Yahoo App Password for Apple Mail

I can successfully send and receive from my first migrated account. Yahoo makes use of a one-time App password that is used in lieu of the usual email password. Does anyone know if this password is tied to a specific app? Mail on a laptop and desktop would use the same password. Or is it tied to a specific email? Bob@cox.net in Mail anywhere would use the same password. Or is it a combination of the two. Yahoo generates the pw and tells you you don't have to remember it. So you're generating a new password every time you update the accounts on a new device? I'm just wondering how much of a PITA this is going to be?
