Not Recording
Our box is no longer recording shows. It was fine a few days ago then all of a sudden stopped. Tr he scheduled recordings list is always empty. I've gone through the guide and found shows that no longer say they as re set to record. I have my cable box hooked up to my TV via a coaxial cable. I recently got a new tv and did the auto tuner. The only channel that appears is channel 4. I can't go to channel 3 on my tv even if I scan again or manually add channel 3. So I was wondering if there a way to set the cable box to output a signal using channel 4? I am disappointed with our experience after upgrading to the new Contour 2 record-6 DVR and voice remote. At first, we thought it was going to be really nice, then after the first day, we realized that the Cisco 9865 model will not maintain our selected setting for video or audio. This unit reboots overnight, then will default to 720P HD resolution and Stereo audio. What is the point of buying high-end home theater equipment when you have a shabby, low-end cable box? After resetting everything and waiting another day, the darn Cisco unit did the same thing. I did some research and learned that this is a known "glitch". We paid for service Tech to install this unit, and ultimately had to go to a Cox solutions store to trade in for a new version of this box and install it ourselves. Some people may not notice any difference in sound and video depending on their own TV setup, but we sure did. I really resent having to pay for a service call and then end up needing to exchange and install anyway. I asked a questions earlier and apparently I gave to much info regarding the issue because it was replied to and then locked by Moderator, Michaelj. My 'TECHNICAL' question is, (I will underline it, since it was hard to spot in the original post).... Should the Contour service be supported on the Cisco 4742HDC? Since I am being billing for it and billing says that it is a technical issue I figured I would start on this forum before contacting support. I was under the impression this forum was to discuss the most common technical questions with the Cox Community, not just the Cox Moderators, at least that is what the forum home page suggested. I recently had cox cable installed, I was ready surprised when I saw thecable boxes they installed. They were the ugliest boxes I have ever seen but I honestly could get past the ugly and very old look of the boxes. The problem is that they reboot all the time, some channels never work and channels I don't have appear on my channel list making it confusing to find out which channels I can look at. I have the Scientific Atlanta CSH824H. I've seen that many people have issues with these boxes, I was just wondering if cox does not have any other more updated box? When I log into my account above the model of my cable box appears another box image which is apparently the Cisco 8742HDC. Can Cox provide that box? Why can,t i get an answer....t v station change on its on, i call 18882699693 or 18553078210 they don,t have no answer the same were i go too pay my $182.00 a month. I am having trouble with my modem losing upstream channels. It seems to only happen when it is hot outside and primarily between around 11:00 am and 6:00 pm. I tried contacting technical support and while the person I talked to was courteous, he was not listening to what I was telling him. He said I needed a firmware update, so he pushed one out to my modem. Problem is the so called firmware update matches exactly the one from the screen shot I took two days before. Update, not so much. Imagine my surprise when that did not fix the issue. I've had a problem with the OnDemand features since I changed my TV account and added the Contour box. I can watch OnDemand with the basic local channels, but when attempting to watch such channels as USA, which I am a subscriber to, it only posts a message "A subscription to a premium package is required in order to watch this program. I had/have Cox internet and had Dish Network for television and decided to switch everything over to Cox but cannot get a signal to the the Cisco boxes from Cox. First we were informed that a tech never switched the service on at the box outside our home but now that they have done that we still cannot get a signal to the boxes. So I decided to have my husband try and connect one of the boxes to the coax line used for our internet and we get a perfect signal. Has anyone heard of this happening or does anyone anyone have any ideas/suggestions as to what could be causing the issue in the other rooms of our house?? Everything worked fine when Dish was activated. My problem is that we have been dealing with this issue since the end of April and are being charged for cable tv that we have not been able to access. I'm disabled and pretty much confined to bed so letting a tech in to try and figure it out just hasn't been an option as my husband works when a tech could come out. Any insight, suggestions, or ideas to try would be greatly appreciated as I get a different answer/suggestion/potential issue every time I call tech support and obviously none of their ideas have worked.
