If I replace DPQ3212 with Arris Surfboard 8200 without phone jack
I want to replace my existing modem DPQ3212 with a Docsis 3.1 modem, for instance an Arris Surfboard 8200. However, since the 8200 does not have any phone jacks, I do not know what to do to retain Cox's voice service. I cannot get a clear answer from Cox - it seems I must buy or rent one of the "Cox-provided" modems, e.g., Arris TM3402. Is there any feasible option where I have my own Internet modem yet retain the Cox voice service? Thanks.2.7KViews0likes7CommentsUpgraded to a Panoramic wifi gateway modem, wifi works, voice does not
I had a modem for my Cox services (wifi and voice) for about 5 years. It died and I "upgraded" to a panoramic wifi gateway (model CGM4140COM). The only change was switching out the devices. When I try to use the phone, there is no dial tone. I checked all the physical connections, the cord from the phone to TEL 1 port, the wifiworks, but the voice service with my phone does not work. I can view the missed calls online in my account data though. I reviewed the troubleshooting steps listed online and used the online assistant, to no avail. They scheduled a tech to check it out, but I'd prefer to fix it before that occurs. Any ideas on what it could be?1.2KViews0likes1CommentLandline cuts in and out not solved
We havethe ARRIS modem setup where your phone directly plugs into the back. The past 7 month people calling my coxline line cant hear us because the phone cut in and out. Today we received a new ARRIS modem and it is installed correctly and the cordless phone still cut in and out. What should be my next step to check before purchasing a brand new cordless phone system, that may not even solve the problem????3.3KViews0likes5CommentsSeparate Phone and Internet Modems
I am planning to upgrade to Gigablast internet, which means I'd need to upgrade from my DPQ3212 modem to one with DOCSIS 3.1. However, I have a phone line and it is my understanding that if I am to buy my own modem, I'd still have to use the one provided by Cox for phone service, meaning I'd need 2 separate modems, one for internet and one for telephone service. If this is correct, and I follow through with getting Gigablast and a DOCSIS 3.1 modem, what exactly would I need to do to set it up when it arrives? Would someone need to come to our house to set it up (are they even doing house visit right now?), would I need a coax cable splitter or could I use a different coax outlet in the house? I've looked into this quite a bit as gaming on my current plan has been quite frustrating, but I'm a bit confused about the details so any help is appreciated!14KViews0likes10Commentsupgraded phone modem - NO DIAL TONE

On a Friday our analog telephone stopped working and we called Tech support the following Monday. They told us that they would send someone out to "fix" our problem. The tech arrived and told us he was sent here because he needed to upgrade our phone line to digital. We weren't notified by Cox of this service interruption and we were really hesitant as our analog line NEVER went out during a storm. Two weeks later that changed and we didn't have any Emergency Access or regular phone access. Unreal how companies think this will improve service and causes their customers to be in more danger. What happens if a storm like Sandy hits our area...all mobile phones will be out in my area and we will be S.O.L. with this forced Digital service. Can we get our old copper telephone service back?11KViews0likes7CommentsMoving a phone from one room to another
I had a phone installed a year or more ago, at the time there was no charge to add this service, but when I contacted COX today, they informed me that they would charge $50.00 to move the phone from the room it is in now to another in the same house, same wiring, same TV, same internet...etc. What is so difficult about unscrewing a coax wire and screwing it into another room but for some reason, COX won't provide any service without charging ridiculous fees. It's literally a 5-10 minute job and I've managed to just get a coax extension, drill a hole and move it to the next room while it's still connected to the same outlet. The reasoning behind all these charges for doing something so simple is just another reason that COX is becoming the worst provider I've ever used. It's nothing but greed and the two words "Customer Service" don't exist at this company. Good luck to all who stay with this rip-off company. New Years resolution is to change providers ASAP.Solved4.5KViews0likes1Comment
