Smart devices are not connecting to panoramic WiFi
It's been a month now since i upgraded to the gigablast plan and panoramic WiFi router. Ever since i did that most of my smart devices are failing to connect. Google nest thermostat, tuya smart bulbs, etekcity smart plugs. I tried to reset the bulbs and connect to the 2.4ghz network SSID but it tries for few minutes and fails. Nest support says the ping is very high (3000+),the so device shows offline. Have reset to factory defaults 5 times with help from their tech support but no luck. Just to test, i connected to my neighbor's WiFi (with his permission) and it worked immediately. After it worked, i switched the connection to my WiFi network and it went back to showing offline now. Speed test doesn't work as well (ookla) even through cox app. Only Google's works. Anyone else facing these issues? Any solution? P.S. All smart devices were working fine with my previous Netgear router. Stopped working only after panoramic WiFi router was setup.20KViews2likes30CommentsMoCA installation
Hi all. I'm a brand new cox subscriber and have purchased the gigabit connection using the COX Panoramic modem/router (Technicolor CGM 4141). Which i believe is compatible with MoCA. The cable connection comes straight into the front room of the house directly into the modem/router. the cable is not split and distributed to any other rooms currently. I'd like to deliver a connection to two other rooms using existing cable and MoCA. So here is my current plan. Please let me know if I have this right. Step 1. Using a standards compliant splitter, connect the service feed prior to the modem connection and distribute it to the two other rooms. Step 2. Using Moca 2.0 adapters, connect the RG6 cable to covert into a standard ethernet signal. Step 3. Connect my PC to the Moca Adapter using RJ45 cat5 cable. Would appreciate any insights or recommendations. Thanks!Solved7.4KViews1like1CommentReplacing the Panoramic WiFi Router/Modem issues
I've had Cox Gigablast for a couple months (brand new customer) and I knew eventually I would replace the Panoramic Modem (Technicolor CGM4141). Just a quick insert here too... I tried putting the Panoramic unit into Bridge mode and it sort of limped along. I called Cox support and they told me under no circumstances do they support the Bridge mode on the device, so I turned that off and waited for my shipments. I also have 4 TV's connected with Cox. When the installer came out, he gave me options to go with for the box at each TV. I figured he knew best and let him install the Cloud Based DVR with 3 other identical boxes. I also have a phone line through Cox. Anyway, about a week ago I called Cox and went over what I wanted to purchase and if it was compatible with their network (I had already checked it out on the hardware compatibility list:https://www.cox.com/residential/support/cox-certified-cable-modems.html). Anyway, after a short discussion, they said it was good to go, so I placed an order for a Netgear CM1000 Docsis 3.1 Modem and aNighthawk(R) X4S R7800 Router. The router came in (the modem was being shipped cross country and still isn't here) and I had already added a "Telephone Modem" to the mix (got the Telephone Modem from the Cox store at no cost). I then took a closer look at the Telephone Modem and noticed it was a Docsis 3.1 Modem with an Ethernet port. So I disconnected the Panoramic unit and connected the telephone and the ethernet port to the Wan port on theNighthawk. I then called Cox support and they activated the telephone and I told them to move the internet from the now disconnected Panoramic unit to the Telephone Modem for a few days. They switched the services over, but my TV signal disappeared. The tech went round and round trying things (and having me unplug, disconnect, unsplit, resplit, etc) and finally transferred me to a "higher?" level tech. That tech immediately knew that my TV boxes relied on the Panoramic modem to pull IP addresses and essentially "work". He said I could go with the "Contour 2" boxes/DVR and that had no reliance on any other hardware. Went down and exchanged my 4 boxes for 1 six way DVR and 3 boxes/clients. Hooked everything up, seemed ok. The series I had set up on the Cloud DVR even "seemed" to come over to the wired DVR. So now I'm using the Arris Telephone Modem to connect my Nighthawk and am getting close to 1gig speeds (960), getting good coverage and a strong WiFi signal. Now back to the DVR, things are showing as scheduled but not recording. Recording live programs and getting hit or miss on whether they are playable. So I figure I'll delete the whole schedule and add back a few programs. First night, 2 programs are recording at the same time, the 3 clients are hooked up and I get the message that I can't change the channel unless I want to stop a recording. The 6 way DVR become a 3 way DVR because of the 3 clients I have hooked up to other TV's.That seems like some bad info/advertising. Would have been easy enough to mention that when switching equipment. Anyway, I know I should probably cut the cable, but we just aren't ready too. I'm stuck in a Cox only area. The only options I have are adding a 6 way DVR for $25 a month to get more "tuners" for recording or to downgrade from Contour 2 to Contour 1 which I guess has less graphics and more text? At this point, I wish I hadn't gone the way of my own Modem and Router to end up in this situation. Maybe someone reading this will save themselves some time or energy. Not sure what direction I'm going... as I don't want to spend any more money per month (the idea was to save the $11 a month and get my own equipment).5.2KViews0likes1CommentPanoramic Router Port forwarding
I have the Cox Panoramic router CGM4140COM. I switch plugged into ETH1, and a device plugged into ETH2. The device in ETH2 has a static IP address, and I can access it from the LAN. I can see it as a "Connected Device" in both the router, and wifi.cox.com OK so all that is good. I am having an issue when I go into port forwarding this device is not showing up in the drop down. I need to setup 2 ports. I have searched the forum, and not seeing an answer to this issue. I can call COX, but am I understand correctly that they want to charge to support THEIR router, and something that is obviously THEIR issue? Thanks4.7KViews0likes6CommentsWork around for Guest Wifi - Cox router no longer has it
We just switched to the panoramic with the combined router and modem. We discovered later that the Cox removed the Guest Wifi option from their routers (super frustrating!!). Guest networking is basic functionality of a wireless router so I am very disappointed that Cox has gotten rid of this feature. As a work around, I tried setting up a new user as GuestWifi just for accessing the Cox Hot Spots but it won't work because even after removing all access, anyone using the login can still see our bill, pay our bill (ok maybe thats not so bad LOL), see our account number, etc....I'm sharing this part for others so they don't waste time with it. Next, we thought about connecting our old router to the new pano combined router/modem (basically using one modem with two routers). In concept, if I plug one end of the ethernet cable into the LAN port of the primary router, then plug the other end of the cable into the LAN port on the back of the second router, I'm thinking it'll work. But how do I set them up to show as different wifi logins? When I go into the router setup, how do I get into two different routers? Has anyone done this part of it?4KViews0likes11CommentsHow to set up OpenDNS for parental controls on COX Panoramic router
OpenDNS is used as a parental control and requires me to change my DNS servers. I logged into my router and they are currently set to, Primary DNS Server (IPv4):68.105.28.11 Secondary DNS Server (IPv4):68.105.29.11 But there is no visible option to changes these inside the Panoramic control panel. How do I fix this? Do I need a different router? Thanks!3.1KViews1like1CommentNo valid router list on the Cox.con web
Cox are decide increase the cost of my awesome slow and expensive connection. I’m from Europe and I normally pay $30 for a 600/600 line with taxes, without any download limit. i understand we are in a diferent country and I need to pay more of the doble for a horrible 150/10 line with a really low download limit. But the limit for me it’s when Cox increase the cost of my line when I have a permanence agreement with them. And I only can quit the limited router they provide me. I read very carefully the router list in his web and I find a Arris TG1682 in a good price. I won’t have a better service but i will save some money. when I arrive to my home and I put my “new” router the system tell me “it’s not compatible” I review one more time the list and I call to customer service. They tell me this router only works when I rent to them. I spend my time and my money in look the routers and buy one. And COX cannot provide service over the routers they are listed as “compatible” the person attend me tell me only the routers of Netgear can works good. I can be sure Cox it’s not the better company. But in my town, unfortunately, we don’t have option. But... really? They publish a list of routers and it’s not valid?2.7KViews0likes8Commentswifi.cox.com says "not eligible"
I need to be able to configure port forwarding for my panoramic router. In the standard amin panel at 192.168.0.1 itsays I need to login to wifi.cox.com to configure port forwarding. When I attempt to login to that site I get the message that "To access Panoramic WiFi, you'll need to upgrade your service/equipment." I have chatted with technical support online and they can't tell me what I need to upgrade to or how to enable access. What is the solution here?2.4KViews0likes2CommentsWhere can I find documentation on Panoramic modem?
My Panoramic modem is currently attached to COX COAX for input. I'm using standard WIFI features. Since I'm a computer professional with strong preference for wired Ethernet to desktop computers, I'm using a ETH1 slot on Modem connected to a CISCO switch. This configuration provides reliable constant network performance to my desktops. Can the 2nd Ethernet slot, ETH2, be used concurrently with ETH1? Thanks for your support.2.1KViews0likes2Comments
