VERY SLOW UPLOAD SPEEDS, download is fine.
I have been dealing with extremely slow upload speeds for a very long time, at least a year. Maybe two? I have gigablast. Download is consistently fine. Always around 900 mbps and above. Upload is sporadic. Very seldom I get the 35mbps. But its very short lasting. Maybe a couple hours, then it goes back down to well under 10mbps. Most of the time it stays under 5mbps. Just ran a speed test, its at 3mbps. Anyways, numerous tech visits. Most of them didn't find anything. Changed all cables from the pole outside, all the way into my house and up to my modem. Its a straight cable from the pole to modem, no splitters. Replaced my modem. Replaced all ethernet cords. Literally replaced EVERYTHING. Still having the same issues. One of the techs said I was getting slow speeds at the pole. Scheduled out a linemen to come check the lines down my street. Linemen said that he found something and that it should be repaired. My upload came up for a few days and stayed consistent, which never happened before, but now its back down again. Dealing with these issues for so long is very, very frustrating and the fact that I pay $160 a month for gigablast and the extra 500gb data and I don't even get a fraction of the speed I am paying for just tops it off. I don't know what else to do. I've just about given up. There's nothing else to replace. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Because I do not know what else to do. I've browsed many forums and other things on the internet and this seems to be an issues for many people, but i'm hoping someone has a miracle for me. And before anyone asks: YES, i'm directly connected to the modem WIRED and its on multiple devices. Yes I have rebooted it too many times to count.37KViews0likes20CommentsDownload speed fine. Poor/intermittent upload speed.
Hi, Recently I've been experiencing issues with my upload speed. The download speed is fine. Sometimes when I run the cox recommended speed test, I'll have around 8Mbps upload, and 30 seconds later I'll get 2-3Mbps upload. I'm currently on Preferred 150/10. Definitely seeing more 2-3Mbps upload test results than anything close to 10, sometimes I've even gotten 0 back. Done the whole basic troubleshooting with multiple support representatives and boy does that get old. Yes I know how to reset. Yes I know to bypass the router. No I haven't changed any set up on my end, but somehow I'm experiencing terrible upload speeds and intermittent drops. I have an sb6183 arris modem, wrt1900ac router, upstream and downstream status look okay to me, so I'm assuming something has to be the issue from the connection to my house to the cox node, or somewhere along the way. Half the cable is new to the modem. Was told I can't have a technician come out and take a look because I'm not renting a cox modem - really?! Really baffled on this one, and could use some help. Most recent speed test and modem status linked. speed test modem status Thanks!Solved20KViews0likes50CommentsSTILL Packet Loss For Over a year in games (Fortnite, Overwatch, Rocket League, etc)
My original thread about this was locked with no reason, and after multiple Cox technicians and calls I am still receiving extremely bad packet loss on the upload side only. Mainly to games that use Amazon AWS servers. Anybody from Cox or community members able to help me? Original thread - Hello, I have been a Cox Customer for 17 years and a few years ago I started having very bad packet loss issues. I have spent hundreds of hours trying to fix this issue but it still happens even years later. I am only receiving packet loss (upload), 0% download packet loss. I am receiving low ping (for the most part) (30-40ms) and high packet loss (10-120%) in games such as Fortnite, Overwatch, Rocket league and more. It is happening on my PC & PS4. I have tried pretty much every solution you can think of. (I am hardwired directly to the modem with Ethernet as well) This is a Cox issue as I used a TMobile hotspot and received 0% packet loss so it can't be anything on my end. At least I don't think so.19KViews0likes49CommentsFluctuating Upload Speeds
Since about a month ago I've been having some terrible issues with my upload speed, here is what it's currently at right now: https://gyazo.com/8f25a6217a981c65a4cf9cfe61365105 My husband streams and has been unable to stay connected because the upload speed drops to literally zero and fluctuates up and down around 0MBs - 3MBs. I have called support, followed all of their instructions and had a technician out who replaced the old cable with a new one, no success. I contacted support via live chat, followed a number of their instructions, to no avail. Contacted live chat again only this time the tech was pushing to sell me faster speeds... I'm already on 150MBs Download 10MBs Upload (which doesn't work) and for some reason he thought upgrading would help and then he rudely ended the live chat session. I purchased a new modem, as I was told my existing modem may not be working correctly, not the case as the issue still persisted. I have removed my router and hardwired into my PC and checked the connection, it was still fluctuating badly. I hardwired into my husbands PC and checked the connection, it remained the same... fluctuating badly. With router connected, I checked connection on devices using WiFi, same issue. Here is whats happening during livestreaming: https://gyazo.com/ab18ea3ad62716424d105d87b8cf6bb2 It's impossible to stay connected. I explained this over and over again to every technician I spoke to, but it's as though they don't understand or like talking to a wall. they give the same instructions and after you're finished if the issue isn't fixed they tell you it's your equipment. How is it my equipment, if I have tested it all over and over again. The strange part of this is, this issue starts at around 12pm and continues on for the rest of the day/night, all morning from around 9am the connection is fine. I want some real help, not to be told to reset my modem or remove my router, I'm sick to death of hearing that. It isn't my modem or router that is the issue.13KViews0likes36CommentsSlow Upload Speeds; Trying to Stream on Twitch
So recently I have been trying to stream on Twitch.tv, and even thoughwe paying for the Ultimate Internet package, which includes 30mbps upload, I am only able to stream at 3500 bitrateand this still doesn't guarantee a good quality stream without dropped frames. I would also like to mention that even though we are paying for this service, I am getting an average of about 20-24mbps upload, with it very rarely reaching 30mbps. I called about this a week ago I had two techs come out so far. One came out Monday the 17th and another came out today at around noon. The first tech said everything should be fixed by Friday, but I have performed multiple speed tests since then and I have yet to see speeds remotely close to 30mbps aside from a couple trials. (see attached image) He also put in a ticket for someone from Cox's maintenance team to come and see if there were any issues on the line outside my house, and from what I have been told, everything has been resolved yet I am still experiencing less than expected upload speeds. I also have performed multiple Twitch Bandwidth tests toverify that there is an issue with my upload speed, and sure enough I get mediocre bandwidth results along with very low quality connections to servers that are close to me. (see attached image) Not sure what to do at this point because it seems like getting a tech out here for the third time would be nothing but a nuisance to them, since all they do is come here and tell me they can't do anything about it and that they will forward the issue. Hopefully someone on here can provide me with some help. Thanks11KViews0likes17CommentsUnstable upload speeds - need solution
I have had a tech out and he replaced the fittings on the coaxial cables, and they upload speeds were fine for 2 days. Then they start to become unstable again. Try streaming to twitch using obs and the last section i had 16384 frame drops andcant even stream smooth at 3000kbps My upload speed is supposed to be 30mbps, but it is very unstable , and the download speed is stable. Need solutions please without having to pay.10KViews0likes0CommentsCox throttling upload speed to twitch.tv
Im an affliated twitch streamer and its really hard for me to do my hobby/job, because of cox throttling my speeds. Already replaced the coaxial cable making sure there are no bends or damage. My upload speed is supposed to be 10mbps, but its very incosistent. The same problems keeps happening for the past 5 months. I drop frames streaming and the stream is never smooth, just as i was growing. I've already had a Tech out and they resolved the problem for 1 day. Not looking to have another tech out. A lot of other streamers have had problems with cox streaming on twitch. The only conclusion i have is Cox throttling my upload speed.9.2KViews0likes0CommentsCox Panoramic Modem March 2020
If you don't want to read this paragraph at the bottom about me complaining about Cox, then just read this: " The Cox Panoramic wifi modem/router that you rent for 11$ a month does not work the way it is advertised, and you are much better off going with a separate modem and router that is meant for providing high speed internet service". This type of internet works for laptops, Netflix, and basic streaming services. But when it comes to playing online video games, forget it. Even if you use the ethernet, you only will get between 200-300Mbps download, and 2.9Mbps upload speed. These speeds still lag when you play online video games". I decided to upgrade my service to cox Gigablast as of 20March2020. With the world under quarantine, especially the entire state of California, I said okay I definitely cannot deal with the Lag on PS4 that I have been dealing anymore. So I went to the local cox store after setting up my new service online and picked up my device. The customer service representative said it wasn't necessary that I rent the device, as I could buy a separate modem and router from Best Buy or where-ever, but it would cost about $400 with a separate modem and router. I decided to try out the cox panoramic modem+router combo that they offer for 11$ a month. I go home, plug it in and it was a super easy set up using the app for it. I connect it to my PS4 and test the connection. This piece of garbage (which is supposed to put out up to 900+ mbps basically almost 1 Gbps) only put out 24.9 Mbps download and 2.4 Mbps upload. This is down right criminal at these speeds. But before I called my lawyer, I decided to call tech support, so that someone could come out and see if the signal needs to be adjusted at my apartments. They are supposed to come out tomorrow (March 23, 2020) and hopefully fix it. Just the fact that I have to go the extra mile, and MAYBE get the issue fixed is absolutely ridiculous. My apartments are literally ONLY able to get Cox service. Isn't this considered a MONOPOLYat this point, since there is no other competition available? I have always had so many issues with cox, and its sad that they can't provide the working class of the America a fast internet service, especially whatwe are paying them for. I will hopefully remember to make another post tomorrow afterPAYING a tech support member a FEE in order to get my SERVICE that I justPAID for to WORK like it is ALREADY SUPPOSED TO. If it doesn't, well maybe I need to start putting this money that I am paying for this BS service towards law school, so that I can sue them into bankruptcy. Either that or call my friend at the local new station and put this company in the spotlight. Oh and if you don't believe me, then why would they sell cox Panoramic Pods separately? I have my PS4 sitting right next to the wifi box and it doesn't do any better than 24.9mbps. if you plug it in via ethernet, the best that I got was just below 300mbps. This is a speed that still lags during a online video game like Call of Duty. If you don't want to read this paragraph above about me complaining about Cox, then just read this: " The Cox Panoramic wifi modem/router that you rent for 11$ a month does not work the way it is advertised, and you are much better off going with a separate modem and router that is meant for providing high speed internet service". These speeds still lag when you play online video games".3.8KViews1like4CommentsInternet upload speeds is unbearably slow a night time.
So I have been a Cox customer for over a year now and I haven't had any issues with this company ever in my life, but that all of the sudden changed pretty drastically over the past couple of months. We pay for 100mbps download and 10mbps upload. Usually we get these speeds if not better every single day. However, at night time, our download is dropping to around 20mbps which is actually fine with me, I have used much worse download speeds in the past and made it work just fine, but the upload, oh boy the upload, it drops to around 0.2-0.7. Yeah you read that right. This is an extreme issue for me because I do a ton of gaming, and most of that is done at night since I work and go to school during the days. The reason this affects gaming so drastically is because it introduces a ton of input lag making it seem like I have an incredibly high latency when I dont at all. My latency averages around 19ms but I will unable to play due to such a long response time. Almost every single night at around 10-10:30 pm the internet drops from its regular speeds down to the ones I listed. I have called at least 3-4 times regarding this issue, and the response is always the same. I had a tech who was supposed to come out the other day but I had to cancel due to the fear of being charged the 75 dollar service fee, which I am certain I would have been charged for because this problem only happens after 10 and he was supposed to come between 5-7. Honestly this problem is getting out of hand for me. Has anyone else ever had an issue like this with Cox before? I hadn't had any issues until after the whole net neutrality thing happened, and im not saying thats what this is, but it's sure funny to me.1.9KViews0likes4CommentsWhy can't Cox Fix My Internet
Ever since I moved into this house years ago, I have had intermittent connection issues. Multiple service reps have been out here to "diagnose" my connection, but no one can ever seem to pinpoint the cause of my connection. I have recently cut everything but internet (because we know Cox is a monopoly in this service), and I continue to have connection issues. It's only the UPLOAD I have issues with. I pay for: 100 Mbps DOWN, 10 Mbps UP. My last test I received: 86.33 Mbps DOWN, 0.00 UP, with a 44% packet loss (29 ms latency, which is acceptable). It has always beenan issue with my UPSTREAM connection. Multiple modems being used, no change. When performing this test, I always disconnect from the router and connect straight into the modem so we can ensure the router is not causing the issue. I have used Cox's provided routers with the same issue, but currently I am using a retail router. I am so tired of paying so much money to get so little back. I would just like to get a working internet connection Edit: I would like to mention this issue is sporadic. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I can run a test with a normal range then come back in 5 minutes and I get the above. 20 minutes later it may work againif I am lucky, but if it does, then I can expect it to go down within another 10-20 minutes. No consistency, which is what makes diagnosing my issue such a problem.1.7KViews0likes2Comments
