How do I change my DNS with COX panoramic Router?
I have a cox panoramic router. I want to switch to Open DNS as my DNS servers for security reasons, as I am seeing frequent attacks on the router that I have been able to trace back as originating from the ISP DNS servers. However, I do not see any options for DNS in the panoramic router config options.17KViews0likes2CommentsUnknown computer shown on my network
On Windows Explorer I noticed under Network a computer listed above my own. It wasn't there previously. It is named IVANNANICOLE-HP. Is someone accessing my Linksys wireless router or getting on my network through my COX modem? How do I get this computer removed from my network? I tried unplugging my router and waiting a few minutes, but when I plugged it in again, it was still there. I don't know if it is safe for me to go on the internet if someone is accessing my computer. I have COX's Security Suite installed and run scans regularly. Anyone else have a problem like this?11KViews0likes11CommentsRoot Certificate not installed following email settings update

In light of the latest ubiquity of security breaches, I have to ask - does Cox routinely send out firmware upgrades when available [i.e. to Cox supplied Cable Modem/Routers such as the Cisco DPQ3925], or is that considered a customer responsibility? Not that we are, necessarily, a prime target, sill, I would feel more secure if our main "firewall" against malicious attacks/hacks to our local network was as robust as possible.6.1KViews0likes3CommentsTrying to Setup Remote Security PLEASE help
PLEASE someone in IT help! I purchased Samsung's SDR-3040 4 camera remote security system for my home. All the cameras and software have been installed and connected to my Netgear WPN824N router, I can view the outside of my house OK from my monitor inside. In order to access it remotely to view my home from anywhere, I was instructed in the manual to download the ipolis app from the play store onto my Android Galaxy III. After installing this, it asks me to enter from a drop down either the IP ADDRESS or DDNS, HTTP Port number, which the manual says is 80. I have entered numerous IP address which I got from my computer properties and from logging into the router. (Because I'm confused about which one to enter). But, I keep getting "cannot connect" message. I don't know what else to do. I also have to configure Port Forwarding by logging into my router, which the Samsung manual is poor at explaining. I can log into it but again I am unsure of what IP address to add. Samsung's support has been of very little help in assisting me. Any suggestions at all will be very much appreciated5KViews0likes4CommentsWork around for Guest Wifi - Cox router no longer has it
We just switched to the panoramic with the combined router and modem. We discovered later that the Cox removed the Guest Wifi option from their routers (super frustrating!!). Guest networking is basic functionality of a wireless router so I am very disappointed that Cox has gotten rid of this feature. As a work around, I tried setting up a new user as GuestWifi just for accessing the Cox Hot Spots but it won't work because even after removing all access, anyone using the login can still see our bill, pay our bill (ok maybe thats not so bad LOL), see our account number, etc....I'm sharing this part for others so they don't waste time with it. Next, we thought about connecting our old router to the new pano combined router/modem (basically using one modem with two routers). In concept, if I plug one end of the ethernet cable into the LAN port of the primary router, then plug the other end of the cable into the LAN port on the back of the second router, I'm thinking it'll work. But how do I set them up to show as different wifi logins? When I go into the router setup, how do I get into two different routers? Has anyone done this part of it?4KViews0likes11CommentsSOON TO BE 2021 ... AND THE COX WEB-MAIL "SPAM BOMBARDMENT" STILL CONTINUES
https://ibb.co/gFPnY57 The infestation that's getting through Cox mail servers has got so bad that it's outright inexcusable, and I dread every moment when it comes time to check my email. In many ways it seems like Cox is a magnet for attracting not just spam, but other exploits, such as spoofing, phishing and pharming. Stuff that cyber-criminals use to deliver malware, attract victims to malicious websites or to steal confidential and sensitive data. In all honestly, I get more garbage than legitimate messages that it's become a frustrating chore sifting through the mess it creates. Not to mention the hours I've wasted in the daunting task of creating over a hundred, non-effective, "filter rules" to weed out some of the reoccurring pests. In fact my Inbox looks no different then my Spam folder, each containing a mixture of both spam and legitimateemails (just as the image shows above). "Marking" an email as spam is a joke too, and you’re a fool in trying to utilize that option because it does absolutely nothing. Perhaps it’s because protective measures are not being implemented by the server. But even if they were, I shouldn’t be receiving the samegarbageevery single day. And just to prove I'm not exaggerating, here a "small list" of the garbage accumulated in a typical work week: SelectHomeWarranty, Gadget Junkies, Leaf Filter Discount, Sams Club reward, CVS Pharmacy Survey, AltaiBalance, Truth_Finder, Caringforaparent.com, VeteranInsuranceDiscounts, Support Center, Soft Erections, Home Solar Survey, PowerPro-PowerSaver, FreezAir Pro, UV PhoneSanitizer|SterilizerXf, Talcum-powder-lawsuit settlement.com, TalcumPowderLawsuit, Dream Home Ideas, Pest Control, Max-Performer, ProbioticEase|Special, Dear Beneficiary, eharmony Partner, Protect Your Home - ADT Premier Provider, awesomestuff2buy.com, Exclusive Tactical Flashlight, NationalConcealedAcademy, REPLY ME URGENTLY, Wheel of Fortune, FRONTLINE KN95 Facemask, Vivint.SmartHome, Gemini Trust, AAGMortgage, Premium Mattresses by Lull, BANK OF CHINA, SeniorsDiscountsClub Info, PowerPro-PowerSaver, Nutrisystem Discount, BestCarInsurance, Pure Radiance, TommyChong, BoyScoutsAbuseLawsuit.com, Anti-Virus Protection, EZBatteryReconditioning, seniorperks, Boundery eBulb, Nerve Renew Wes, RoundUp Lawsuit, Walk-in Safety Tub, GutterProtector.coPromo, SunPower Promo, Buy Mask Shield, Male Enhancement, InjurySurvey.com Info, Cannabis Gummies, DoGoodPoints, SNOWTeethWhitening, FreeFlashlight, Enlarged Prostate, PlatinumAutoWarranty, BathroomRenovationShop, USAMilitarySavings Info, RoofingSurvey, Oil Change Coupons, Diet Legends Keto Fuel, NationalConcealedAcademyTraining, Smart Living Tips, ZantacInjuryHelp.com, ShopThePersonalButcher Ad, Nutrition Tips, FundsForVictims, Crepe Erase. Not only is it enough to make your head spin, but it's an issue that's shared with thousands of other Cox customers who are equally just as frustrated. In fact this abuse has been going on way too long and it's about time that the company finally takes immediate action to combat these security issues - rather than continuing to ignore them over the years by neglecting the basic techniques for securing their systems - and thus leaving us vulnerable. Frankly, I strongly feel that we as consumers deservemore consideration than what we've been getting, as well as receiving the best protection against alloutside threats. After all, if Gmail can protect their users from spam and other exploits for free, then why can't Cox at least tryby doing the same? With that said, I'm convinced that Cox is technologically behind the eight-ball and is seriously in need of updating or adding more security layersto get back up to speed. Please weigh in if you agree. NOTE TO MODERATOR: Judging by the many posts on this particular subject during the past several years, this has been an ongoing issue that has yet to be resolved. Since this is forum open for discussion, it would be greatly appreciated that you allow more ample time for comments and/or suggestions to be heard before making the final decision of marking this thread as locked. Thank you.3.9KViews0likes11CommentsEnabling MoCA Privacy on Technicolor CGM4141
Hello everyone. I'm having some trouble enabling MoCA Privacy on my new cable modem from Cox. I can see on the configuration page that privacy is disabled: However when I click Edit there is no option to enable privacy: On my old Arris modem there was a checkbox to enable privacy which allowed you to put the PIN for your MoCA devices. Any advice? I would rather not install a PoE filter since the cable enters the house at a difficult to reach area... I also talked to phone support who said I should talk to Techincolor, but their support page says that the service provider will support the device in the U.S. Thanks in advance!3.7KViews0likes0CommentsHow can I change the SSID on Panoramic TG1682 gateway?
In the interest of added security I'm contemplating changing both the default password and SSID on my TG1682 gateway. However, I was unable to find a reference for it in the User Guide I discovered on the internet (couldn't find one available from Cox). I'm hoping to accomplish this task, or at least learn if it's at all possible with the TG1682.3.2KViews0likes3CommentsBackup
Theinstructions say that I might need to download an applet the first time I access online backup. Windows security will not allow that site to be downloaded because there is no provider signature. Why is Cox asking me to download an applet that comes from an "unknown"source? I've tried everything I can think of, but my OS is apparently more determined to block this site. Any ideas?2.9KViews0likes0Comments
