dream of streaming at the quality I used to, something seems to be interfering with my connection to twitch and also my upload in general seems all over the place. I've tried BRAND NEW hardware, I've had multiple technicians come out here and tell me that YES there is something wrong but they can't figure it out, even a supervisor came out and told me the same thing this last Thursday. I have spoke with possibly hundreds of different reps and to no avail. I NEED SOME HELP WITH THIS, I am paying for a service from you guys for a reason and I can no longer use the reason I'm paying for this service any longer. The customer service from you guys have been atrocious, constantly giving me the run around, this has been almost 5 months now I've had this same exact problem with NO help, I've had technicians come out BACK to BACK and all tell me that I have a problem but they don't know what to do. now here is a post on reddit with multiple people who have the SAME exact issue as me https://www.reddit.com/r/Twitch/comments/4cmxau/cox_is_throttling_customers_who_stream_on_twitch/ here are some of my speedtests: http://testmy.net/db/cesKgYxOW http://beta.speedtest.net/result/6643836876 http://speedof.me/show.php?img=170921181400-3969.png Now I can upload a test directly from my xbox and my ps4 as well if you'd like and they will show uploads that fluctuate from 7-12. even speedtest seems to fluctuate from like 20-30, but like I said my upload is VERY inconsistent, I had a supervisor named walter that was here last thursday and he understood what twitch is (unlike everyone else I have spoken to) and he plugged directly into my line and said that my uploads were low and even he had no clue what to do. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM IT IS NOT SOMETHING ON MY END.10KViews0likes16CommentsUnstable upload speeds - need solution
I have had a tech out and he replaced the fittings on the coaxial cables, and they upload speeds were fine for 2 days. Then they start to become unstable again. Try streaming to twitch using obs and the last section i had 16384 frame drops andcant even stream smooth at 3000kbps My upload speed is supposed to be 30mbps, but it is very unstable , and the download speed is stable. Need solutions please without having to pay.10KViews0likes0CommentsCox throttling upload speed to twitch.tv
Im an affliated twitch streamer and its really hard for me to do my hobby/job, because of cox throttling my speeds. Already replaced the coaxial cable making sure there are no bends or damage. My upload speed is supposed to be 10mbps, but its very incosistent. The same problems keeps happening for the past 5 months. I drop frames streaming and the stream is never smooth, just as i was growing. I've already had a Tech out and they resolved the problem for 1 day. Not looking to have another tech out. A lot of other streamers have had problems with cox streaming on twitch. The only conclusion i have is Cox throttling my upload speed.9.2KViews0likes0CommentsIssues Streaming to Twitch
Hello, For the last year, I was able to stream flawlessly to twitch and high resolution and bitrate with 100down and 10up connection. The last month or so I've had nothing but terrible frame drops when streaming, even at low bitrates. Can anyone explain what would be causing this all of a sudden? Is my upload being throttled or something? I even updated to the ultimate package to get 150down and 20 up and still have awful and consistent frame drops. I'm not even receiving 100down (that's another issue I have with this "ultimate" package) and am at 16-20 up. I need to get this figured out. If adding the new package isn't fixing the issue, I don't want to pay for it. I've had multiple techs out and last time he replaced the line going from outside my house to the inside because he noticed it was dirty or something. He also said there was an issue with uploads when he hooked up to the pedestal and that a repair crew was needed. I was on vacation for a week so I never got to see if the issue was fixed. They called to confirm we were good and we explained we were out of town. They closed the incident and said to contact them if there were any other issues. I'm tired of going through the same routine with the customer service people. I've reset everything, hooked up directly to my modem, and done everything they've asked probably a dozen times. I feel like my ISP is shaping my upload to Twitch, even though I'm told Cox doesn't do that, but I'm tired of running in circles and have no other choice but to assume that. Any other suggestions? Do I need to have ANOTHER tech out to confirm (at the pedestal) that the upload is clean? Have a higher tier person look at my stuff? Whatever happened in the last few weeks is ruining my streaming and I don't want to have to look for another ISP. >:(7.2KViews0likes18CommentsAnother Twitch Stream thread.
I have been streaming to Twitch for the last several years with ZERO issues. Over the past two days i am not able to maintain a connection to Twitch servers at all. I have run multiple speed tests and spoken with multiple technicians who seem to have no idea on how to help me. I have tried resetting/restarting both my modem and my router about 347 times now and its doing absolutely nothing for my connection. Has anyone been able to come up with a REAL answer to this?6.7KViews0likes11CommentsUpload connections and streaming to twitch
Ever since the weekend of the superbowl I have been unable to properly stream gaming content to twitch. I am able to watch streams with no issues and browse sites during these stream issues. I have made contacts to both Twitch and Cox and was informed the issues was most likely on my ISP. Out of frustration I also tried streaming to youtube gaming and got the same issues. My computer is more than capable of handling streaming as I had done so months before the super bowl. Currently I am at a loss after contact support and speaking to level two support being told there is no issues when clearly there is. I have a tracert attached to show my results below. Please any ideas or help for this would be appreciated as this new found issue has become overly annoying. So I have been having lot's of issues streaming on twitch. I was ultimate internet user for about 3 years. I have been having issues streaming on twitch. I have had numerous techs come out and my signal levels are fine. I upgraded to gigablast thinking something might change and I'm still have the issues even after upgrading services and having more then 4 techs come to my house. It clearly looks like cox is throttling upload to twitch. I'm able to stream for about 3 to 7 min without issues then my bitrate up just drops. I reboot my modem and the issue goes away for a few mins. Download speeds are good no other connectivity issues. Modem has been swapped 3 times and I'm hard wired and have tried several different devices. It also looks like there's been several post regarding cox throttling and twitch on reddit and other sites. So what's the deal ? Why is it a issue for people with Cox internet to use twitch for gaming upload. I have to lower my bit rate to 2300 my friend has a different ISP and he has slower speeds then me and is able to do 5000 upload. Someone at Cox needs to look into this and fix this. It's not a issue on my end it's clearly something cox has going on. I even had a tech say it's possible we are throttling twitch I can't say if we are. He even saw the sudden upload spike drop and didn't have a answer and said that it wasn't a official cox test so he couldn't do anything about it but noticed the issue and said he wished he could fix it. This is unacceptable2.8KViews1like4CommentsInconsistent Upload Speeds Causing Excessive Dropped Frames When Streaming to Twitch.TV
I recently moved back to my home town and Cox is the only ISP in the area that offers decent speeds. I am currently getting 150Mbps/10Mbps speeds via various speed tests. Ever since I've been on this service, I have been plagued with issues broadcasting to Twitch.TV, something I do on the side for a hobby/petty cash. I have done all the troubleshooting a person can do and have talked to more representatives at Cox than anyone would care to! I am so relieved to hear I am not the only person experiencing this. I am a Senior Systems Engineer by trade, I deal with major ISPs and networks on a daily basis. I have even taken a router to test with that retails at over $5,000.00 to prove that it was not my hardware. I have replaced modems, tried different NICs, you name it, I've done it. This is most certainly, beyond any shadow of doubt, and issue with the ISP (Cox). Whether they are purposely "throttling" this traffic or they are just overselling their mediocre service, this needs to be addressed! I am growing rather irritated at the fact that no rep nor technician can pinpoint these issues or even explain them. I am quite certain there are very competent personnel working at Cox that should be able to pinpoint this. It is basic UDP traffic, not that complex. Any other insights, suggestions, rants, testimonies, gripes, wines, or any other constructive chat on this would be greatly appreciated!2.4KViews0likes3CommentsUpload speed unstable? Streaming, dropping frames
I've tested my upload speed consistently and it's always around +4 which is fine. But once I start streaming, I start dropping frames every so often. But with the upload speed I'm getting tested with, it shouldn't be dropping any frames. I'm not sure if my upload speed is fluctuating or something. I've tested on two different streaming programs (OBS/XSplit) and to two different streaming sites (Twitch/YouTube). But I still get dropped frames. So I know it's not the programs or the servers. It didn't start happening until 3 days ago. I had my bitrate at 5000 and it was fine, but once I started dropping frames I changed it back to 2500 then to 2000. But I'm still dropping some frames. I've also restarted my modem and router multiple times and reset it back to factory settings. But it hasn't helped at all.2KViews0likes1Comment
