@nrs Personally I won't bother too much with the wifi, and just take as it is. My personal experience has been (with 802.11ac) the fastest I have seen is around 450 up and about 390 down. But most of the time I think I see around the same number that you are seeing. Also, my observation is that the giga speed is very taxing on the router, and I believe you can squeeze a bit more out of a router if you set it as an access point. I noticed that I do get faster speed when I set the router into an access point (you will need another router to do this, or buy an access point). I build my own router, and put router provided by Cox into an access point. But I think what you are seeing is rather okay.
