Install Question - DirecTV to Cox

Question

I am contemplating moving from DirecTV to Cox.&nbsp; When I installed DirecTV, years ago, I ran new coax (stainless shielded) from the DirecTV switch in the attic to all television locations inside my house.&nbsp; The cable box where my Cox internet and phone enters the house is on the back, outside wall.&nbsp; If I change to Cox, will they allow me to run a coax line from their box, through the wall into the attic, and split into each television line at the point where the DirecTV switch is?&nbsp; I understand it may be my responsibility to run the line and make the attic connections.&nbsp; Anny assistance will be greatly appreciated.&nbsp; Thanks.

Yep.&nbsp; Understand that.&nbsp; Just looking for a convenient way to tie in all my coax.&nbsp; Would unhook the DTV switch and hook up the Cox splitter(s) in its place.&nbsp; Thanks.

DanT, No other provider's connections should be run through our demarcation point. If you are switching to Cox from another TV provider you'd need to have a professional installation in order to make sure everything is connected correctly and that existing cabling is sufficient to support your service.  -ColleenD., Cox Support Forums Moderator

I don't think my question is being understood.&nbsp; Currently, the DirecTV feed comes off their dish on the side of my house, through the exterior wall and into the attic.&nbsp; The DirecTV lines then connect to their switch, which in turn, feeds each television with standard coax cable that I installed.&nbsp; I installed it through the attic and walls to enter the interior of my house where my TVs are mounted (mostly wall mounts) to avoid cabling running up the wall inside the house.
What I am asking is:&nbsp; IF I switch to Cox, will the "professional installer" run a line from their "demarcation point" (box on the back wall of my house), or allow me to do so, either on the exterior of my house or through the exterior wall, into the attic and connect the lines to the individual televisions from the point where the DirecTV switch is currently (unhook the coax from the DirecTV switch and re-hook them using Cox coax line splitters).
I understand a "professional installer" will have to make sure everything is connected correctly and that the existing coax is sufficient to support Cox service.&nbsp; What I DO NOT want is the Cox installer running 5 lines all over the outside of my house and /or giving me service low on an interior wall as that will cause me to have to run more coax through the walls, into the attic and back down another wall to service my wall mount televisions.

Hi DanT, a technician should be able to run a drop from the Cox demarcation point on the back side of your house into the attic and connect it to a 5-way splitter. This will allow you to utilize the existing house wiring to your TVs. -Becky, Cox Support Forums Moderator
